Rockies - DLed Barmes, Greene

Colorado Rockies - Placed SS Clint Barmes on the 60-day DL; played C Todd Greene on the 15-day DL; recalled IF Tim Olson and C Danny Ardoin.

Barmes fell victim to the dreaded grocery bag injury.  This happened to me once before; I carried a 12-pack of coke in from the car with my pinky finger (my hands were full of all the other groceries) and I couldn’t move the damn finger for a week.

Relaford is the starting shortstop for now.  Personally, I’d just say the hell with it and give Tim Olson the starting job for the time being as he’s doing his best to show 2004 was for real and with the Rockies not going anywhere and Barmes out possibly for the year, I’d rather see if Tim Olson can be a useful stopgap that can be moved when Barmes is healthy.

Does Barmes have any witnesses to the grocery bag injury. If not, this sounds like he is making up a story to cover for doing something stupid.

The grocery bag story is the stupid story.

I carried a twelver of those seltzer bottles (casting couch Sprite) in today with one hand while carrying a 28 lb. bag of litter with the other up to the fourth floor (via elefator).

In German, my name loosely translates as "The man who took one trip."

Wow, is that MLE for Ardoin accurate? That is ridiculous! Is that translated to Coors? (Even so.)

Yes. He's had a very hot 6 weeks in the minors, but this isn't his usual level of play by a long shot.
