Rockies - Signed Embree

Colorado Rockies - Signed P Alan Embree to a 1-year, $2.5 million contract.

Pass.

The problem with Alan Embree as a LOOGY is that his platoon splits are generally unimpressive for a pitcher of that genre.  A pitcher who’s terrible against righties and amazing against lefties has some good situational usage, while a pitcher who’s mediocre against righties and OK against lefties doesn’t have nearly as much utility.  Embree’s a little like the Pontiac Aztek - no fast enough to be a car, not useful enough to be farm equipment, and not ugly enough to be used as the antagonist in a horror movie.  OK, strike that last one.

Not a terrible signing, just kind of pointless.
