Royals - Acquired Redman

Kansas City Royals - Acquired P Mark Redman from the Pittsburgh Pirates for P Jonah Bayliss and a player to be named later.

Bayliss is probably a fair middle reliever, but the Royals kind of need some starters that aren’t horrific. Mark Redman fits that bill and that he’s now one of the best players on the team is really, really sad. There’s very little the Royals can do to get out of last place in 2006 and without changing the organizational philosophy drastically, the forseeable future.

Step 1: Acquire Redman.
Step 2: In July, trade Redman to someone desperate in exchange for prospects.
Step 3: Hope prospects are decent-to-good players in 2008.
Step 4: Royals fans push hope for a good team back to 2009.

Hope is what keeps Pirates’ fans going to the park. I’d guess it’s the same for Royals’ fans.

I thought he meant we were pushing "back" (as in moving left, on the number line), from the current projection, which is sometime between 2012 and never.
