Tigers - DLed Higginson

Detroit Tigers - Placed OF Bobby Higginson on the 15-day DL; purchased P Doug Creek

Higginson has been as bad a backup outfielder as he was a starting outfielder. The Tigers need to give up and release him when he’s healthy; there isn’t any team dumb enough now to take on the millions still left on his contract and all he does on the team is push the Tigers towards losses. Too bad there are no stats kept on whininess/ability ratio; Higginson would actually do quite well there.

I agreed with the idea of keeping him around to see if he had a good start, and then trying to pass him off to somebody for a couple of warm bodies.

It ain't happening. They need to cut him and move on.

Funny how both Oakland and the Dodgers approached Detroit late in Spring Training in regards to acquiring Higgy.

Granted, both clubs would've only traded for him if Detroit would pay the bulk of the salary, but still. If Oakland and the LAD wanted him, then the statheads surely must be Higgy backers.
