Tigers - Signed Fien

Detroit Tigers - Signed P Casey Fien to a minor-league contract.

So ends Replacement Level Reliever:  2010 Tour as the former Tiger/Blue Jay/Red Sox reliever (on paper) fiens his way back to Detroit after a month of waiver wire Hot Potato.  I still have Fien projected at a 5.31 ERA and given that the Tiger bullpen isn’t the most exciting, could end up back in the majors at some point.

So, why did Toronto release (rather than waive) him?
He's just another arm, but still young and has enough of a base to work with that I wouldn't mind having him in my org.

Yeah I was going to say ... did the Jays claim him off waivers and then buy him out? That seems like an excellent use of resources.

Toronto's GM doesn't like any one who went to the same high school as John Stamos, and because Fein wasn't that great, they let him go.
