White Sox - Signed MacDougal

Chicago White Sox - Signed P Mike MacDougal to a 3-year contract.

This comes in at $6.45 million guaranteed with a $350K buyout in 2010 of a team option worth $3.75 million.  While MacDougal was merely free-agent eligible, it’s still a pretty good deal - $6 million in this market only gets you a single year of Danys Baez or a year and a half of Jamie Walker.  MacDougal was one of the few bright spots on the pitching staff down the stretch for the White Sox.  As long as they understand that they got a lot of Good MacDougal in 2006 and that there will be the occasional two-week stretch in which Mac looks completely clueless, they should be very happy with this deal and renew it in 2010.

One should note that the projection is slightly improved from my previous MacDougal projection - I originally forgot to take out his rehab time in recent years.
