Yankees - Acquired Wilson

New York Yankees - Acquired 1B-OF Craig Wilson from the Pittsburgh Pirates for P Shawn Chacon

Yankee fans were excited with Chacon’s run last year, but his 7.00 ERA as a swingman this year rightfully caused the fans to turn on him.  I said it last year and I’ll say it again - I honestly have no idea what to expect from Chacon from here on out.  Many times, it’s looked like he’s turned the corner, only to result in those statements looking rather silly, as they have this year.  Chacon becomes the new Problem Guy the Pirates Hope to Figure Out now that the Bucs are sending Oliver Perez to the Mets.

It’s too bad that Sheffield’s not healthy - it would have been entertaining to see if Joe Torre would ever write a Wilson-Bernie-Sheffield outfield onto the lineup card.  When else would Craig Wilson ever get the opportunity to be the best defensive player in an outfield?  Wilson, as everyone reading this knows, got to spend most games on the bench, behind the dreadful Burnitz, after Casey came off the DL.  He won’t get a ton of at-bats in New York, but he’ll provide good right-handed power when he does get at-bats and won’t be stuck working for the Pirates next spring.

CWilson will hit the winning home run against Papsmear to clinch the AL East pennant for NYY.

Then folks in NE will start burning their Theo jerseys...

This is how it ends. Not with a bang, but with a whimper.

I am very impressed with Brian Cashman and my fondness for the Yankees ranks somewhere south of scoliosis.

Just seeing this topic in the side bar gives me Enrique Wilson flashbacks.

That's probably above syphilis, right? I'll take it!
