Yankees - DLed Chacon and Crosby, Recalled Tlong, Signed Durazo

New York Yankees - Placed P Shawn Chacon on the 15-day disabled list; purchased the contract of OF Terrence Long, signed 1B Erubiel Durazo to a minor-league contract.

What sound does throwing a 180-pound wrench into a well-oiled machine make?  TLONG!  But, he is replacing Crosby, and remember, Long’s misplay of the ball hit in that Yanks-A’s ALDS a few years ago helped the Yankees more than Crosby ever has.

Chacon shouldn’t be out too long - you hate to see a guy get injured on a comebacker like the one Loretta hit off of Chacon’s leg, but it’s preferable to the more common “vague tendinitis” or “shoulder soreness” things pitchers get.  Wang and Mussina are the reasons the starting pitching is better than last year as long as they’re healthy, the Yankees will be just fine.

If Durazo’s healthy enough to play again, it’s pretty pathetic that the Cubs signed Tony Womack instead of him.  It’ll be funny if Dusty Baker gets fired - he’s skated by and not gotten fired for anything that deserved it and when he does go, it’ll be for something that’s not his fault.
