Yankees - Signed Groom

New York Yankees - Signed P Buddy Groom to a minor-league contract.

Not much room for Buddy on the Yankee roster as Stanton is likely the only lefty in the Yankee bullpen with a whole bunch of righty relievers guaranteed jobs in the pen.  Could still make the team depending on who gets injured in spring training - if Steve Karsay is now just the Yankee version of Lt. Kije, it changes the roster complexion considerably.

Not bad at all, that pen is way too overcrowded. A guy like Groom could serve as a good lefty specialist on any team not named the Yankees.

For the money and the role (LOOGY), the Blue Jays would have been better off with Groom than Schoeneweis.

Yay. Another guy the O's could have traded 2 years ago when (a) he was worth something, and (b) the team wasn't going to win *with* him.

That sound you hear is the wind blowing across the barren wasteland of the O's farm system, for the 20th consecutive year.
