I think we have to be very careful how they move forward here.
Disagree.

The first round of blame has to go to the offense/Bogar for failing to score in the eighth and ninth. Then Papelbon.

It can go to both. Fire the dumbcunt 3rd base coach who sent Scutaro after WATCHING HIM FALL DOWN.

But Papelbon has ALWAYS been overrated and has one ####### pitch, a 95 ####### MPH ####### MEATBALL.

Rooting order:

Brewers
Tigers
Rays
Diamondbacks
Rangers
Phillies
Cardinals
Another cancelled World Series

Well, at least we didn't trade for Bruce Chen...

The off-season thread should be fun. Aside from beheading the coaching staff, I've not sure what we should do with the 40-man roster, etc.

That's an option? Then slot it ahead of the Phillies on my list.

Mine is almost exactly the same

Bruce Chen would be a massive upgrade over everyone after Beckett and Lester.

Thanks for the laugh Mikael.

Bedard was solid for us down the stretch. 107 ERA+. It just sucks that he's injury prone.

Jose, had I not watched the Tito experience in Philly up close (I live 20 minutes from Philly), I might not feel the venom I feel now. But he's the same guy now he was then. It worked for a while here/suited the roster; it doesn't work anymore. It happens. No one manages forever. He didn't adapt, facts on the ground change, and he's the same guy now he was in Philly... and it doesn't work any more. I'm tired of it. I want to see something new. Who cares if we miss the playoffs next year? It's not like we've made it the last two years anyway.

I'd go further and say we need to move on from Theo, too. But I see that as less likely to happen.

Who's your dream replacement?
   112. Textbook Editor Posted: September 29, 2011 at 05:01 AM (#3944566)
#111--Hmmm... I'll have to think about that a bit. Gillick is too old. Byrnes wouldn't come back. Next in would be Cherington; I'd be OK with that.

Saltalamacchia + Lavarnway tie VanLandingham + Mulholland for most letters by two teammates at a single position (23).

Rowland-Smith + Jakubauskas say hi.
   114. The Clarence Thomas of BBTF (scott) Posted: September 29, 2011 at 05:08 AM (#3944586)
Byrnes and Stand Pat as your top two.

I rest my case.
   115. Dan Posted: September 29, 2011 at 05:42 AM (#3944594)
Why do you think Byrnes wouldn't come back?

I'm not sure I want Theo gone, but if he is gone, Byrnes is probably my #1 guy to replace him.
   116. The Clarence Thomas of BBTF (scott) Posted: September 29, 2011 at 05:52 AM (#3944597)
Wait, this is the same Byrnes who dealt Carter for Carlos Quentin? The same guy who dealt CarGo for Danny Haren? That's your guy?
   117. Textbook Editor Posted: September 29, 2011 at 06:12 AM (#3944615)
I was coming up with names off the top of my head. Gillick IS too old. Why would Byrnes come back? He's got a winner now, not a loser. Those are just two names.

Theo's not a ####### god. He's not infallible. It's not like there literally is no one on earth who could do the job.

It's just time to clean it all out.
   118. Textbook Editor Posted: September 29, 2011 at 06:15 AM (#3944617)
Right, Haren's sucked this year. Totally sucked. How could he have ###### up that trade? What a rube.

Look, everyone has an expiration date. Everyone. He's not the ####### pope. He's not GM for life. It's time for him to go.
   119. Dan Posted: September 29, 2011 at 06:18 AM (#3944620)

He doesn't have a winner. They ousted him last year, and the new GM had all his acquisitions suck and the team took off anyway. He's working in some capacity under Hoyer in San Diego.

I think I'd let Theo finish out his contract and see how next year goes.

The coaching staff needs to be totally cleaned out though. And probably the training staff.
   120. Textbook Editor Posted: September 29, 2011 at 06:22 AM (#3944622)
See, this is what I get for not giving a flying #### about the National League.

#### it, off to see if The Holy Grail can lighten my mood. It's asking a lot of 5 British guys, I know.
   121. Drew (Primakov, Gungho Iguanas) Posted: September 29, 2011 at 06:45 AM (#3944637)
Probably best to save the big overhaul convos for when we're not all pissed off.
   122. The Clarence Thomas of BBTF (scott) Posted: September 29, 2011 at 07:38 AM (#3944653)
BYRNES GOT SHITCANNED YOU IGNORANT ####!

edit: I see that someone else pointed this out prior. Anyways, Pat Gillick and Josh Byrnes are not the answer. Give me a non-retread who's dealt with a good farm system and I'm happy to hear the ######## about Theo ####-#### Epstein.

Seriously, it's a good thing it's Rosh Hashanah right now, I'm going to do a lot of cussing I need to atone for.
   123. The Clarence Thomas of BBTF (scott) Posted: September 29, 2011 at 07:44 AM (#3944655)
I should probably double up on #121.

Sorry for the cussing. Theo ain't the Pope... and Theo sure ain't infailable. But I don't know of a single GM I'd want before Epstein.
   124. karlmagnus Posted: September 29, 2011 at 11:37 AM (#3944692)
Dan Duquette. You know it makes sense! Been saying it for almost 10 years.
