Sorry for the lack of updates, I've just been moving the last week. Anyways, this was kind of the turning point in the game.

Bottom of the 9th. 2 on. 1 out. Smoak and Treanor next up. Smoak has struggled, but to his credit he squared up a ball and hit a line drive. It just happened to be right at the center fielder.

Treanor looked like guy that should probably hang em up. No offense to him - he was a solid backup for a couple of years - but he just can't play in the majors successfully anymore.

Treanor gets all kinds of love from the Rangers broadcasters. You'd think he'd been the key to their season if you didn't look up his stats or watch him play. And he sure as hell plays often enough that the sentiment must extend beyond the booth. Seems like he's getting that scrappy and sucky catcher who the team's gonna ride cuz scrappy and sucky catchers rule! thing going on.

So, I wouldn't engage in any breath holding.

What's the deal with all the bunting? The rangers have maybe 2 guys who could bunt for a hit and it seems like half of their roster has tried it over the past week.

But his wife can stay.

Sadly, he's Babe Ruth compared to Taylor Teagarden, who has a 650 OPS in AA.

I am just amused because it seemed 12 months ago like the Rangers were going to drown under the weight of all their promising young catching and now they are starting Matt bloody Treanor with no end in sight...

One of the few moves Doug Melvin has made lately that's pleased me is keeping George Kottaras, he of the offensive upside and five years of team control, over Treanor at the end of spring training. Kottaras is hitting .245/.443/.551 right now; I can't imagine how sad I'd be with, on top of all the other crap that's gone on, Matt Treanor as the starting catcher now that Zaun's gone down.

This was pretty easy to see coming nearly a year ago, once it became rather obvious that Hicks was a toxic asset.

The Rangers have built one of their better teams that they've had in several years and should win the division and contend, and they deserve to have an owner that can pay the bills.

Treanor has really stepped it up this month. A game winning hit tonight!
