Sox Therapy: The Perfect Schedule - Games 51-60

With the Sox not playing their 51st game today against Tampa Bay we continue our perfect schedule.  The Sox run their record to a solid 60-0 today with some dramatic wins.

Game 51 - 2017 - Sox 13 at Other Sox 7 - Chris Sale’s much ballyhooed return to Chicago was a bit of a dud as the elite pitching matchup against Jose Quintana became a slugfest.  Jackie Bradley (4) and Deven Marrero (5) combined for nine RBI out of the 8&9 spots in the order.
Game 52 - 2006 - Sox 3 at Tigers 2 - I remember ...

Sox Therapy: The Perfect Schedule - Games 41-50

Back at it for another set of ten games from our perfect schedule.  This one features one of the truly great regular season games in semi-recent history as two true elites engaged in a tremendous pitching battle.  The Sox will now be 50-0 (slightly ahead of their 2018 pace) when this set of games is completed.

Game 41 - 2011 - Orioles 7 at Sox 8 - Ah those halcyon days of 2011 when everything was wonderful and Adrian Gonzalez was unstoppable. His walk off two bagger completed a comeback from ...

Sox Therapy: The Perfect Schedule - Games 31-40

Continuing the perfect schedule the Sox run their record to 40-0 here with some great games.  It feels like this set leans a bit heavier to more recent games.  Anecdotally it’s felt to me like May has always been a rough month for the Sox so there weren’t a lot of choices here.

Game 31 - 2017 - Sox 17 at Twins 6 - This was a wild one. Craig Kimbrel had to whiff Mauer and Kepler with a man at third in the 8th to hold the one run lead then the Sox struck for ten in the ninth.
Game 32 - 2000 ...

Sox Therapy: Book Closed

So at least one bit of relatively good news involving the local nine.  The MLB report on the sign stealing investigation has generally cleared the club with the heat coming down on replay coach (or whatever he’s called) JT Watkins.  The Sox by and large escape punishment with only a second round pick in 2020 being forfeited.  Watkins himself is suspended for the 2020 season and also cannot act as replay liaison for the 2021 season (really, what do they call the replay guy?).  Alex Cora is also ...

Sox Therapy: The Perfect Schedule - Games 21-30

So anyway, it appears that someone*, and we won’t point fingers, goofed and didn’t post this on April 17th which would have been the day of game 21.  Anyway, here are games 21-30 on The Perfect Schedule.

* OK, it was me.

Game 21 - 2002 - Devil Rays 0 - Sox 10 - 37 years after Dave Morehead turned the trick Derek Lowe hurled a no-hitter backed by Rickey Henderson’s first Red Sox’ homer.
Game 22 - 2017 - Cubs 4 - Sox 5 -  In a highly anticipated matchup against the World Champions the Sox ...

Sox Therapy: The Perfect Schedule - Games 11-20

Today would be game 11 for the Red Sox so I will continue the exciting new series that the world hasn’t been clamoring for with the next set of 10 games;

Game 11 - 1985 - Sox 12 at Other Sox 8 - TIL that Marty Barrett actually hit two grand slams in his career.  One was the final homer of his career and his only non-Red Sox homer (off Dave Righetti no less).  I assume you have figured out that his first grand slam was in this game.
Game 12 - 2003 - Orioles 0 at Sox 2 - Derek Lowe with 7 ...
