Crappy Trade Offers
Posted: 02 May 2006 12:37 AM   [ Ignore ]

What’s the best way to get another owner from consistently offering shoe-tread scrapings for your best players?  One guy in my league continually offers me crud for David Wright (2nd rounder), Cabrera (1st rounder), and Delgado (4th).  Occasionally, he expands it and asks for Fielder (13th) and F. Hernandez (6th), too.

Typically, his offer for all five would be like Capuano, Matsui, Jeter, Encarnacion, Thomson, and Bradley.

I’ve tried noting to him that I won’t do deals over 4 players, total. I’ve tried politely telling him that I don’t like trading my top picks.

I’ve posted to the league message board to politely ask him to read the private emails I send him.

Now, I’ve posted there something like “Please kindly note that I will not trade Wright, Cabrera, and Delgado in the same package ever.”

I’ve made him a couple of counter offers, which were probably just fuel to the fire.  I asked for, ultimately, Pujols and Soriano for Delgado, Wright, and Clemens.  I know that’s not the best deal for him (unless Clemens comes back, and then I lose that deal). However, I just wanted him to see how it felt for his top picks to be asked for and for him to see that I might actually value mine.  He was indignant and offended with me, to say the least.

That does it.  No more “please kindly"s.

What should I do if he offers me something else?

I’m thinking ignoring it would be good.  What do you folks do?

Why do you play in a league with such ###########?

The only solution is to flood, i mean flood, him with terrible offers.  Like D. Weathers for Pujols, trades like that.  Offer everyone on your team for Pujols, 1 by 1. He’ll get the message.

If that fails, your only recourse is to make fun of his momma on the league message board.

You know, I said on the league message board to please kindly note that I’m not going to trade my three best players to anyone, and he had the nerve to complain that I had actually asked for Pujols and Soriano.

Crapbag.

Just reject the trades and ignore him, he’ll learn eventually.  In my experience, people who are either relatively new to fantasy sports in general, or newer to a specific league, seem to think they can pull off great steals in their trades.  I had an offer in my league for me to give up Abreu for Matt Morris.  That’s borderline retarded…
