Has the Newsstand RSS feed ever worked?

Whenever I subscribe to the feed, my RSS reader immediately appears to be up to date, but as the Newsstand updates, my feed reader never stays in sync. Basically, it appears as though there’s something wrong with how the feed updates feed readers, at the very least w/r/t my choice of readers (both the Mac and iPhone versions of NetNewsWire).

Not knowing anything about the RSS specification, or how your CMS publishes feeds, I’m not sure I can point to a specific thing. The feed does validate, but not without warning(s). I’ll be sure to check if this problem exists elsewhere (I’m currently playing around with Google Reader), but it’d be great to know if this is something anyone else has ever encountered.

Google Reader doesn’t appear to have any issues, so, hopefully when NetNewsWire can sync via that service, this problem could go away. *Crossing fingers*

Doing a little digging, I found a couple of blog posts about how NewsGator deals with feeds, and the services that ping them directly (ping-o-matic, pingoat, feedburner). My problem appears to deal specifically with how NewsGator’s servers communicate with Baseball Think Factory’s feeds, as when I pinged the BBTF feed directly (via NewsGator’s feed administration page), I actually got the updates.

I imagine that they’d blame the feed in this scenario (and I imagine you guys here would blame the aggregator), leaving me in the lurch, so I’ll just post what I found:

The posts in question are:

The feed updates in Yahoo and Google Reader for me as well. This wasn’t always the case but a few tweaks of the RSS templates seems to have done the trick.

Thanks for looking into it, after talking with both the vendor and you, I think I’ll just have to wait until they make the switch to Google Reader for synchronization.
