MLB Historical Stats Databases
Posted: 24 February 2010 08:41 AM   [ Ignore ]

I’m looking for access to historical MLB stats by teams.  I’d specifically like to see team offensive and pitching stats for each individual game combined with the over/under and line/spread on the game with the results.  Does anyone know where I can look to download some of this information?  If there’s a site where I can pay for it that’d be okay as well.  I’m trying to load this information into Matlab for statistical analysis.  Thank you.

Sound like you are wanting retrosheet stuff.  Read “Baseball Hacks,” by Adler.  I like R, and hate SAS, Jump, anything that excludes users for not having cash to spend.  Excessively GUI’ed ways of accessing information unnecessarily limit analysis.  Learning command line is liberating.  Best regards.
Oh!  MLB.com has some cut and paste-able data.

Also check out baseball-reference.com.  they take retrosheet’s data and clean it up a bit.
