For those wondering if we can pick up another game on Tampa today I'll offficially unclench for 24 hours. Otherwise, I will remain in the fetal position for the forseeable future.

Jesus, Lackey.
   5. Joel W Posted: September 14, 2011 at 05:43 PM (#3924844)
Let the John Lackey experience begin! One K, one B, one hit. Wheeee.
   6. Good cripple hitter Posted: September 14, 2011 at 05:48 PM (#3924846)
Encarnacion's probably lost 10 bats this year that way. It's amazing that they haven't got him to use more pine tar or something, it's incredibly dangerous.
   7. Dan Posted: September 14, 2011 at 05:49 PM (#3924848)
Nice ####### 0-2 pitch, John. Go #### off and die please.

Great to be up at 3.45 am watching Lackey - just great

Morning all
   9. Dale Sams Posted: September 14, 2011 at 05:49 PM (#3924851)
They let you keep those at Fenway?

I could be wrong but I don't think the Sox have kept a team scoreless in the first two innings since the 14-0 game.
   10. Jose is an Absurd Sultan Posted: September 14, 2011 at 05:50 PM (#3924852)
Dear John Lackey,

#### you.

Sincerely,

Red Sox Nation

Can't get Kelly Johnson out - great player
   12. Dan Posted: September 14, 2011 at 05:50 PM (#3924855)
If they seriously start Lackey in the playoffs, I think I will have an aneurism.

Where the #### was Crawford on that?
   13. Phil Coorey. Posted: September 14, 2011 at 05:51 PM (#3924860)
Should be 5-0 soon
   14. Jay Seaver Posted: September 14, 2011 at 05:52 PM (#3924862)
Gads, why am I listening to this game? For all the complaining I did last night, I actually have some fond memories of Tim Wakefield. John Lackey is just all anger.
   15. Joel W Posted: September 14, 2011 at 05:53 PM (#3924863)
Soft bigotry of low expectations, where I'm happy with just giving up 2 runs.
   16. Dale Sams Posted: September 14, 2011 at 05:53 PM (#3924864)
Instead of bringing Doubront in the third inning, how about letting him start? Or do you really think he's going to be wrose than a 6.30 ERA pitcher? And if he is, do you really think it matters?
   17. Dan Posted: September 14, 2011 at 05:53 PM (#3924865)
Seriously, Lackey sucks badly enough without the defense giving up hits on balls that should be routine catches. Manny would have caught that ball if he had been playing LF, and Crawford wasn't even close to it. That's ####### pathetic.
   18. Phil Coorey. Posted: September 14, 2011 at 05:55 PM (#3924866)

I have to agree - Lackey is actually pure hate for me

Crawford never makes any good plays anymore , Dan. Like watching ######## here pitch - just don't expect a thing from them
   19. Jose is an Absurd Sultan Posted: September 14, 2011 at 05:56 PM (#3924867)
This is why while winning las night was great I didn't feel it changed things. This guy ####### sucks, #### him.

Safe at second, safe and secure!!
   21. Phil Coorey. Posted: September 14, 2011 at 06:01 PM (#3924870)
excellent result - this has the makings of a fun game
   22. Jose is an Absurd Sultan Posted: September 14, 2011 at 06:01 PM (#3924871)
Not that secure.

Will there be 0 outs, 1 out or 2 outs when it's 4-0?

1
   24. Jose is an Absurd Sultan Posted: September 14, 2011 at 06:04 PM (#3924877)

   25. Phil Coorey. Posted: September 14, 2011 at 06:06 PM (#3924882)
he just gives up hits - i mean just constantly

watching this lemon the night after Wakefield is so much fun
   26. Dale Sams Posted: September 14, 2011 at 06:08 PM (#3924885)
"Lackey will pitch one game of the double-header"

Is 6 innings of Aceves really worth less than 3 innings in two games where he appears with either a 3 run lead or a 3 run deficit?
   27. Jose is an Absurd Sultan Posted: September 14, 2011 at 06:09 PM (#3924887)
I don't know how accuarte it is but the MLB At Bat on my iPhone shows every strike being over the heart of the plate and the next pitch he throws below thigh level will be the first.
   28. Jose is an Absurd Sultan Posted: September 14, 2011 at 06:11 PM (#3924891)
Is 6 innings of Aceves really worth less than 3 innings in two games where he appears with either a 3 run lead or a 3 run deficit?

I don't mind starting Aceves but I think you progress as if he won't start one of those games just so Tito has him available for the weekend out of the bullpen. I'd hate to blow Sunday's game in teh 6th or 7th because Matt Albers came in instead of Aceves.
   29. Phil Coorey. Posted: September 14, 2011 at 06:13 PM (#3924895)
Give Youks credit for not getting thrown out at second there...
   30. Jose is an Absurd Sultan Posted: September 14, 2011 at 06:14 PM (#3924897)
Think Lavarnway could be late on a pitch and slam a line drive into the Sox dugout and off Lackey's nuts?

Rally killer to the plate
   33. Dan Posted: September 14, 2011 at 06:15 PM (#3924901)

Felched Cow, from my perusal of the thread from Wakefield's 200th win.
   34. Dan Posted: September 14, 2011 at 06:16 PM (#3924903)
I would legitimately bunt with Crawford here.
   35. Dan Posted: September 14, 2011 at 06:17 PM (#3924905)
Crawford should win the "Red Sox Opponents' 10th man" award.
   36. Jose is an Absurd Sultan Posted: September 14, 2011 at 06:18 PM (#3924906)
I swear to ####### God opposing teams could just have Billy "White Shoes" Johnson come to the mound and spike it like a football and Crawford would swing at it.
   37. Phil Coorey. Posted: September 14, 2011 at 06:18 PM (#3924908)

I set prices according to Sox wins and losses!!!

Jameson is cheap though as Australia play Ireland Saturday night in the rugby world cup

crawford really does suck a bag of dicks though
   38. Dale Sams Posted: September 14, 2011 at 06:19 PM (#3924910)
*is* that Dennis or Callhan? I thought that was the Glass owner. Or maybe it's just odd that such a look-alike would be sitting in "Jerry Springers" seat.

Oh, and #### you Crawford.

And #### you Tito for platooning Reddick and not Crawford. At least Reddick is a better defender.

From last night's Chatter:

253. Dan Posted: September 13, 2011 at 09:27 PM (#3924119)
3 hard hit balls for Crawford...my heart is having palpitations.

Don't worry, he'll atone for it by striking out on balls in the dirt three times tomorrow.

1 down, 2 to go.
   44. Phil Coorey. Posted: September 14, 2011 at 06:24 PM (#3924921)
Do Aussies call Soccer Football? I thought they called it Soccer.

They are trying to get people to call it football, but most still call in soccer.

I call it #### fuck #### fuck -- but I support the Hammers

hehe

Brilliant
   46. Phil Coorey. Posted: September 14, 2011 at 06:27 PM (#3924927)
I fully expect a 2 out run here

I got the Hammers to win the Treble in CM once, when they had Joe Cole. There's always hope.

I saw his debut season in 1999-2000

Joey Cole Cole Cole - loved him

Never reached his potential though

You know it's bad when you're thinking, "If we can just get to our bullpen"
   50. Jose is an Absurd Sultan Posted: September 14, 2011 at 06:32 PM (#3924937)
49 - I was just thinking that it was good news that Lackey's pitch count was so high.
   51. Phil Coorey. Posted: September 14, 2011 at 06:33 PM (#3924938)
What an exciting ballplayer
   52. Jose is an Absurd Sultan Posted: September 14, 2011 at 06:34 PM (#3924942)
I don't know what to say about Ellsbury right now. This is unreal.
   53. Jay Seaver Posted: September 14, 2011 at 06:34 PM (#3924943)
Ellsbury apparently continues to be ridiculous.
   54. Phil Coorey. Posted: September 14, 2011 at 06:38 PM (#3924949)
Anyone nervous now that Lackey has been handed back the lead?

I mean - I'm happy and all but Lackey is a useless ###### and I am fearing the worst
   55. Jay Seaver Posted: September 14, 2011 at 06:40 PM (#3924950)
54 - Nah, Lackey's MO is to get an undeserved win because the offense bludgeons the other team. Although the numbers are usually a little higher on both sides.
   56. Phil Coorey. Posted: September 14, 2011 at 06:46 PM (#3924959)
Great work Scutaro - what I'd give for a short stop that could field

Problem with that is when we get one, then the lament is "What I'd give for a shortstop who could hit".
   58. Rafael Bellylard: The Grinch of Orlando. Posted: September 14, 2011 at 06:49 PM (#3924966)
Well, three consectutive shoutout innings by John Lackey. Obviously he's turned the corner and is ready to take his rightful place as Boston's Game 1 starter in the playoffs.
   59. Jose is an Absurd Sultan Posted: September 14, 2011 at 06:51 PM (#3924971)
Let's hang a 3 spot here and stretch this out a bit.
   60. Dan Posted: September 14, 2011 at 06:54 PM (#3924975)
Lavarnway has learned that all he needs to do is hit the ball to Lawrie to get on base.
   61. Phil Coorey. Posted: September 14, 2011 at 06:55 PM (#3924978)
Let's a meatball go down the middle - love this guy
   62. Phil Coorey. Posted: September 14, 2011 at 06:56 PM (#3924983)
Would have been nice to clear Darnell there
   63. Dan Posted: September 14, 2011 at 06:57 PM (#3924984)
How does Crawford swing at balls in the dirt, and take that?
   64. Rafael Bellylard: The Grinch of Orlando. Posted: September 14, 2011 at 07:07 PM (#3924991)
Lackey ain't getting out of this inning with under 100 pitches.
   65. Dan Posted: September 14, 2011 at 07:09 PM (#3924995)
Lackey will be lucky to get out of this inning at all.
   66. Phil Coorey. Posted: September 14, 2011 at 07:10 PM (#3924996)
Nothing going Youks way lately - sheesh - should be a Jays lead soon
   67. Jay Seaver Posted: September 14, 2011 at 07:10 PM (#3924999)
Sounds like we're going to see Lowrie in as a defensive replacement for Youkilis next inning, if the radio guys are to be believed; how hobbled is he actually looking?
   68. Phil Coorey. Posted: September 14, 2011 at 07:11 PM (#3925000)
Make the most of this break Lackey
   69. Phil Coorey. Posted: September 14, 2011 at 07:12 PM (#3925003)
Prediction - he sends Lacky back in the 6th - just to #### with us all
   70. Dan Posted: September 14, 2011 at 07:12 PM (#3925004)
Well, Lackey's been lucky so far. Liner right to Crawford, and Bautista didn't tag up and score the tying run. And hey, a hard grounder right at Gonzalez. That'll do I guess.
   71. Rafael Bellylard: The Grinch of Orlando. Posted: September 14, 2011 at 07:13 PM (#3925005)
If Lackey comes out for the 6th, my head may explode.
   72. Rafael Bellylard: The Grinch of Orlando. Posted: September 14, 2011 at 07:16 PM (#3925007)
I have the over 10.5 on this game, so a little more scoring would be appeciated.
   73. Phil Coorey. Posted: September 14, 2011 at 07:21 PM (#3925017)
this is a joke - he's limping and out for the 6th
   74. Phil Coorey. Posted: September 14, 2011 at 07:22 PM (#3925018)
Of course he hits the lead off guy with speed - of course
   75. Phil Coorey. Posted: September 14, 2011 at 07:24 PM (#3925021)
Why am I not surprised - why even throw it?
   76. Phil Coorey. Posted: September 14, 2011 at 07:29 PM (#3925029)
Still livid he's even on third
   77. Joel W Posted: September 14, 2011 at 07:34 PM (#3925035)
Does anybody on this team have an out pitch?
   78. Phil Coorey. Posted: September 14, 2011 at 07:35 PM (#3925038)
Glad he was on third

:)

Picked off now!!!
   79. Jay Seaver Posted: September 14, 2011 at 07:36 PM (#3925039)
77 - Pedroia, evidently.
   80. Phil Coorey. Posted: September 14, 2011 at 07:36 PM (#3925040)
Lets hope that wakes the bats up
   81. Phil Coorey. Posted: September 14, 2011 at 07:38 PM (#3925041)
It does!!!!
   82. Famous Original Joe C Posted: September 14, 2011 at 07:38 PM (#3925042)
Nice call, Phil.
   83. Jay Seaver Posted: September 14, 2011 at 07:39 PM (#3925043)
The At Bat application is EVIL at times - it rewound thirty seconds during "Adrian Gonzalez hit one to right field deep--"

And yay Gonzo!
   84. Jose is an Absurd Sultan Posted: September 14, 2011 at 07:42 PM (#3925045)
We can (and have) ##### at length about Lackey but between he and Morales they got through six innings with just 2 runs allowed. I don't think any of us would have argued that.
   85. Joel W Posted: September 14, 2011 at 07:43 PM (#3925047)
So, uh, more than 25 home runs I guess.
   86. Joel W Posted: September 14, 2011 at 07:43 PM (#3925048)
Lackey's line, in general, looks quite nice frankly. It's the experience that's the problem.
   87. Phil Coorey. Posted: September 14, 2011 at 07:45 PM (#3925051)
I thought I saw AG limping after the home run....
   88. ellsbury my heart at wounded knee Posted: September 14, 2011 at 07:46 PM (#3925052)
I wouldn't go so far as quite nice - it's ok. If you can't be trusted to go 6, then it can't be that great. It's quite nice for Lackey, I'll give you that. Any time he can keep them in the game, it's a bonus.
   89. Jose is an Absurd Sultan Posted: September 14, 2011 at 07:52 PM (#3925058)
At this point anything we get from Lackey I'll take.
   90. Jose is an Absurd Sultan Posted: September 14, 2011 at 07:54 PM (#3925059)
I would adore a couple more runs here.
   91. Phil Coorey. Posted: September 14, 2011 at 08:01 PM (#3925071)
Great - lead off walk for Bard - he looks like crap again
   92. Phil Coorey. Posted: September 14, 2011 at 08:02 PM (#3925077)
jesus - throw a ####### strike (and get paplebon warming)

This game is ####### huge
   93. Phil Coorey. Posted: September 14, 2011 at 08:03 PM (#3925079)
He looks horrible - just ####### horrible - #### me ####### sideways
   94. Jose is an Absurd Sultan Posted: September 14, 2011 at 08:03 PM (#3925080)
Well Bard is cooked isn't he?
   95. Phil Coorey. Posted: September 14, 2011 at 08:05 PM (#3925084)
Of course not having AG costs them an out

This won't end well

He's got nothing
   96. karlmagnus Posted: September 14, 2011 at 08:05 PM (#3925085)
Bard seems to think that a 6 plus ERA is the way to get an $80 million contract
   97. Jay Seaver Posted: September 14, 2011 at 08:05 PM (#3925086)
Oh, what the hell, Bard?
   98. Joel W Posted: September 14, 2011 at 08:06 PM (#3925087)
Was just going to ask if others thought he was just fried?
   99. Phil Coorey. Posted: September 14, 2011 at 08:06 PM (#3925088)
oh for ##### sake youks - this is a ####### joke
   100. Phil Coorey. Posted: September 14, 2011 at 08:07 PM (#3925089)
