I hate this team more than ever following Hendry's comments.

So here's my conspiracy theory: Hendry knows his job is in jeopardy. Trading away players such as Pena and Byrd almost guarantees that the Cubs finish with an even worse record than they're on pace to. Without those players and the worse record that would come with it, Hendry is almost assuredly gone. With them still around, he's got a fighting chance for the team to finish with a bad record instead of an atrocious record.

This is why I desperately wanted Hendry out before the deadline. His interests are simply not aligned with the organization's at this point, and the weekend's inactivity pretty much proves it.

On the other hand, his comments today basically boil down to "we couldn't get #### for anyone," which in itself is a problem. Either he's a shitty negotiator or he had no real talent on offer, and either way it's a fireable offense and then some.

That sucks, because there's virtually no chance that they get Johnson at home there.

On the other hand, Castro killed that ball.

Wow, an actual big inning. I'm really going to be sad when they blow this.

Nice shutdown inning, Dempster. Christ.

This game is as good as lost.

This team is so depressing.

I mean seriously, why do the wheels need to fall off entirely before Quade thinks about lifting most pitchers?

Why the #### was dempster still out there for the 7th?
   11. Walks Clog Up the Bases Posted: August 01, 2011 at 02:23 AM (#3890007)
Because Quade doesn't pull his starters or key relievers until he's totally out of gas or getting shelled.

Here's Theriot to tie it up.

So no RHP for Pujols/Holliday.

Wow, late inning insurance runs. Now I've seen everything.
