I haven't seen any news on how the lineup will be set tonight but J.D. Drew leads the Red Sox in both plate appearances (30) and OPS (over 1.000) against Felix Hernandez. I won't be shocked if Tito gets him in there for that reason.
   2. Dan Posted: July 22, 2011 at 06:41 PM (#3883350)
I'll be pretty disappointed if Reddick is out of the lineup for Drew. I don't really care what the past numbers are in their match ups because Drew isn't that hitter anymore.

John Lackey vs. Felix Hernandez is one hell of a mismatch. But then again so is Boston's offense vs. Seattle's offense, so it might not turn out as badly as it would seem upon first inspection. But it probably will!
   3. Dan Posted: July 22, 2011 at 07:29 PM (#3883378)
Hooray, Tito agrees with me:

1. Jacoby Ellsbury (L) CF
2. Dustin Pedroia (R) 2B
3. Adrian Gonzalez (L) 1B
4. Kevin Youkilis (R) 1B
5. David Ortiz (L) DH
6. Carl Crawford (L) LF
7. Josh Reddick (L) RF
8. Jarrod Saltalamacchia (S) C
9. Marco Scutaro (R) SS
   4. Jose is an Absurd Sultan Posted: July 22, 2011 at 08:39 PM (#3883439)
I'm with ya' Dan, I think this is very good news. This is the clearest possible sign that Reddick is the guy.
   5. Dan Posted: July 22, 2011 at 11:17 PM (#3883538)
Of course Lackey gives up a run in the first inning to the worst offense in baseball.
   6. Fancy Pants Handle struck out swinging Posted: July 22, 2011 at 11:21 PM (#3883541)
Ugh, I feel like we only just had a Lackey start 2 days ago...
   7. Dan Posted: July 22, 2011 at 11:36 PM (#3883550)
Youk!
   8. Benji Gil Gamesh VII - The Opt-Out Awakens Posted: July 22, 2011 at 11:42 PM (#3883556)
Youk Pt 2!
   9. Dan Posted: July 22, 2011 at 11:45 PM (#3883560)
THAT is the Crawford I like to see.
   10. Chip Posted: July 22, 2011 at 11:46 PM (#3883561)
[rubs eyes]Crawford went to left with an outside pitch? Crawford hit a line drive?!?![/rubs eyes]
   11. Dan Posted: July 22, 2011 at 11:47 PM (#3883562)
This lineup has some serious ####### speed on the bases and in the outfield with all three of Crawford, Reddick, and Ellsbury playing.
   12. Dan Posted: July 22, 2011 at 11:52 PM (#3883565)
Scutaro needs replacing.
   13. Dan Posted: July 22, 2011 at 11:53 PM (#3883568)
Lavarnway just homered again.
   14. Fly is talking about film ####ing magic Posted: July 22, 2011 at 11:59 PM (#3883572)
I was wrong.
   15. Dan Posted: July 23, 2011 at 12:00 AM (#3883575)
Holy ####### #### that was launched, Ellsbury!
   16. Dan Posted: July 23, 2011 at 12:02 AM (#3883578)
Ellsbury has 7 HR in the month of July after a previous career high of 9. Jesus.
   17. Dan Posted: July 23, 2011 at 12:02 AM (#3883579)
Previous season high*
   18. Dan Posted: July 23, 2011 at 12:03 AM (#3883580)
And Lavarnway has 27 HR between AA and AAA this season now.
   19. Benji Gil Gamesh VII - The Opt-Out Awakens Posted: July 23, 2011 at 12:05 AM (#3883582)
If Ellsbury has really become a 135-140 OPS+ hitter...christ. What's he got, 2 more arb years? Time to lock him up this offseason.
   20. Dan Posted: July 23, 2011 at 12:08 AM (#3883583)
Ugh. Ortiz has been hitting the ball right at fielders a lot lately, it seems.
   21. Benji Gil Gamesh VII - The Opt-Out Awakens Posted: July 23, 2011 at 12:15 AM (#3883590)
I really enjoy watching this team.
   22. Captain Joe Bivens, Pointless and Wonderful Posted: July 23, 2011 at 12:22 AM (#3883601)
How could anyone not like Mike Lowell? I know someone who met him, and she said he was such a gentleman to her 12 year old son, so nice and approachable.
   23. Dan Posted: July 23, 2011 at 12:25 AM (#3883607)
Reddick!

I think Lowell would be an interesting Remy replacement.
   24. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 23, 2011 at 12:30 AM (#3883610)
Lowell was fun to listen to there
   25. Chip Posted: July 23, 2011 at 12:31 AM (#3883611)
Didn't sound like he was interested in Remy's job, though.
   26. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 23, 2011 at 12:34 AM (#3883615)
What the hell was that high strike call on Ells?
   27. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 23, 2011 at 12:35 AM (#3883616)
FX had that one ok it seems
   28. Dan Posted: July 23, 2011 at 12:35 AM (#3883618)
Didn't sound like he was interested in Remy's job, though.

Yeah but check back after he spend another year at home getting pestered by the kids daily.
   29. Chip Posted: July 23, 2011 at 12:36 AM (#3883620)
An out, but another rope from Ellsbury.
   30. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 23, 2011 at 12:38 AM (#3883621)
Trevor Cahill just gave up 10 runs - well done
   31. Chip Posted: July 23, 2011 at 12:41 AM (#3883622)
Nine of those runs in one inning!
   32. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 23, 2011 at 12:42 AM (#3883624)
Nice stuff AG
   33. Dan Posted: July 23, 2011 at 12:42 AM (#3883625)
The A's are like the Twins. They never beat the Yankees, even with their good pitchers pitching.
   34. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 23, 2011 at 12:43 AM (#3883626)
Nine of those runs in one inning!

Do we have him soon? I can't wait for the three hit shut out!
   35. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 23, 2011 at 12:44 AM (#3883627)
Youks pretty sure he should have swung at the 2-1
   36. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 23, 2011 at 12:44 AM (#3883628)
Jesus - another ####### DP
   37. Dan Posted: July 23, 2011 at 12:45 AM (#3883629)
3 GIDP in 5 innings. ####.
   38. Chip Posted: July 23, 2011 at 12:46 AM (#3883630)
The 0-0 to Youks was a fastball right down the pipe, might have been the most hittable one of the AB.
   39. Dan Posted: July 23, 2011 at 12:46 AM (#3883631)
On the plus side, Phil Hughes has given up 5 runs with no outs in the 4th inning to the ####### Athletics offense.
   40. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 23, 2011 at 12:48 AM (#3883632)
There's no issues with Scutaro at first - none - he is awesome there
   41. Dan Posted: July 23, 2011 at 12:48 AM (#3883634)
Nice throw, Lugo.

I mean Scutaro.
   42. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 23, 2011 at 12:50 AM (#3883636)
How does Olivo even get on base let alone steal a freaking base
   43. Dan Posted: July 23, 2011 at 12:51 AM (#3883638)
I would like to see Navarro at least got a shot at SS. I'm not saying he'll be great, but I would like to see how he is there.
   44. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 23, 2011 at 12:52 AM (#3883639)
Nice throw, Lugo.

He's a freaking joke there

Lackey hasn't been holding runners at all this year.
   46. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 23, 2011 at 12:57 AM (#3883642)
Lackey hasn't been holding runners at all this year.

I missed that - was watching Tour de France highlights briefly
   47. Darren Posted: July 23, 2011 at 12:59 AM (#3883643)
4 DPs!
   48. Dan Posted: July 23, 2011 at 12:59 AM (#3883644)
4 GIDP in 6 innings.
   49. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 23, 2011 at 12:59 AM (#3883645)
These double plays are really quite annoying
   50. Fly is talking about film ####ing magic Posted: July 23, 2011 at 01:06 AM (#3883648)
So, adequate Lackey. Are we ok with this? This would be ok.
   51. Darren Posted: July 23, 2011 at 01:07 AM (#3883649)
Lackey looks good. Lots of Ks lately.
   52. Fly is talking about film ####ing magic Posted: July 23, 2011 at 01:08 AM (#3883650)
At least we missed a pitch/hit to Ichiro so we could replay a weak foul ball from 3 innings ago!
   53. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 23, 2011 at 01:08 AM (#3883651)
Nice effort from Crawford there - ####### stellar
   54. Dan Posted: July 23, 2011 at 01:09 AM (#3883652)
For his third PA, Lavarnway draws a 7-pitch walk. 2-2, HR, 2B, BB, 3 RBI so far tonight.
   55. Darren Posted: July 23, 2011 at 01:09 AM (#3883653)
Agree with 53. How about you run until you're sure it's out of play. Youk and Scutaro too.
   56. Darren Posted: July 23, 2011 at 01:10 AM (#3883654)
Lavarnway is out of control. Every five minutes he gets a hit, usually a home run. I think he hit 2 home runs as I typed this.
   57. Dan Posted: July 23, 2011 at 01:13 AM (#3883657)
Bunt, Scoots.
   58. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 23, 2011 at 01:13 AM (#3883658)
Should not be long before another double play
   59. Dan Posted: July 23, 2011 at 01:14 AM (#3883659)
Why no bunt there?
   60. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 23, 2011 at 01:16 AM (#3883661)
2-1 looked outside
   61. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 23, 2011 at 01:17 AM (#3883662)
Another great at bat from Jacoby
   62. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 23, 2011 at 01:19 AM (#3883663)
Steal ells otherwise it'ff be a dp - hell get caught for all i care
   63. Dan Posted: July 23, 2011 at 01:20 AM (#3883664)
Anything but a double play, please, Dusty. Preferably something that adds an insurance run..
   64. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 23, 2011 at 01:21 AM (#3883666)
Gonzo will dp for sure
   65. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 23, 2011 at 01:24 AM (#3883667)
Squeezes through for a huge couple of RBI's - I thought it was a DP off the bat for sure
   66. Dan Posted: July 23, 2011 at 01:27 AM (#3883669)
Hung 6 runs on Felix Hernandez despite grounding into 4 ####### double plays. This offense is absurd right now.
   67. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 23, 2011 at 01:37 AM (#3883673)
Runs had to come I guess

I'm watching the Pirates game now - hoping for a rally here they are down 5-4
   68. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 23, 2011 at 01:41 AM (#3883674)
#### you Yadier
   69. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 23, 2011 at 01:45 AM (#3883676)
Mike Carp - seriously?
   70. Biff, highly-regarded young guy Posted: July 23, 2011 at 01:45 AM (#3883677)
Good thing the Red Sox scored 5 runs last inning!
   71. Dan Posted: July 23, 2011 at 01:46 AM (#3883678)
Well that sucks. I guess Papelbon will be glad to have a save chance.
   72. Chip Posted: July 23, 2011 at 01:48 AM (#3883679)
Morales not exactly LOOGYRIFFIC there.
   73. Biff, highly-regarded young guy Posted: July 23, 2011 at 01:49 AM (#3883680)
Cahill's ERA went from 3.16 to 3.77 today. Pretty impressive for a start in late July.
   74. Dan Posted: July 23, 2011 at 01:51 AM (#3883682)
Reddick got a good jump on that.
   75. Dan Posted: July 23, 2011 at 01:55 AM (#3883684)
Reddick played that slicing liner like Drew. I think he'll be great in RF.
   76. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 23, 2011 at 01:56 AM (#3883685)
oakland have scored 7 runs and seattle 4 - that might be the weekend quota for both teams...
   77. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 23, 2011 at 02:03 AM (#3883686)
