This is Pelfrey's 23rd start. Feels more like his 53rd.

Pagan has looked pretty toasty for awhile. I kinda wish they would have traded him for a prospect, roll the dice, playoff team needing a veteran, etc.

Ugh. Horrible throw, David.

Hey, Bay!

I am still here, but this game is a little slow.....

Also, I KNEW this offensive malaise was coming after that insane run, so weathering it is pretty annoying.

Stanton is good. I wish he was on another team.

That's gotta be a bad send. Was it Reyes?

Since he's come back from the DL, Pagan hasn't been awful. He's got a .696 OPS since then, which is surprisingly near league average.

But I would not have objected to trading him.

DUDA!

Pagan was basically red hot when he came back (random multiple endpoints, but he came back on May 27, from then till the end of June he had an 832 OPS), and now has sucked for a month, 532 OPS.

I don't really think the Mets could've got much for him, and he's mainly down this year because of the BABIP. He has the highest LD% of his career, best BB%, lowest K%. We really don't have any CF prospects for next year (Captain Kirk maybe, but he's hurt and may be better suited for a corner) so my feeling is their best bet is to go one more year with Pagan who will likely bounce back next year, and then see where they're at after 2012 re:CF.
