So I'm thinking about maybe getting a group together to go to one of the games in the Mets/Reds series in Cincinnati July 25-28. It is a Monday-Thursday series, which might be a problem for some folks, but if you're someplace in the general vicinity of "middle America" and would like to see the Mets, maybe see David Wright's return to the line-up (seems possible, doesn't it?), and meet up, speak now. Indicate which of those games you'd prefer (Thursday is an afternoon game; the others all night games) you'd prefer, and if any are out entirely. I'm almost certainly going to go -- it'd be cool if some of the insanity of this place was there, too . . . .

I see the Marlins are at least making an effort to beat the Phils.

Jeez, Sam, tough crowd! Offer an invitation and everyone scatters!

I would be honored to join you, but alas, I am not quite close enough or rich enough.

By the way, I've arrived late to every game the last three days and immediately after I've turned the game on, the Mets have taken the lead. It's uncanny.

Ruben Tejada laughs at your doubts.

Eep. This isn't good.

Hah, Niese says about Carroll's hit, "you've got to be ####### kidding me."

Kemp is very scary here.
   9. Banta Posted: July 07, 2011 at 03:56 AM (#3870713)
Umps suck. I thought it was clearly an out too on first look.

Thole does not have a major league arm.
   11. Banta Posted: July 07, 2011 at 04:11 AM (#3870720)
God, the Dodgers have played some shitty baseball.

Cohen says about Pee Wee Reese: He only hit .269 for his career.

9 years with an OPS+ 100 or above back when shortstops couldn't hit to save their lives.

I wish we lived in a world where Parnell could just pitch the ninth. When you got a guy who is throwing that well, there's no sense to pull him.
   14. Banta Posted: July 07, 2011 at 04:42 AM (#3870733)
Parnell probably wouldn't hit a double though.
   15. Banta Posted: July 07, 2011 at 04:44 AM (#3870734)
Come on, Turner, I want that run.
   16. Orange & Blue Velvet Posted: July 07, 2011 at 04:45 AM (#3870735)
It's rare that the Mets cash insurance runs, but at the risk of jinxing them, they've done a better job of it this year.
   17. Orange & Blue Velvet Posted: July 07, 2011 at 04:47 AM (#3870738)
Shut me up.
   18. Banta Posted: July 07, 2011 at 04:47 AM (#3870739)
You can't jinx them, this team has really become something different.
   19. Orange & Blue Velvet Posted: July 07, 2011 at 04:51 AM (#3870741)
We'll see, Banta. We'll see.

K-Rod's stuff has deteriorated badly. I'd look to trade him even if he wasn't making 17.5M next year.
   21. Banta Posted: July 07, 2011 at 04:55 AM (#3870744)
Frankie's the same old drama queen though.
   22. Orange & Blue Velvet Posted: July 07, 2011 at 04:57 AM (#3870745)
I think I liked Wagner better, but that's like preferring potassium cyanide to strychnine as a method of suicide.
   23. Orange & Blue Velvet Posted: July 07, 2011 at 04:57 AM (#3870746)
PUT IT IN THE BOOKS! THREE GAMES OVER! WILD CARD, #######!
   24. Banta Posted: July 07, 2011 at 04:57 AM (#3870747)
Booyah, rolling!
   25. Banta Posted: July 07, 2011 at 05:00 AM (#3870751)
I think I actually prefer KRod because his blown saves are more random. Wagner tended to have his in bigger games.
   26. Banta Posted: July 07, 2011 at 05:02 AM (#3870752)
Also, it seems like Frankie's blown saves don't result in an automatic loss. When Wagner was off, there was no stopping the bleeding.
   27. Orange & Blue Velvet Posted: July 07, 2011 at 05:04 AM (#3870755)
I liked Wagner better for his superior stuff, left handedness and the fact that he isn't a total ######### ####### who beat up an old man in front of children.

The third one weighs heavily for me in this equation.
