Wright's back!

Double!!
   2. Orange & Blue Velvet Posted: July 22, 2011 at 11:23 PM (#3883543)
That was pretty sweet.

Volstad is not a very good pitcher. [/understatement]

Wright, Reyes, and Beltran. Enjoy 'em while it lasts.
   4. AJMcCringleberry Posted: July 22, 2011 at 11:52 PM (#3883566)
Stanton is good.
   5. Sam M. Posted: July 22, 2011 at 11:53 PM (#3883567)
So Jayson Stark is speculating that the Beltran market may end up producing a trade with the Giants in which the Mets would acquire Gary Brown, San Francisco's # 1 pick last year, who is having a pretty impressive season in high Class A ball this year and whom BA pretty much loves as an outstanding all-around prospect -- a future GG center fielder who would be pretty much perfect for Citifield.

Man, Stanton has big-time power.

Feh. I'm not a fan of Gary Brown. I'm hoping Olney's rumors about Mike Minor are true.
   7. Adam Starblind Posted: July 23, 2011 at 12:13 AM (#3883588)
Minor's K rate is down this year. Dunno what that means.

Also, just when you think the Marlins announcers aren't being that assholic today, they run a "which Met has been the most disappointing in 2011" poll? Is the answer "the Marlins"??
   8. Sam M. Posted: July 23, 2011 at 12:18 AM (#3883593)
Lucas Duda needs to be fined. Great play by Bonafacio.
   9. AJMcCringleberry Posted: July 23, 2011 at 12:18 AM (#3883594)
Stupid Mets.
   10. Adam Starblind Posted: July 23, 2011 at 12:19 AM (#3883595)
Pelfrey sucks.
   11. Orange & Blue Velvet Posted: July 23, 2011 at 12:20 AM (#3883598)
Pelfrey being Pelfrey is another reason I want Minor and not a hacktastic (23 yo) A+ outfielder.
   12. Sam M. Posted: July 23, 2011 at 12:21 AM (#3883599)
Pelfrey sucks?

Well, maybe he does, but he just gave up what could/should have been a DP grounder, and got hosed because of the hit-and-run and because Duda made a play that -- if Lastings Milledge had done it -- Cohen would be talking about it for five innings. I hardly think that's a strong play to be slamming Pelfrey over.

Would the world come to an end if Pelfrey could strikeout anybody but the pitcher?
   14. Sam M. Posted: July 23, 2011 at 12:25 AM (#3883605)
Well, that sure could have come to a lot worse.
   15. Orange & Blue Velvet Posted: July 23, 2011 at 12:25 AM (#3883606)
Good enough, Pelf.
   16. AJMcCringleberry Posted: July 23, 2011 at 12:32 AM (#3883612)
Breaks!
   17. Banta Posted: July 23, 2011 at 12:41 AM (#3883623)
It's taken Daniel Murphy's play to make me really appreciate David Wright's arm.
   18. Banta Posted: July 23, 2011 at 01:04 AM (#3883647)
Nice to see Johan.
   19. AJMcCringleberry Posted: July 23, 2011 at 01:15 AM (#3883660)
I finally decided to bench Sanchez in my fantasy league, since he's sucked for two months. Not at all surprised he hit a homer.

Wow - WAR discussed by the Fish broadcast team.
   21. Orange & Blue Velvet Posted: July 23, 2011 at 01:30 AM (#3883670)
WAR discussed by the Fish broadcast team.
Which one? Revolutionary? Civil? WWI? WWII? Korean?
   22. Adam Starblind Posted: July 23, 2011 at 01:41 AM (#3883675)
Funny, because they actually pronounced it "war".
   23. Orange & Blue Velvet Posted: July 23, 2011 at 01:54 AM (#3883683)
It's hard for me to envision the "His name is Dan Uggla!!!1111" guys discussing the merits and flaws of WAR.
   24. AJMcCringleberry Posted: July 23, 2011 at 02:05 AM (#3883687)
Wright!
   25. Orange & Blue Velvet Posted: July 23, 2011 at 02:06 AM (#3883688)
Dubs!
   26. Banta Posted: July 23, 2011 at 02:21 AM (#3883692)
That error is my fault for getting all misty eyed about David's arm.
   27. Banta Posted: July 23, 2011 at 02:24 AM (#3883693)
Murphy, jesus. You are a brave soul. Stupid, but brave.
   28. Adam Starblind Posted: July 23, 2011 at 02:26 AM (#3883694)
[26] he was out
   29. Banta Posted: July 23, 2011 at 02:30 AM (#3883695)
This is the sort of games that the Mets liked to lose back when David was playing. Hoping to break that trend.
   30. Banta Posted: July 23, 2011 at 02:31 AM (#3883696)
Oh jeez, good pitch selection, I suppose, but that was a smashable slider.
   31. Banta Posted: July 23, 2011 at 02:45 AM (#3883698)
Stress til the last drop!

Izzy rocks. And hopefully these saves are upping his trade value.
