I wonder who the worst player to have a 23+ game hitting streak is. Bonifacio has to be up there.

Mike Vail is right up there, AJM.

Stanton is scary.

I didn't realize Duda hit a homer last night. I also didn't realize he's got his OPS+ up to 122.

Keith just said it: why in the hell did Sanchez throw THAT 3-1 pitch to Bay??? Glad he did, though. Come on, Josh.

DAVID WRIGHT!
   7. Sam M. Posted: July 24, 2011 at 07:16 PM (#3884357)
Beautiful AB -- took the three pitches after 0-2, and then got the pitch he wanted. Ka-BOOM.

David!! It's so cool to have the real Wright back!
   9. Sam M. Posted: July 24, 2011 at 07:21 PM (#3884365)
DW since his return:

6-14, 3 2B, 1 HR, 6 RBI

Maybe -- just maybe -- his troubles earlier in the season were related to playing with a broken back?

Sounds like Johan's bullpen session went well today, and may -- may -- lead him to start a minor league rehab assignment this week.

From the moment I heard what had happened to him, there was little doubt in my mind this was the case.

Which doesn't necessarily mean that 05-08 Wright is coming back, but '10 Wright is just fine and I didn't see why that performance wasn't sustainable. Outside of witchcraft or Mets luck or some ####.

####.

Ugh.

They seem to like Bobby Parnell's heat and his slider. Not good.
   15. Banta Posted: July 24, 2011 at 07:42 PM (#3884392)
Parnell's gonna nuke this game, isn't he?

And I know he's been pitching well, but I'm still not impressed. I know he doesn't need a lot going for him with him velocity, but his slider just plain sucks.

#### the Buck.

Can't they ever hold a lead?

Losing this game (and series) would put me in a place where I feel 100% comfortable with trading Beltran. Not that I wasn't almost there already, but this would just do it. I'd be ready to give up on the dream.

Even if it only gets a B prospect. I was ready to trade Beltran for something real nice at any point in the last couple weeks.

Time for a Reyes run.

So Jose is batting .354 right now. The highest single-season BA in Mets' history? John Olerud, 1998. .354 Interesting.

I'd be ready to give up on the dream.

I was hoping they'd be in the wild card race in September. I was planning on heading down to Miami for their series.

If it gets the Mets a future fourth outfielder (Brown), i'd rather just keep Beltran and not give another team the satisfaction of getting Beltran for ostensibly nothing.
