Well, the chimp is screwed up, shocker.

BUT

We're ahead!
   2. Zeba Zeba Eata Posted: July 26, 2011 at 11:19 PM (#3885954)
The Reds are being helpful so far.
   3. Lassus Posted: July 26, 2011 at 11:19 PM (#3885955)
Holy Toledo.

That should be an error.
   4. Banta Posted: July 26, 2011 at 11:26 PM (#3885959)
Keith Hernandez thinks Reyes isn't a below-average defensive player!

Sorry, I got to stop. Or get smarter to mathematically prove my madness.
   5. AJMcCringleberry Posted: July 26, 2011 at 11:35 PM (#3885962)
What the hell is going on?
   6. Zeba Zeba Eata Posted: July 26, 2011 at 11:35 PM (#3885964)
This is unusual.
   7. Banta Posted: July 26, 2011 at 11:37 PM (#3885965)
You can't take that #### back! It's permanent, like an STD!
   8. Lassus Posted: July 26, 2011 at 11:38 PM (#3885966)
I think that overturn was probably correct.
   9. Lassus Posted: July 26, 2011 at 11:38 PM (#3885967)
It's permanent, like an STD!

Tell that to my crabs!
   10. Banta Posted: July 26, 2011 at 11:43 PM (#3885971)
I ain't no crab whisperer.
   11. Banta Posted: July 26, 2011 at 11:53 PM (#3885979)
Brad Emaus is hitting .313/.389/.564 in AAA this year. Good for him.

Colorado Springs though. Still a good line anyway.
   12. Banta Posted: July 26, 2011 at 11:54 PM (#3885981)
Bad baserunning, Turner.
   13. Zeba Zeba Eata Posted: July 26, 2011 at 11:55 PM (#3885983)
Way to string the bloops together!
   14. Banta Posted: July 26, 2011 at 11:56 PM (#3885984)
And Turner was actually safe, it looks like.
   15. Zeba Zeba Eata Posted: July 26, 2011 at 11:58 PM (#3885985)
This is starting to get ridiculous.
   16. Banta Posted: July 26, 2011 at 11:58 PM (#3885986)
God, the Mets should be winning by like 500 with the way the Reds are playing.
   17. Lassus Posted: July 26, 2011 at 11:59 PM (#3885987)
We'll take all the help we can get.
   18. Lassus Posted: July 27, 2011 at 12:01 AM (#3885988)
None of these runs are actually earned yet, right?
   19. Banta Posted: July 27, 2011 at 12:05 AM (#3885990)
Seems like the catcher was going in slow motion right there.

I guess the throw was late.
   20. Lassus Posted: July 27, 2011 at 12:19 AM (#3886002)
Keith, you grumpy old ####, you can't say "NO" about the future, #######.
   21. Lassus Posted: July 27, 2011 at 12:33 AM (#3886014)
Is it really only the 4th inning? Egads.
   22. Banta Posted: July 27, 2011 at 12:47 AM (#3886030)
Every time you walk the ####### leadoff man, I swear to god.
   23. Zeba Zeba Eata Posted: July 27, 2011 at 12:47 AM (#3886032)
Yikes, this turned crappy quickly.
   24. Zeba Zeba Eata Posted: July 27, 2011 at 12:49 AM (#3886035)
And now, REALLY crappy.
   25. Banta Posted: July 27, 2011 at 12:49 AM (#3886036)
Ugh, I don't wanna watch this.
   26. Lassus Posted: July 27, 2011 at 12:52 AM (#3886041)
Well, that went bad awful fast.
   27. Zeba Zeba Eata Posted: July 27, 2011 at 12:58 AM (#3886046)
Thankfully, we have the Reds D to help out again.
   28. Zeba Zeba Eata Posted: July 27, 2011 at 01:01 AM (#3886051)
Way to be, Pridie!
   29. Lassus Posted: July 27, 2011 at 01:01 AM (#3886053)
Wow, I did NOT expect that from Pridie.
   30. Banta Posted: July 27, 2011 at 01:07 AM (#3886056)
Jeepers, had to leave for a minute, looks like things have turned again.

Still won't be happy til the Mets are leading by 500.
   31. Zeba Zeba Eata Posted: July 27, 2011 at 01:22 AM (#3886064)
Big K, Manny.
   32. Sam M. Posted: July 27, 2011 at 01:24 AM (#3886067)
This game is turning around more than a $10 hooker on a good night.
   33. Sam M. Posted: July 27, 2011 at 01:29 AM (#3886071)
Wright is just smoking hot. That is so difficult to do after a long stint on the DL . . .

MURPHY!!!
   34. Zeba Zeba Eata Posted: July 27, 2011 at 01:29 AM (#3886072)
Hurray for insurance runs!
   35. Lassus Posted: July 27, 2011 at 01:29 AM (#3886073)
Daniel Murphy is useful.
   36. Sam M. Posted: July 27, 2011 at 01:32 AM (#3886074)
That was actually a nice play by Renteria. I note that because of the incredibly awful way they've played otherwise tonight.
   37. Sam M. Posted: July 27, 2011 at 01:35 AM (#3886077)
Jason Pridie is really not a good player. Nice story, bad player.
   38. Lassus Posted: July 27, 2011 at 01:37 AM (#3886079)
Paulino, you idiot.
   39. Dog on the sidewalk has an ugly bracelet Posted: July 27, 2011 at 01:38 AM (#3886080)
As slow as Paulino is, he might've gotten thrown out, but that was terrible. This has been one ugly game.
   40. Lassus Posted: July 27, 2011 at 01:40 AM (#3886085)
Jose 0-5 makes me sad.
   41. Banta Posted: July 27, 2011 at 01:51 AM (#3886092)
Still only the seventh, cripes. I gotta start taking baths instead, I guess.
   42. Zeba Zeba Eata Posted: July 27, 2011 at 01:52 AM (#3886094)
Whoa, Igarashi doing good things.
   43. Sam M. Posted: July 27, 2011 at 01:53 AM (#3886096)
While Pagan was pinch-hitting a while ago, BTW, the Reds' ever-aware broadcasting crew was talking about his down year (fair enough) and said that it's been so bad that "he hardly ever plays any more." They are apparently oblivious to Angel's status as the Mets' everyday center fielder since he came off the DL in late May . . . . Ugh.
   44. Banta Posted: July 27, 2011 at 02:01 AM (#3886103)
Murphy is playing like it's '08!
   45. Lassus Posted: July 27, 2011 at 02:06 AM (#3886112)
Do we really have no one better than Iggy to pitch here?
   46. Banta Posted: July 27, 2011 at 02:10 AM (#3886120)
I was thinking the same thing, Lassus.

And I think the answer is yes. There is no one better.
   47. Banta Posted: July 27, 2011 at 02:16 AM (#3886127)
A performance where he pitches to an era of around 5 is an encouraging outing, according to Cohen.
   48. Sam M. Posted: July 27, 2011 at 02:17 AM (#3886129)
You know who's starting to intrigue me a little bit as a middle infield prospect? Jordany Valdespin. He's just moved from 2B to SS this season at Binghamton and it's showed in his errors, but he's evidently showed good range, and the power/speed combination is intriguing for a middle infielder. Completely unheralded, and he's got work to do (apparently on his attitude -- having had more than one discipline problem in the minors, including this year w/ Wally Backman), but I'm interested.
   49. Banta Posted: July 27, 2011 at 02:18 AM (#3886132)
Yipes, thought that was gone for a second.
   50. Sam M. Posted: July 27, 2011 at 02:27 AM (#3886142)
Beato to close? Really?
   51. Sam M. Posted: July 27, 2011 at 02:28 AM (#3886144)
Renteria's convinced. So am I -- IF he throws strikes.

Big if.
   52. Banta Posted: July 27, 2011 at 02:29 AM (#3886147)
David, don't break yourself again. Only go into the stands in friendly territory for the rest of the year.
   53. Banta Posted: July 27, 2011 at 02:30 AM (#3886150)
That's a tough pitch to hit, jeez.
   54. Sam M. Posted: July 27, 2011 at 02:31 AM (#3886152)
Neither Jose or Turner handled his end of that potential DP well. Blech.
   55. Banta Posted: July 27, 2011 at 02:32 AM (#3886154)
Ugh, I don't trust Byrdak any more than myself to get Bruce out.

Not that leaving Beato in is a great option either though.
   56. AJMcCringleberry Posted: July 27, 2011 at 02:32 AM (#3886155)
It can never be easy.
   57. Banta Posted: July 27, 2011 at 02:35 AM (#3886156)
If Carrasco gets into this game, I'm ripping my eyes out. I am NOT joking.
   58. AJMcCringleberry Posted: July 27, 2011 at 02:35 AM (#3886157)
Carrasco warming up. So excited.
   59. Sam M. Posted: July 27, 2011 at 02:36 AM (#3886158)
Byrdak better get him. Banta as Oedipus is really not a good thing.
   60. Zeba Zeba Eata Posted: July 27, 2011 at 02:36 AM (#3886159)
Timmy.
   61. AJMcCringleberry Posted: July 27, 2011 at 02:36 AM (#3886160)
Ballgame!
   62. Sam M. Posted: July 27, 2011 at 02:37 AM (#3886163)
BANTA CAN SEE, BANTA CAN SEE, BANTA CAN SEE!!!!!
   63. Banta Posted: July 27, 2011 at 02:37 AM (#3886164)
Cohen really excited about that strikeout.

Look at this shiny new Byrdak! Do I have a bidder?
   64. Zeba Zeba Eata Posted: July 27, 2011 at 02:38 AM (#3886167)
Good to be back over .500. This game was sort of the epitome of the Terry Collins Mets - scraping together just enough out of about everyone on the team.
   65. Sam M. Posted: July 27, 2011 at 02:38 AM (#3886168)
If I were Dusty Baker after the way my team played tonight, there would be a closed clubhouse for about the next 10 minutes. It would not be pretty.
   66. Banta Posted: July 27, 2011 at 02:39 AM (#3886169)
Banta as Oedipus is really not a good thing.

I've already compared umpiring decisions to sexually transmitted diseases tonight. I'm not touching this.
   67. Banta Posted: July 27, 2011 at 02:41 AM (#3886171)
If the Pirates could pull one out tonight... well, I can't remember when the Mets were last 6.5 out of the WC. Seems like 7.5 has been highwater for ages.
   68. Lassus Posted: July 27, 2011 at 04:41 AM (#3886234)
Holy crap, 16 innings so far.
