Reds picking up where they left off last night.
   2. Lassus Posted: July 27, 2011 at 11:38 PM (#3887111)
WTF happened to Tejada? Watching Harris play 2B makes my brain hurt.
   3. Banta Posted: July 27, 2011 at 11:49 PM (#3887129)
Tejada went down.
   4. Lassus Posted: July 27, 2011 at 11:57 PM (#3887135)
Tejada went down.

I guess I figured this, and his hitting was suffering, I just can't stand watching Harris suck.
   5. Banta Posted: July 28, 2011 at 12:07 AM (#3887148)
Yes, Harris is bad. I do not like him and I wish he didn't exist, as the Mets might have made the playoffs years ago without his presence on other teams.
   6. Dog on the sidewalk has an ugly bracelet Posted: July 28, 2011 at 12:27 AM (#3887167)
None of the runs the Mets have scored the past couple days feel deserved.
   7. Lassus Posted: July 28, 2011 at 12:28 AM (#3887169)
I hate to be greedy, but I really was hoping that was going to be a HR from Wright.
   8. AJMcCringleberry Posted: July 28, 2011 at 12:29 AM (#3887171)
The Reds defense has been helpful this series.
   9. Dog on the sidewalk has an ugly bracelet Posted: July 28, 2011 at 12:45 AM (#3887188)
The Duda abides, as they say.
   10. AJMcCringleberry Posted: July 28, 2011 at 12:47 AM (#3887195)
Alright Duda!
   11. AJMcCringleberry Posted: July 28, 2011 at 12:48 AM (#3887198)
Alan, how was your World Series?
   12. Dog on the sidewalk has an ugly bracelet Posted: July 28, 2011 at 12:52 AM (#3887205)
0-for-19. Bubbled a couple of 5ks and went from being chip leader at the end of day 1 of the 10k 6-max to out of the tournament in about an hour on day 2. Not exactly what I was looking for. Put in an offer on a nice condo before I left though, so maybe something good will come of it.
   13. Banta Posted: July 28, 2011 at 12:56 AM (#3887206)
I've barely watching Pelfrey pitch in this game. I think this should be my new philosophy for his starts.
   14. AJMcCringleberry Posted: July 28, 2011 at 12:57 AM (#3887209)
Damn, that's rough. Good luck on the condo.
   15. Sam M. Posted: July 28, 2011 at 01:02 AM (#3887212)
The first six innings of this game are conclusive proof that the Mets are better off without Carlos Beltran.

Also, that they should never acquire Carlos Marmol.
   16. Dog on the sidewalk has an ugly bracelet Posted: July 28, 2011 at 01:03 AM (#3887213)
Thanks. There were a few other offers, but I'm hopeful I can get it. As to the WSOP, I've gotten sort of immune to losses the past couple years. I was much less bothered by 6 weeks of consistent failure than would probably be expected. Not sure if it's a good thing or a bad thing. Probably has something to do with being a Mets fan.
   17. Dog on the sidewalk has an ugly bracelet Posted: July 28, 2011 at 01:04 AM (#3887214)
Let's play the Reds every day.
   18. Sam M. Posted: July 28, 2011 at 01:04 AM (#3887216)
Daniel Murphy is locked and loaded right now.

And they better never build a tribute to Carlos the Jackal at Citifield, either.
   19. Adam Starblind Posted: July 28, 2011 at 01:05 AM (#3887218)
Wright! Is it possible that Wright's back was cracked for 2.5 years and now he's better?
   20. Dog on the sidewalk has an ugly bracelet Posted: July 28, 2011 at 01:05 AM (#3887219)
Crushed!
   21. Banta Posted: July 28, 2011 at 01:05 AM (#3887221)
Whoa. Nice. That's big time power there.
   22. Sam M. Posted: July 28, 2011 at 01:06 AM (#3887222)
Speaking of locked and loaded.... WRIGHT!!!!!
   23. Lassus Posted: July 28, 2011 at 01:06 AM (#3887223)
Awesome.
   24. AJMcCringleberry Posted: July 28, 2011 at 01:07 AM (#3887225)
D-Wright!
   25. Sam M. Posted: July 28, 2011 at 01:09 AM (#3887227)
One of the big downsides of living here is that I am blocked on MLB.tv from watching the Mets broadcast when they play the Reds, and must watch on Fox Sports Ohio. Thom Brennaman must be the most worst combination of unpleasant to listen to, plus uninformed, in all of baseball. He's now talking about how Daniel Murphy is both a fluke AND should be playing left field in place of Jason Bay, showing he has no clue at all about Murphy's bat OR his ineptitude in the OF. Oy.
   26. Dog on the sidewalk has an ugly bracelet Posted: July 28, 2011 at 01:15 AM (#3887234)
Murphy is expected to go back to 2nd if Davis ever comes back, right? Why not leave him there now?
   27. Sam M. Posted: July 28, 2011 at 01:23 AM (#3887245)

Because a lot of balls would go down the right field line if they don't play anyone at first base until Ike comes back? Not to mention needing someone to hold runners on . . . .
   28. Sam M. Posted: July 28, 2011 at 01:24 AM (#3887247)
I kid, I kid, of course. I suppose you could move Duda back to 1B and play Murphy at 2B. But who do you play in RF in that instance, and is that guy worth benching Turner for?
   29. Dog on the sidewalk has an ugly bracelet Posted: July 28, 2011 at 01:28 AM (#3887254)
No. I'd rather have Turner playing than Harris or Hairston. But on days where Turner is sitting, seems like a good idea to put Murphy at 2nd and let him accumulate a bit more experience there. Harris can play right field or first base just as poorly as he plays second.
   30. AJMcCringleberry Posted: July 28, 2011 at 01:38 AM (#3887266)
Put Murphy at 2B, Duda in RF, and Turner at 1B.

Seeing if the first two can play those positions is important.
   31. Sam M. Posted: July 28, 2011 at 01:41 AM (#3887270)
BTW, Lassus, what's this business about calling Louisville "godforsaken"?
   32. Banta Posted: July 28, 2011 at 01:41 AM (#3887273)
I'm so tired of Bay swinging at missing at everything on the outside corner.
   33. AJMcCringleberry Posted: July 28, 2011 at 01:43 AM (#3887274)

Reds broadcasts are on my personal blackout list. Along with Arizona and the White Sox.
   34. Banta Posted: July 28, 2011 at 01:44 AM (#3887275)
And Pelfrey's still in there? I'm seriously never watching Pelfrey's innings again.

And as I type that, a leadoff double!
   35. Sam M. Posted: July 28, 2011 at 01:45 AM (#3887278)
Seeing if the first two can play those positions is important.

After the way Duda misplayed Jay Bruce's "triple" earlier, and what we've seen of him previously, I'm not optimistic.

But how about Pelfrey? Just now getting to 100 pitches. Impressive.
   36. Banta Posted: July 28, 2011 at 01:51 AM (#3887285)
Wow, 12 for 28, 2 HRs and 11 Rbi for Wright since his return. Awesome.

Today was an interesting day. I hope in a few years to say it was a good one. But for now, I miss Beltran.
