Morning

I benched Markakis on my fantasy team tonight, so I fully expect him to destroy the Red Sox.

Curse you! We could have had an easy win, Mr. I care more about my fantasy team than my real team!

Hey, I left Vlad in there. Surely that should offset it.
   5. Fancy Pants Handle struck out swinging Posted: July 07, 2011 at 11:25 PM (#3871349)
How can you allow a SB to a friggin catcher?
   6. Fancy Pants Handle struck out swinging Posted: July 07, 2011 at 11:27 PM (#3871350)
Strike zone is tighter than a duck's arse.
   7. Dan Posted: July 07, 2011 at 11:33 PM (#3871355)
That was dumb.

Should have had a sac fly for a run there if Ellsbury doesn't slow up around 2nd.
   8. Dan Posted: July 07, 2011 at 11:36 PM (#3871358)
Miller's only hitting 90-91 today, after similar velocity in Houston.

What happened to the 93-95 from his first start?
   9. Dan Posted: July 07, 2011 at 11:39 PM (#3871360)
Velocity looks better this inning. Seeing some 92s and 94s on the NESN gun.
   10. ellsbury my heart at wounded knee Posted: July 07, 2011 at 11:40 PM (#3871361)
There's a 94. His velocity does seem to be down a bit. Maybe he's taking a little off to get some strikes?
   11. Fancy Pants Handle struck out swinging Posted: July 07, 2011 at 11:41 PM (#3871362)
Can we field a grounder today please?
   12. ellsbury my heart at wounded knee Posted: July 07, 2011 at 11:42 PM (#3871363)
Miller has a terrible pickoff move, particularly for a lefty.
   13. Dan Posted: July 07, 2011 at 11:42 PM (#3871364)

Scutaro has 0 range to his right at this point. Not saying that was an easy play, but he looked pretty bad.
   14. ellsbury my heart at wounded knee Posted: July 07, 2011 at 11:47 PM (#3871366)
God I love opposite-field Papi (also on my fantasy team).
   15. Dan Posted: July 07, 2011 at 11:52 PM (#3871370)
Leadoff double (and man on third with 1 out) squandered. Sigh.
   16. ellsbury my heart at wounded knee Posted: July 08, 2011 at 12:07 AM (#3871378)
Sometimes Miller is like Dice-K with groundballs.
   17. Fancy Pants Handle struck out swinging Posted: July 08, 2011 at 12:16 AM (#3871385)
Gozalez you stupid hacker :P
   18. Dan Posted: July 08, 2011 at 12:17 AM (#3871386)
Didn't know Pedroia could hit a ball that far.
   19. ellsbury my heart at wounded knee Posted: July 08, 2011 at 12:18 AM (#3871388)
Sounds like Remy didn't care much for Dick Williams.
   20. Chip Posted: July 08, 2011 at 12:24 AM (#3871394)
Scutaro has 0 range to his right at this point.

Rinse, repeat.
   21. Fancy Pants Handle struck out swinging Posted: July 08, 2011 at 12:24 AM (#3871397)
Gonna give that lead right back again...
   22. Dan Posted: July 08, 2011 at 12:28 AM (#3871401)
At least Bartolo Colon finally turned back into a pumpkin.
   23. Dan Posted: July 08, 2011 at 12:29 AM (#3871403)
5 runs on 9 hits and 4 walks against 0 Ks for Colon tonight. And against the Rays impotent offense too.
   24. ellsbury my heart at wounded knee Posted: July 08, 2011 at 12:35 AM (#3871406)
Red Sox catching some breaks on bad calls lately.
   25. Dan Posted: July 08, 2011 at 12:35 AM (#3871407)
Out. Another blown call by an umpire.
   26. Jay Seaver Posted: July 08, 2011 at 12:38 AM (#3871409)
Wow. Sloppy defense is not a great response to a bad call, O's.
   27. Dan Posted: July 08, 2011 at 12:42 AM (#3871411)
Scutaro really needs to lose some PT to Navarro. He's not getting jack #### done on either side of the ball.

The Boston version of Jeter, c'mon down!
   29. Dan Posted: July 08, 2011 at 12:59 AM (#3871422)
That ball was ####### demolished.
   30. Dan Posted: July 08, 2011 at 01:03 AM (#3871425)
An insurance run (or 3) from Reddick here would be amazing.
   31. Dan Posted: July 08, 2011 at 01:04 AM (#3871426)
Damnit.
   32. Hugh Jorgan Posted: July 08, 2011 at 01:13 AM (#3871434)
Nice, Aceves with the 7 pitch inning.
   33. Jay Seaver Posted: July 08, 2011 at 01:19 AM (#3871438)
Remember people talking about Jacoby Ellsbury as a question mark after last year? Seems like a long time ago.
   34. Dan Posted: July 08, 2011 at 01:19 AM (#3871439)
Holy ####, Ellsbury.
   35. Hugh Jorgan Posted: July 08, 2011 at 01:21 AM (#3871440)
Ellsbury, flashing the power.

As someone who was one of his biggest doubters, please allow me to put my tail between my legs and declare how incorrect I was about his ability to develop into a really good all around hitter.
   36. Jay Seaver Posted: July 08, 2011 at 01:28 AM (#3871446)
At this rate, Aceves may finish the game.

He might as well with the 4 run lead. No reason to burn another reliever as long as he's pitching well.
   38. Dan Posted: July 08, 2011 at 01:36 AM (#3871449)
Ortiz remembering how to hit lefties has been quite fortuitous.
   39. Jay Seaver Posted: July 08, 2011 at 01:38 AM (#3871453)
Well, this has become fun after that frustrating first inning.
   40. Dan Posted: July 08, 2011 at 01:39 AM (#3871454)
Reddick!!!! I love that guy!

Sorry, Drew, but you need to ride the pine when Crawford is back.

   43. Joel W Posted: July 08, 2011 at 01:40 AM (#3871458)
Ellsbury and Pedroia have been just awesome lately. Pedroia's June and July are MVP caliber. Ellsbury is among the group of top 5 CFs in the league who are vying for the best.

Maybe the most annoying recurring theme w/ last year's Red Sox was people questioning Ellsbury's "heart" and it's nice to see him so good this year.
   44. Jay Seaver Posted: July 08, 2011 at 01:41 AM (#3871459)
Man, doesn't Youk feel like a loser right now? :)

C'mon, Drew, you've got a long ball in you.

I blame the signing of Mike Cameron for last years fiasco

Viola had given up 2 HR in 31.2 IP between AAA and the majors before tonight.
   48. Hugh Jorgan Posted: July 08, 2011 at 01:44 AM (#3871464)
AND JD WITH...the walk...
   49. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 08, 2011 at 01:47 AM (#3871467)
Redick homered of a lefty - can we please remind Tito a million times....
   50. Hugh Jorgan Posted: July 08, 2011 at 01:50 AM (#3871471)
Redick homered of a lefty

But he can't hit lefties Phil...

I love Reddick, dude always seems to hit the ball hard.

I fucking hope so.
   53. Joel W Posted: July 08, 2011 at 02:03 AM (#3871483)
Reddick and Ellsbury are definitely swinging and hitting the ball harder than I remember. Despite all the injuries I've found myself really enjoying rooting for the team, and watching on MLBTV most nights I'm home, which has kind of surprised me to be honest. It's fun having this much homegrown talent and Adrian Gonzalez and Ortiz all being so good. Even Saltalamacchia feels homegrown since they took such a flier on making him the starting catcher.

Reddick always hit the ball hard when he connected, his problem was pitch recognition.
   55. Jay Seaver Posted: July 08, 2011 at 02:05 AM (#3871486)
Absolute laser up the middle by Papi that the shortstop intercepted there.
