I just got in from a flight and saw this game tied in the 14th inning. I was hoping some people would be around.

I hope the Pirates win.

Didn't there used to be Braves fans who hung out in Chatter?
   3. Dock Ellis Posted: July 27, 2011 at 04:24 AM (#3886226)
We go into the 16th!

Cristhian Martinez of the Braves is having a gangsta pitching performance tonight. 5 shutout inngins, 6k, 1 hit, no walks. And he's going on inning number 6.

Uh oh, it's EDSP ... that should be the end of this!

Go Pirates!
   6. plink Posted: July 27, 2011 at 04:50 AM (#3886240)
Martinez looked quite good.

In what planet are you walking anybody to get to McCutchen in the 17th inning?
   8. Miserable, Non-Binary Candy is all we deserve CoB Posted: July 27, 2011 at 05:05 AM (#3886248)
Damn, Scotty Proctor with the quality once-every-four-years at bat.
   9. Dale Sams Posted: July 27, 2011 at 05:07 AM (#3886251)
Carl Crawford would have struck out 3 times in Proctor's AB...man the Pirates guys are a snoozefest, I gotta go with Atlanta.

I miss when WGN and TBS were the only places to find baseball

Pirates going ahead this inning, then Rick Camp will tie it with a HR.
   11. Dock Ellis Posted: July 27, 2011 at 05:11 AM (#3886255)
18th inning!
   12. Miserable, Non-Binary Candy is all we deserve CoB Posted: July 27, 2011 at 05:20 AM (#3886260)
Hmmm, they should stop hitting the ball at Freddie Freemen ...
   13. Dale Sams Posted: July 27, 2011 at 05:23 AM (#3886261)
dawwwwww

Freemen? Freeman? Freamon? Fremen?

Does he know the weirding way?
   15. plink Posted: July 27, 2011 at 05:31 AM (#3886268)
Braves announcers totally fooled by Gonzalez's liner.
   16. Dock Ellis Posted: July 27, 2011 at 05:31 AM (#3886269)
19th inning!

This has been something of a McCutchen/Martinez pitcher's duel.
   17. Transmission Posted: July 27, 2011 at 05:39 AM (#3886271)
I decided to catch the end of this game on mlb.tv. That was in the eighth inning. There have been hunger strikes shorter than this game.
   18. plink Posted: July 27, 2011 at 05:51 AM (#3886275)
Wait, what?
   19. plink Posted: July 27, 2011 at 05:52 AM (#3886276)
That was a pretty terrible call.
   20. Dock Ellis Posted: July 27, 2011 at 05:52 AM (#3886277)
Bullshit. Umpire just wanted to go home.
   21. flournoy Posted: July 27, 2011 at 05:53 AM (#3886278)
That was the coolest and dumbest game ever. Lugo was out by about ninety feet. I'm going to bed.
   22. Miserable, Non-Binary Candy is all we deserve CoB Posted: July 27, 2011 at 05:53 AM (#3886279)
Well, that's a time-to-get-out-of-here call.

Staggering.
   23. Dale Sams Posted: July 27, 2011 at 05:54 AM (#3886280)
On *one* angle it looked like the swipe missed him twice...other ones he's out.
   24. Transmission Posted: July 27, 2011 at 05:55 AM (#3886281)
I stayed up for THAT?
   25. Miserable, Non-Binary Candy is all we deserve CoB Posted: July 27, 2011 at 05:57 AM (#3886284)
It's certainly possible that the tag was missed there, it was definitely a swipe tag that didn't make a whole lot of contact.

But, given the situation and the fact that the ball beat the runner by 10 feet, you'd have to be 150% certain the catcher missed the tag to call the runner safe and I just didn't see any angle that showed anything resembling that.
   26. Orange & Blue Velvet Posted: July 27, 2011 at 06:03 AM (#3886289)
One of the worst calls i've ever seen. Even if he missed the tag (barely), he's getting called out 99.99% of the time.

If I was a Pirates fan, i'd be apoplectic.
   27. Mike A Posted: July 27, 2011 at 06:20 AM (#3886293)
Sorry, Pirates fans. 'Twas an epic game that deserved a better ending.

I'll take the win, I guess.
