Slightly more favorite matchup for the Red Sox tonight than they had last night.

This is code for "Wakefield isn't pitching", right?
   3. Dan Posted: July 30, 2011 at 11:32 PM (#3889188)
Not only is Wakefield not pitching, but Lester is pitching.
   4. Dan Posted: July 30, 2011 at 11:38 PM (#3889191)
You'd think that a gold glove left fielder would hold a catcher a single on that ball.
   5. Joel W Posted: July 30, 2011 at 11:44 PM (#3889194)
Seriously? Did they sign him for his arm? I would have thought that if he had a good arm he'd be in right, but maybe I'm wrong.

Time for some Ellsbury power.
   7. Fancy Pants Handle struck out swinging Posted: July 30, 2011 at 11:47 PM (#3889200)
Or you know, strike out looking. That's cool too...

Jimenez to Cleveland is almost wrapped up, if anyone's in here and not reading the main board.

Wonder when the bats will break out again
   10. Dan Posted: July 31, 2011 at 12:05 AM (#3889228)
I'm starting to think that Theo is going to pull off a \"######' A" deal out of nowhere, but I'll probably be disappointed at 4 PM tomorrow when it's just a couple more minor moves.

Yankees won game 1, up 12-0 in the 1st inning in game 2 against the O's.
   12. Fancy Pants Handle struck out swinging Posted: July 31, 2011 at 12:08 AM (#3889231)
I was just going to ask if that was a GD glitch. The Orioles are really bad.
   13. Dan Posted: July 31, 2011 at 12:08 AM (#3889232)
I'm not sure I've seen a 1-5-3 double play before.
   14. Dan Posted: July 31, 2011 at 12:11 AM (#3889235)
Most runs in the first inning in Yankees history. That's impressive, considering the offenses they have had.
   15. Dan Posted: July 31, 2011 at 12:12 AM (#3889237)
Steal second!
   16. Joel W Posted: July 31, 2011 at 12:13 AM (#3889240)
Happy Dan?
   17. Dan Posted: July 31, 2011 at 12:14 AM (#3889241)
Yes!

SALTYY!!!
   18. Dan Posted: July 31, 2011 at 12:15 AM (#3889243)
I think Reddick is faster than people realize.
   19. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 31, 2011 at 12:15 AM (#3889244)
That's the Crawford they signed - a menace on the basepaths

Also Remy's shtik is getting real ####### old. I'm so over him

Since they are plaing the Orioles, I think it deserves an asterisk though...

Also, I love this team.

Also, Crawford has been striking the ball well today/yesterday despite the 0-fers until the last hit.

Steal on this complete and utter lemon , Jacoby /.

I sort of hope the Sox trade for a pitcher , otherwise I have to sell one of the kids...

Good stuff Pedey

Not waking up quite in the way I'd imagine, but 3 runs are 3 runs.

That's what you get! Stupid IBB'ers.

#### you, Morel. Finally you stop making plays on ####### everything!
   31. Dan Posted: July 31, 2011 at 12:23 AM (#3889262)
Wow, Humber lifted? Didn't seem like he was pitching that badly.

Kevin Goldstein
I was going to start writing up the Ubaldo trade to Cleveland, but now I'm totally not starting that. #ThingsGettingWacky #FlightTracker
   33. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 31, 2011 at 12:24 AM (#3889264)
Glad the IBB totally ###### him sideways btw
   34. Famous Original Joe C Posted: July 31, 2011 at 12:24 AM (#3889265)
Love this team. They lead the league in OBP and slugging, and they can throw Ellsbury and Crawford at you on the bases.
   35. Fancy Pants Handle struck out swinging Posted: July 31, 2011 at 12:25 AM (#3889266)
It feels like Youk has been making teams pay for those IBB's. That might just be selective memory, and even if not it's completely meaningless. But it still makes me happy.
   36. Famous Original Joe C Posted: July 31, 2011 at 12:25 AM (#3889268)
In other news, the Yankees got 9 in 0.1 innings off Zach Britton, and lead 15-0 after 2.
   37. Dan Posted: July 31, 2011 at 12:26 AM (#3889269)
Pedroia and Reddick are base stealing threats as well.
   38. Captain Joe Bivens, Pointless and Wonderful Posted: July 31, 2011 at 12:26 AM (#3889271)
Yeah, they should be able to hold on.

WRT Edes, it's so nice when reporters know how to use Twitter.

He hit that awesome three run homer off Helickson in June after an IBB
   41. Dan Posted: July 31, 2011 at 12:34 AM (#3889278)
Lars Anderson lifted from the game in Pawtucket. Clearly we're getting Felix Hernandez!
   42. Dan Posted: July 31, 2011 at 12:35 AM (#3889279)
In all seriousness, Lars could perhaps be headed somewhere for a reliever or something, maybe?

I love the MLB trade deadline. Just for the record.
   44. Dan Posted: July 31, 2011 at 12:38 AM (#3889283)
I do too Biff. Twitter has made it into pure insanity too.

Yep me to - I'll always remember the crazy threads from the Nomar and more so the Manny/Bay trades - that was insane

I don't know how I would feel about this. On the one hand, Lars has lost a lot of prospect value the last few years. On the other hand, the Sox bullpen is actually pretty good and Lars is only 23 and somewhat holding his own in AAA. I just get the weird feeling that trading Lars has a decent chance of burning the Red Sox.

Tell me about it - mlbtraderumours is doing a hell of a job

Yankees 16-1 now - go get em Orioles
   48. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 31, 2011 at 12:41 AM (#3889288)
Let's wait and see what Lars is traded for - like Dan said - it could be Felix!:)
   49. Captain Joe Bivens, Pointless and Wonderful Posted: July 31, 2011 at 12:42 AM (#3889289)
Or Ubaldo.
   50. Joel W Posted: July 31, 2011 at 12:43 AM (#3889290)
It's certainly the best of the trade deadlines.
   51. Joel W Posted: July 31, 2011 at 12:50 AM (#3889291)
This Lester guy is pretty good.
   52. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 31, 2011 at 12:51 AM (#3889293)
Or Ubaldo.

Who worries me - I saw somewhere that they refused to give the Yankees his medical records - Heyman I think
   53. Captain Joe Bivens, Pointless and Wonderful Posted: July 31, 2011 at 12:53 AM (#3889294)
I mentioned possible health issues in the Ubaldo thread, and a couple/few people dismissed it, sort of.
   54. Captain Joe Bivens, Pointless and Wonderful Posted: July 31, 2011 at 12:58 AM (#3889298)
The 1B ump has had a few demonstrative punch outs this game.
   55. Biff, highly-regarded young guy Posted: July 31, 2011 at 01:13 AM (#3889301)
Jeez, that wasn't even a bad pitch.
   56. Biff, highly-regarded young guy Posted: July 31, 2011 at 01:15 AM (#3889304)
Walking the corpse of Adam Dunn is pretty bad. He's only thrown 78 pitches though.

Oh god, Miller vs. Buehrle tomorrow. Of course, the Red Sox will probably win that one somehow.
   57. The Well-Tempered Javier Vasquez (loungehead) Posted: July 31, 2011 at 01:21 AM (#3889310)
I only have ESPN's gamecast up (sadly, at work), but two of the balls to Dunn were well within the strike zone (one was pretty much straight down the middle). Did they actually look like balls in the broadcast?
   58. Biff, highly-regarded young guy Posted: July 31, 2011 at 01:29 AM (#3889314)
Wow, nice running by Reddick. I can't believe they tried to score on that.
   59. Biff, highly-regarded young guy Posted: July 31, 2011 at 01:32 AM (#3889317)
Reports coming in that the Red Sox are acquiring Rich Harden. No idea what they're giving up yet, but I think Harden would be a very good acquisition.
   60. Biff, highly-regarded young guy Posted: July 31, 2011 at 01:35 AM (#3889319)
I don't understand why Alex Rios is still a starter. He's clearly not a good baseball player anymore.

Because he's being paid a lot of money.
   62. Biff, highly-regarded young guy Posted: July 31, 2011 at 01:40 AM (#3889324)
I just went into Athletics Nation and they're pretty happy about the thought of Lars + shinies for Harden, which surprises me given how much Lars's stock has fallen.
   63. Drew (Primakov, Gungho Iguanas) Posted: July 31, 2011 at 01:42 AM (#3889326)
Rios simply doesn't give a ####.
   64. Biff, highly-regarded young guy Posted: July 31, 2011 at 01:47 AM (#3889331)
Mark Grace homered!
   65. Fancy Pants Handle struck out swinging Posted: July 31, 2011 at 01:47 AM (#3889332)
We have successfully manufactured a save situation. Well done everybody!
   66. Fancy Pants Handle struck out swinging Posted: July 31, 2011 at 01:50 AM (#3889335)
Well so much for that. Boo offense. Won't anyone think of the closers!?
   67. Dan Posted: July 31, 2011 at 01:50 AM (#3889336)
Heyman says Harden for Lars + PTBNL
   68. Biff, highly-regarded young guy Posted: July 31, 2011 at 01:50 AM (#3889337)
Heh. Brian Bruney. I remember being pretty annoyed when he was good for the Yankees even though he's a terrible pitcher.
   69. Biff, highly-regarded young guy Posted: July 31, 2011 at 01:53 AM (#3889340)
Salty is hitting White Sox pitching very well.
   70. Dan Posted: July 31, 2011 at 01:55 AM (#3889342)
I think Lars might play well somewhere, but I don't think he has enough power to succeed at the Coliseum in Oakland.
   71. Dan Posted: July 31, 2011 at 01:57 AM (#3889343)
Suddenly we have a double digit score again.
   72. Dan Posted: July 31, 2011 at 01:58 AM (#3889344)
I like the Harden pickup. I slightly preferred Bedard over him until seeing Bedard's complete lack of control last night, but I'm glad to have Harden. Will he be the only move (besides Aviles)?
   73. Fancy Pants Handle struck out swinging Posted: July 31, 2011 at 02:13 AM (#3889354)
I hate that GS auto plays the last video, as soon as the game finishes. Unexpectedly hearing Hawks obnoxious voice almost sent me to the hospital...
