Anatomy of a loss.

Pop quiz, what's this line:

67 G, .295/.325/.452, 6 HR, 10/13 SB.
   3. Benji Gil Gamesh VII - The Opt-Out Awakens Posted: August 14, 2011 at 08:14 PM (#3899793)
Ugh, bad call on Pedey.

Carl Crawfords last 67 games?
   5. Benji Gil Gamesh VII - The Opt-Out Awakens Posted: August 14, 2011 at 08:20 PM (#3899802)
Yep.
   6. Jose is an Absurd Sultan Posted: August 14, 2011 at 08:24 PM (#3899803)
Nice to see Youk back in there

Wakefield breaks Wily Mo's bat!
   8. Captain Joe Bivens, Pointless and Wonderful Posted: August 14, 2011 at 08:33 PM (#3899811)
OK, let's see them get to Furrybush.
   9. Captain Joe Bivens, Pointless and Wonderful Posted: August 14, 2011 at 08:36 PM (#3899815)
We got a runna.
   10. Captain Joe Bivens, Pointless and Wonderful Posted: August 14, 2011 at 08:39 PM (#3899816)
Jerry was looking for beef...that's code. He's coming out of the closet. COME ON, SALTY. WTF??
   11. Jay Seaver Posted: August 14, 2011 at 08:47 PM (#3899821)
Stop showing us the roof, NESN!

Well, that's not idea.
   12. Benji Gil Gamesh VII - The Opt-Out Awakens Posted: August 14, 2011 at 08:47 PM (#3899822)
In other news, it's looking like Uggla's best chance to extend the streak is for the Braves to send it to extras.
   13. Jay Seaver Posted: August 14, 2011 at 08:48 PM (#3899824)
Ideal, even. The runner on third with no outs is not ideal.
   14. Jay Seaver Posted: August 14, 2011 at 08:53 PM (#3899825)
Ah, it's the year's completely random call of safe at second when the fielder was only close. Good time for it!

/grumble
   15. Benji Gil Gamesh VII - The Opt-Out Awakens Posted: August 14, 2011 at 08:56 PM (#3899830)
In fairness, Lowrie wasn't really close.

This blows though.
   16. Jay Seaver Posted: August 14, 2011 at 08:56 PM (#3899831)
Wakefield appears to have nothing. Is Miller or Aceves the designated guy for this situation now?
   17. Dan Posted: August 14, 2011 at 08:57 PM (#3899833)
Can we ####### put Wakefield out to pasture yet?
   18. Darren Posted: August 14, 2011 at 08:57 PM (#3899834)
Oh please. There's no chance the ump could see if he was touching or not. And he looked like he was. First the dumb fan interference and now this.
   19. Darren Posted: August 14, 2011 at 09:02 PM (#3899835)
Pedroia murdered that. We're due for a bad streak of luck.
   20. Phil Coorey. Posted: August 14, 2011 at 09:02 PM (#3899836)
Morning everyone

Wakefield appears to have nothing.

Sounds familiar!
   21. Darren Posted: August 14, 2011 at 09:05 PM (#3899837)
Wow, Gonzalez is slow. Imagine him at 35. And whatever you do, don't imagine having Matt Holliday at 35.
   22. Jay Seaver Posted: August 14, 2011 at 09:05 PM (#3899838)
Hey, Mr. Ortiz - not a good day to get on the umpires' bad side.
   23. Darren Posted: August 14, 2011 at 09:06 PM (#3899839)
Gonzalez didn't know that would fall? Are you kidding?
   24. Dan Posted: August 14, 2011 at 09:07 PM (#3899840)
This situation calls for a righty Lowrie grand slam.
   25. Darren Posted: August 14, 2011 at 09:07 PM (#3899841)
What do you guys think of trying Pedroia at cleanup and Youk at #2 for a while? I'd like to see if Pedroia likes that spot as much as it seems.
   26. Darren Posted: August 14, 2011 at 09:08 PM (#3899843)
I though for a second that Gonzalez might hold. Ha.
   27. Jay Seaver Posted: August 14, 2011 at 09:08 PM (#3899844)
Yeah, I guess that's deep enough to score Gonzalez. But I admit, I was worried.
   28. Dan Posted: August 14, 2011 at 09:09 PM (#3899845)
I guess a sac fly is better than nothing, but why can't this team ever get a hit with the bases loaded?
   29. Darren Posted: August 14, 2011 at 09:09 PM (#3899846)
I don't care how you slice up the stats. Crawford's still not very good.
   30. Dan Posted: August 14, 2011 at 09:10 PM (#3899848)
Another stellar effort from Crawford.
   31. Dan Posted: August 14, 2011 at 09:14 PM (#3899850)
Arthur Rhodes?
   32. Darren Posted: August 14, 2011 at 09:19 PM (#3899854)
That was a Wakefield-esque HBP avoidance attempt by Ellsbury.
   33. Jay Seaver Posted: August 14, 2011 at 09:22 PM (#3899856)
(Checks BBRef)

Charlie Furbush is not good enough for this game to be half-over already.
   34. Phil Coorey. Posted: August 14, 2011 at 09:25 PM (#3899860)
This should get ugly pretty quickly now - so who is Wake's next start against? Hopefully that will be 200 and he can #### off and retire
   35. Dan Posted: August 14, 2011 at 09:26 PM (#3899861)
Wakefield is a ####### embarrassment. Take your #### and get off the damn mound and go home.
   36. Jay Seaver Posted: August 14, 2011 at 09:28 PM (#3899863)
Pena with the fielder's choice. That's progress, I guess.
   37. Biff, highly-regarded young guy Posted: August 14, 2011 at 09:35 PM (#3899865)
Oh c'mon, that should have been a hit.
   38. Phil Coorey. Posted: August 14, 2011 at 09:35 PM (#3899866)
Two good catches have cost two runs so far
   39. Jay Seaver Posted: August 14, 2011 at 09:35 PM (#3899867)
Friggin' Ichiro.
   40. Dan Posted: August 14, 2011 at 09:36 PM (#3899868)
Oh #### off, Ichiro
   41. Biff, highly-regarded young guy Posted: August 14, 2011 at 09:36 PM (#3899869)
Yeah, why not.
   42. Biff, highly-regarded young guy Posted: August 14, 2011 at 09:39 PM (#3899872)
Well, it's understandable that Red Sox pitching couldn't do well against the steamroller Seattle offense.
   43. Phil Coorey. Posted: August 14, 2011 at 09:40 PM (#3899874)
Jesus - only 67 pitches - leave him in there and give the pen a real rest for the upcoming double header

I don't care if he gives up 15 runs.
   44. Dan Posted: August 14, 2011 at 09:44 PM (#3899876)
Everything was tattooed that inning too, Wakefield was just lucky 2 of them were at Youkilis and the third was a ball Seager got under.
   45. Dan Posted: August 14, 2011 at 09:47 PM (#3899878)
Lester and Bedard both in the DH. That should be a rough day for TB.
   46. Jay Seaver Posted: August 14, 2011 at 09:49 PM (#3899879)
There's not going to be one break this game, is there?
   47. Phil Coorey. Posted: August 14, 2011 at 09:49 PM (#3899880)
Another great grab - the sooner this ends the better - I might go and watch the PGA anyway
   48. Jay Seaver Posted: August 14, 2011 at 09:50 PM (#3899881)
(Not that the Red Sox, playing the Mariners, should even need to be concerned with breaks)
   49. Dan Posted: August 14, 2011 at 09:51 PM (#3899883)
More line drive outs and warning track flies. 0 breaks going our way in this one.
   50. Jay Seaver Posted: August 14, 2011 at 09:57 PM (#3899887)
I can't get cranky about Wily Mo getting a hit. I am just irrationally fond of that guy.
   51. Jay Seaver Posted: August 14, 2011 at 10:01 PM (#3899890)
Huh, there's a new Jeff Gray. I wonder how the old one would rank in terms of taking forever to pitch. Would he still be agonizingly slow, or has the game caught up with him?
   52. Jay Seaver Posted: August 14, 2011 at 10:05 PM (#3899893)
Youk!
   53. Mattbert Posted: August 14, 2011 at 10:06 PM (#3899894)
Youktatoes!
   54. Phil Coorey. Posted: August 14, 2011 at 10:08 PM (#3899895)
Youks homer landed in the stands as the Dufner tee shot hit the water at the PGA
   55. Dan Posted: August 14, 2011 at 10:22 PM (#3899906)
League's stuff is looking much better than I can remember it being in the last couple years.
   56. Jay Seaver Posted: August 14, 2011 at 10:22 PM (#3899907)
Am I bad baseball fan for looking at this game potentially being done in less than 2:15 and feeling ripped off? I mean, the party line is that they should be played quickly, right?
   57. Jay Seaver Posted: August 14, 2011 at 10:25 PM (#3899912)
Well, that was some kind of disappointing.
   58. Mattbert Posted: August 14, 2011 at 10:25 PM (#3899914)
Bollocks.
   59. tfbg9 Posted: August 15, 2011 at 12:22 AM (#3899982)
Timmy stinks.
