Triple play?

Lavarnway's defense looks better than Varitek's and at least as good as Salty's (pre September choking version)

Yeah, Wood had nothing, but that game tying HR was something. One of the most memorable Cub HR's of my lifetime.

Good point. The visual of the fans in the packed bleachers literally jumping up and down any time the Cubs hit a homer in that postseason is one that is etched in my memory.

The same freakin thing happened in Game 6 when Prior got into trouble late in the game. Why in world Dusty didn't have someone at the very least warming up before Prior went out there I do not know.

That team was really all starting pitching. The offense was just good enough in the second half to support that rotation. The pen was a hodgepodge of guys like Mark Guthrie, Dave Veres, and Antonio Alfonseca.

close. Double play and a strike out.

And it is still silly to think Prior could throw a CG in Game 6 or that somehow Kerry was going to give you 7 or 8 innings in Game 7.

I think in all seriousness that there is a very decent chance that Tito resigns if they don't make the playoffs. His health is apparently not so good, and I can see him walking away.

FRANCONA CHANGES SOX

Interesting. Were he available, I'd certainly call him if I were the ChiSox; going from a circus to a guy like Francona would be the way to go.
   661. Dan Posted: September 28, 2011 at 02:13 AM (#3940303)
Lavarnway playing more definitely would've helped this month. Varitek and Salty have both been godawful both offensively and defensively in September.

He managed in their system in Birmingham in the mid 90s as well.

So... should there be a playoff game who gets the TB start?

663 - I'd go Beckett then Wake, try and get 8 outs from each then hope the bullpen can piece it together. My hope is that Wakes knuckled might put Tampa off their game. It's not much but there are no good options.

Because it is absolutely impossible for the Sox to lose at this point. Seriously. I doubt the O's will even threaten in the 9th.
