Oh that's good news.

God I hope that Price is the one traded this offseason. I'm so damn sick of watching his overrated ass fail to live up to the hype surrounding him.
   205. Biff, highly-regarded young guy Posted: September 28, 2011 at 11:54 PM (#3941983)
Why would it be irrelevant? You don't want to push a guy into scoring position, at least I don't.

It's usually said in the context of there being a runner on second base. In this instance, sure, the runner is on third rather than second.

Weird, Tex stopped at 3rd on his grand slam.

That 2-0 pitch is what MCoA was talking about, would've liked to see Lavarnway aggressive there.
   210. Matt Clement of Alexandria Posted: September 28, 2011 at 11:55 PM (#3941988)
Please explain the "boor" joke. Please?
Simpsons. Mr. Burns refers to someone as having "the boorish manners of a Yalie."

Teixeira!!!
   212. Biff, highly-regarded young guy Posted: September 28, 2011 at 11:55 PM (#3941991)
I guess I see the "not pushing them into scoring position" point. Either way I think IBBs are ####### stupid with two outs, which is why I get so frustrated when the Red Sox don't punish them.
   213. Captain Joe Bivens, Pointless and Wonderful Posted: September 28, 2011 at 11:55 PM (#3941994)
Yeah, trade Price to the Red Sox, please.
   214. ellsbury my heart at wounded knee Posted: September 28, 2011 at 11:55 PM (#3941996)
Teixeira, good for my fantasy team and good for the Red Sox. Nice.

Gonzalez was running on 2-2?!?! He would have been thrown out even if he were halfway to second when the pitch was thrown!
   217. Darren Posted: September 28, 2011 at 11:57 PM (#3942004)
I get it now. Thanks.
   218. Jose is an Absurd Sultan Posted: September 28, 2011 at 11:57 PM (#3942005)
Wonder if GOnzalez thought it was 3-2.
   219. Matt Clement of Alexandria Posted: September 28, 2011 at 11:57 PM (#3942008)
Damn.

That Yankee non-squander almost makes up for this one. Almost.
   224. Dan Posted: September 28, 2011 at 11:58 PM (#3942015)
So Gonzalez lost track of the count. This team has failed at so many fundamentals this month it's just jaw dropping.
   225. Hugh Jorgan Posted: September 28, 2011 at 11:59 PM (#3942017)
Crap. Oh well, we got 1 and NY is up 5. So after early innings, I would've taken that if offered before both games started.
   226. Captain Joe Bivens, Pointless and Wonderful Posted: September 28, 2011 at 11:59 PM (#3942020)
They're gonna get to this guy every inning, until they take him out, then they'll get to the bullpen. It's up to Lester and the weather.
   227. Benji Gil Gamesh VII - The Opt-Out Awakens Posted: September 28, 2011 at 11:59 PM (#3942021)

   234. Biff, highly-regarded young guy Posted: September 29, 2011 at 12:02 AM (#3942041)
Walking Chris Davis. Nice.

Jesus Aviles sucks

Still looks like it could be 45 minutes or so before the rain really hits Baltimore.

   274. Captain Joe Bivens, Pointless and Wonderful Posted: September 29, 2011 at 12:09 AM (#3942104)
They're down one run against a shitful pitcher and shitful bullpen.
   275. Jim Wisinski Posted: September 29, 2011 at 12:10 AM (#3942107)
I hope Price blows out his elbow on the next pitch.
   276. Benji Gil Gamesh VII - The Opt-Out Awakens Posted: September 29, 2011 at 12:10 AM (#3942110)

I'm going to make myself a drink. I think it's time for something with rye, stirred not shaken. Vieux carre... Yeah, that'll work

One of the first bad pitches Lester's thrown, and it gets tattooed. Question is how he'll respond.

Like all our starting pitchers do - he'll cough up more runs
   279. Textbook Editor Posted: September 29, 2011 at 12:11 AM (#3942116)
Swisher with a leadoff double.

Jim, would they go to Moore here even down 5?
   280. Phil Coorey. Posted: September 29, 2011 at 12:11 AM (#3942118)
Sox squander followed up by coughing up the lead - so predictable
   281. Chip Posted: September 29, 2011 at 12:11 AM (#3942121)
Downhill all the way ever since that Ortiz check swing. Walking Chris Davis and then the Aviles throw that blew up what should have been a double play.
   282. Jay Seaver Posted: September 29, 2011 at 12:12 AM (#3942122)
Let's not panic too much - the Sox are only down by one and Ellsbury has not hit his homer yet.
   283. ray james Posted: September 29, 2011 at 12:12 AM (#3942124)
Good idea, Matt. Let's see- Bailey's on the rocks or Jamesons neat?
   284. Jose is an Absurd Sultan Posted: September 29, 2011 at 12:12 AM (#3942126)
The way this "race" has gone it would be fitting if a one game play in were set up by both teams losing tonight.
   285. Phil Coorey. Posted: September 29, 2011 at 12:12 AM (#3942127)
They're down one run against a shitful pitcher and shitful bullpen.

The same team that the Sox have won 2 of their last 7 against
   286. Captain Joe Bivens, Pointless and Wonderful Posted: September 29, 2011 at 12:13 AM (#3942133)
So the O's should regress to the mean tonight.
   287. Jim Wisinski Posted: September 29, 2011 at 12:13 AM (#3942134)
Cruz is warming in the bullpen so it doesn't look like it. I did just see some lefty getting loose in the bullpen but not throwing, couldn't tell who it was.
   288. Jose is an Absurd Sultan Posted: September 29, 2011 at 12:15 AM (#3942141)
Marco has been terrific this month.
   289. Jay Seaver Posted: September 29, 2011 at 12:15 AM (#3942142)
... SCUTARO!
   290. Textbook Editor Posted: September 29, 2011 at 12:15 AM (#3942143)
Lackey on 3 days' rest seems to be the call for tomorrow.

Interesting problem: Presumably Lavarnway has never caught Wakefield. Presumably this means Wake either (a) won't pitch or (b) Lavarnway won't start.
   291. ray james Posted: September 29, 2011 at 12:15 AM (#3942144)
Scutaro is one guy I have no complaints about. He's really played well down the stretch.
   292. Dan Posted: September 29, 2011 at 12:15 AM (#3942145)
Scutaro has had a great last couple months. Never thought he'd start hitting like this. He might even be back next year with how well he's gone down the stretch.
   293. Jay Seaver Posted: September 29, 2011 at 12:15 AM (#3942146)
See, someone else was supposed to go "MARCO!" before I did that.
   294. Textbook Editor Posted: September 29, 2011 at 12:15 AM (#3942149)
Don't worry, guys. Carl's got this.
   295. ellsbury my heart at wounded knee Posted: September 29, 2011 at 12:16 AM (#3942150)
I wonder if we'll see Scooter back on the Sox next year.
   296. Baldrick Posted: September 29, 2011 at 12:16 AM (#3942152)
Crawford will probably do something important here, right? I hear he's supposed to be good.
   297. Jim Wisinski Posted: September 29, 2011 at 12:16 AM (#3942153)
It's Torres so no to Moore. I think the plan is to just hope that things work out one way or the other tonight so that Moore is available tomorrow. I don't really disagree with it, I know they risk going home if they lose tonight but Price is working on making the hole bigger as we speak so that's a risk that may need to be taken.
   298. Phil Coorey. Posted: September 29, 2011 at 12:16 AM (#3942154)
Do something Crawford you ####### joke
   299. Chip Posted: September 29, 2011 at 12:16 AM (#3942155)
Crawford really wanted to swing at that pitch that almost went over Wieter's head.
   300. Jay Seaver Posted: September 29, 2011 at 12:16 AM (#3942156)
No "might" about it, I think; unless the Sox decide to go after Reyes, he seems like a much surer bet than "Aviles is good", "Iglesias can hit", or "Lowrie can stay on the field".
