Cubs season HR pace: 127
Darwin Barney NL WAR rank: t4
Starlin Castro NL dWAR rank: 2
Team defensive efficiency (NL rank): .696 (8)

By the way, Bryan LaHair is now 1 PA short of qualifying for the batting title. I know he's been slumping lately, but I still can't figure out that the point is of holding him out of the lineup so often, especially with Baker being pretty much worthless in his platoon role.

Late start today because of the rain. But at least it rained! That's good.

You know, so far Valbuena's been a considerable upgrade over what the Cubs were getting from 3B.

Clevenger's first big-league HR.

Joe Mather has put up a .392/.467 line at third in slightly more PA than Valbuena.

Then he's also a considerable upgrade over what they've been getting. Point is, their 3B production has been very poor.

Worth noting, though, that Valbuena looks cromulent defensively at 3B, and Mather looks like a terrible hatchet man.

Cubs win! That's 3 of 4 now. Baby steps.
