That girl doing the Canadian anthem was awful. Just awful.
   2. Dan Posted: June 26, 2012 at 07:14 PM (#4167196)
Off to a great start.
   3. Dan Posted: June 26, 2012 at 07:17 PM (#4167199)
Is that on Aviles or Middlebrooks?
   4. Dan Posted: June 26, 2012 at 07:21 PM (#4167201)
/facepalm
   5. Dan Posted: June 26, 2012 at 07:25 PM (#4167206)
It's a goddamned miracle that they kept that to a 1 run inning.
   6. Jose is an Absurd Sultan Posted: June 26, 2012 at 07:26 PM (#4167207)
Two days, two errors.
   7. Jose is an Absurd Sultan Posted: June 26, 2012 at 07:26 PM (#4167208)
Not watching yet but what happened on the fielders choice? Grounder in the hole and both went for it?
   8. Gch Posted: June 26, 2012 at 07:32 PM (#4167213)
From what I saw as I was cooking dinner, the throw was off line and Lawrie slid under / around the tag.
   9. Jose is an Absurd Sultan Posted: June 26, 2012 at 07:40 PM (#4167217)
I wonder if Davis will steal second. The waiting is killing me.
   10. Jose is an Absurd Sultan Posted: June 26, 2012 at 07:42 PM (#4167219)
Wow! Great move from Daisuke there!
   11. Jose is an Absurd Sultan Posted: June 26, 2012 at 07:51 PM (#4167225)
He strikes out six times for every walk but you haven't seen any holes other than his defense Don?
   12. Dan Posted: June 26, 2012 at 08:06 PM (#4167233)
Jesus NESN is retarded.

"We want you to know about the Red Sox's newest player! So instead of showing you his first at-bat we'll show you our bimbo 'reporter' lobbing softball questions at him!"
   13. Jose is an Absurd Sultan Posted: June 26, 2012 at 08:06 PM (#4167234)
Years ago I took a public speaking course. During the course they emphasized the importance of hand gestures to augment your speech. For the next two weeks my boss wouldn't talk to me because I was flailing my hands about so dramatically.

That's how I feel watching Jenny Dell's head. She bobs it around very stiffly as if she is counting dance steps, it's not natural at all. With her eyes she looks like someone who doesn't know to flirt trying to do so.

Thus endeth tonight's "Jenny Dell sucks" rant.
   14. Dan Posted: June 26, 2012 at 08:07 PM (#4167235)
I put the Cubs game on to see Rizzo. I think he's going to be really good this time around, unlike his cameo with the Padres last season. Especailly if the umpires give him a fairer strike zone.
   15. Dan Posted: June 26, 2012 at 08:17 PM (#4167241)
Here comes Rizzo!
   16. Dan Posted: June 26, 2012 at 08:18 PM (#4167243)
Infield single in his first AB. Definitely didn't have that.

Oh, they're calling it an error. That's dumb.
   17. Dan Posted: June 26, 2012 at 08:21 PM (#4167244)
Why the #### are the Sox being shut out by ####### Aaron Laffey?
   18. Jose is an Absurd Sultan Posted: June 26, 2012 at 08:29 PM (#4167249)
Daisuke is holding up his end of things.
   19. Jose is an Absurd Sultan Posted: June 26, 2012 at 08:32 PM (#4167256)
Not saying he did anything wrong, he had no play, but Davis picked up Gonzalez ball as casually as I've ever seen an outfielder pick up a ball.
   20. Jose is an Absurd Sultan Posted: June 26, 2012 at 08:33 PM (#4167257)
Yoooouk.
   21. Dan Posted: June 26, 2012 at 08:34 PM (#4167258)
They changed Rizzo's RoE back to an infield hit.
   22. Dan Posted: June 26, 2012 at 08:35 PM (#4167260)
Watching Rizzo excites me more for a 2ndary game to watch than Youkilis.

Arroyo has 6 perfect innings against the Brewers.
   23. Jose is an Absurd Sultan Posted: June 26, 2012 at 08:39 PM (#4167266)
Lawrie has a great arm. Every throw is right in Lind's chest it seems.
   24. Dan Posted: June 26, 2012 at 08:39 PM (#4167267)
They're going to leave the leadoff double at 2nd, aren't they?
   25. Jose is an Absurd Sultan Posted: June 26, 2012 at 08:41 PM (#4167269)
Yup.
   26. Dan Posted: June 26, 2012 at 08:43 PM (#4167270)
It's all down to Brent Lillibridge. Do some lefty mashing please.
   27. Jose is an Absurd Sultan Posted: June 26, 2012 at 08:43 PM (#4167273)
So glad Lillibridge was in there instead of Kalish or Nava.
   28. Dan Posted: June 26, 2012 at 08:44 PM (#4167274)
Sigh. Getting shut out for 5 innings by Laffey at Fenway is an embarrassment.
   29. Jose is an Absurd Sultan Posted: June 26, 2012 at 08:52 PM (#4167282)
Arroyo thru seven
   30. Jose is an Absurd Sultan Posted: June 26, 2012 at 08:57 PM (#4167289)
Great lay by Aviles. That saved a run.
   31. Dan Posted: June 26, 2012 at 09:01 PM (#4167290)
Oh, Arroyo had a HBP. I thought he had a perfecto going since I saw no H no BB.
   32. Jose is an Absurd Sultan Posted: June 26, 2012 at 09:04 PM (#4167294)
Would've liked the bunt from Ortiz there
   33. Jose is an Absurd Sultan Posted: June 26, 2012 at 09:05 PM (#4167295)
No no gone
   34. Jose is an Absurd Sultan Posted: June 26, 2012 at 09:06 PM (#4167297)
That's a great play by Mathis.
   35. Dan Posted: June 26, 2012 at 09:06 PM (#4167299)
Royster is a ####### awful third base coach.
   36. Jose is an Absurd Sultan Posted: June 26, 2012 at 09:07 PM (#4167301)
Yes he is but I like that send with one out. Make the Jays make a great play.
   37. Jose is an Absurd Sultan Posted: June 26, 2012 at 09:08 PM (#4167302)
If Ross is going to keep swinging at pitches at his ankles just keep throwing them there
   38. Biff, highly-regarded young guy Posted: June 26, 2012 at 09:08 PM (#4167304)
Arroyo was one of my favorite Sox and I was disappointed when he got traded away. I really hope he completes this thing.
   39. Phil Coorey. Posted: June 26, 2012 at 09:08 PM (#4167305)
We never strike gold with third base coaches it seems - #### this is a frustrating game today
   40. Biff, highly-regarded young guy Posted: June 26, 2012 at 09:09 PM (#4167306)
And now I feel stupid, because it was already over when I posted that.
   41. Phil Coorey. Posted: June 26, 2012 at 09:09 PM (#4167308)
Shocking send - just shocking
   42. Phil Coorey. Posted: June 26, 2012 at 09:14 PM (#4167312)

Yes he is but I like that send with one out. Make the Jays make a great play.

I must admit - I only saw the end of it....

Still - crappy game tonight - hopefully some late heroics from someone

Crap lineup - that's for sure - the sooner I see less of freaking Darnell the better
   43. Dan Posted: June 26, 2012 at 09:16 PM (#4167313)
It's somewhat worrying to realize just how accustomed I've already become to hearing "Middlebrooks with a bobble".

tell you what's worrying - Jed just hit #14

He has really struggled over there. I'll trust the reports this he's a very good defender but so far not seeing it.
   46. Jose is an Absurd Sultan Posted: June 26, 2012 at 09:24 PM (#4167320)
Little surprised he's not letting Laffey face Gonzalez
   47. Phil Coorey. Posted: June 26, 2012 at 09:26 PM (#4167322)
Just don't get the good consistent at bats in a game from AG anymore
   48. Jose is an Absurd Sultan Posted: June 26, 2012 at 09:29 PM (#4167325)
Man I love me some Saltalamacchia.
   49. Phil Coorey. Posted: June 26, 2012 at 09:30 PM (#4167326)
Salty - #### yeah!
   50. Dan Posted: June 26, 2012 at 09:30 PM (#4167327)
Huzzah!!!!!!!!!!!!!
   51. Dan Posted: June 26, 2012 at 09:34 PM (#4167329)
How does the defense line up after this? Kalish to CF, Ross to LF, Lillibridge to RF?
   52. Dan Posted: June 26, 2012 at 09:34 PM (#4167330)
Or I guess Nava might hit now for Lillibridge?

Kalish is starting to lock into off-speed stuff.
   53. Jose is an Absurd Sultan Posted: June 26, 2012 at 09:41 PM (#4167337)
I like this Pedroia fella too.
   54. Jose is an Absurd Sultan Posted: June 26, 2012 at 09:49 PM (#4167349)
Dominant inning from Padilla.
   55. Jay Seaver Posted: June 26, 2012 at 09:52 PM (#4167354)
Man, I wish I'd been home for this game. I mean, I coulda seen Abraham Lincoln kill vampires any time.
   56. Jay Seaver Posted: June 26, 2012 at 09:57 PM (#4167358)
Adrian and Dustin both seem to be showing some signs of life. I could be convinced to feel OK about this team if they keep it up.
   57. Dan Posted: June 26, 2012 at 09:57 PM (#4167359)
Very nice to see Gonzalez driving a pitch like that to left field with some authority.
   58. Jose is an Absurd Sultan Posted: June 26, 2012 at 09:58 PM (#4167360)
How was the Lincoln thing? I haven't decided if it looks really cool or really stupid.
   59. Jose is an Absurd Sultan Posted: June 26, 2012 at 10:03 PM (#4167364)
That was nice by Middlebrooks, just get the bat on the ball and let something happen.
   60. Jay Seaver Posted: June 26, 2012 at 10:06 PM (#4167367)
It's both. I like that it's played surprisingly straight and respectful, but its flaws are pretty apparent as well - it needs a stronger story, cast, and villain. Plus, the cinematography is weird, changing style every two minutes for no apparent reason and seeming like it was trying to shoot for both 2D and 3D rather than do one really well.

I mean, I dug it, but I can absolutely see it not working for someone.
   61. Dan Posted: June 26, 2012 at 10:06 PM (#4167368)
Damn. Kalish hit that hard, but to the wrong part of the park.
   62. Dan Posted: June 26, 2012 at 10:08 PM (#4167370)
Nice Cubs debut for Rizzo so far. 2-3 with an infield single and an RBI double.
   63. Jose is an Absurd Sultan Posted: June 26, 2012 at 10:11 PM (#4167371)
Not complaining but so far Aceves velocity is down. That may just be a "throw strikes with the lead" thing.
   64. Jose is an Absurd Sultan Posted: June 26, 2012 at 10:12 PM (#4167372)
Incidentally I've never seen a reliever sitting down then come into a game. Usually they keep walking around a bit but Ace is a weird dude.
   65. Jose is an Absurd Sultan Posted: June 26, 2012 at 10:13 PM (#4167374)
Nice win. Matsuzaka was very good.
   66. Dan Posted: June 26, 2012 at 10:17 PM (#4167376)
Daisuke was surprisingly good. Bobby pulled him at the right time too I think.
