1. Dan Posted: June 27, 2012 at 01:39 PM (#4167748)This is about what I expect. The injuries and the 2011 season are valid concerns but I think your expectations are too low. Players play to their level. I know that's a simplistic statement but there is a reason the statistical models work, they aren't perfect but if you expect the midpoint you are generally going to find guys meeting expectations.
Hey a double play grounder that E5 (E3) plays into 2 runs and no outs! Woot!
Not a bomb, but that works.
(That's a shot at DRS and it's awful method of handling shifts, and yes DRS/year has Lawrie at 60 runs above average)
I like Lawrie's defense, but not enough to call him the best player in baseball. Sean really needs to get that fixed, it's embarrassing.
That the question is "McDonald or Lillibridge" doesn't make the trade look good. I mean, would "Lillibridge is a bit of a step up from Darnell McDonald" really get you fired up?
Not really but I assumed the Sox got Lillibridge because they thought at least some of his power against LHP last year was real. If Valentine turns around and plays McDonald over him (despite McDonald being a worse defender in CF), that just seems like another sign that the FO and Valentine aren't on the same page.
And the Sox just lost Oscar Tejada thanks to the Youkilis deal. Probably not a big deal but I would have preferred keeping him around to see if he developed. I'm just ###### about this trade.
What the hell happened on the single by Gonzo? Did he fall asleep and not see Ross or did Ross take a huge turn then retreat?
I like rooting for and watching talented players the Sox develop, even if they don't end up playing in Boston.
Choosing Yonder Alonso over him was absolutely and utterly foolish. Alonso never even slugged .500 at any level in the minor leagues, while Rizzo, like you said, has legitimate power even in a park like Petco. Rizzo is a better defender at first base too.
No. I remember seeing it the other day and thinking it was odd. There is something kind about allowing the underprivileged the chance to glam it up for a night, high school can be a tough place and time in a kid's life. Still, when I saw it the other day I felt like it was the kind of charity the blonde girl on Two Broke Girls would have supported.
Is it me or have the Jays had 3-4 innings in this game that the leadoff man made an out on the first pitch?
