Willie Randolph announced this afternoon that Brian Bannister, Philip Humber, Ricky Ledee, Lastings Milledge, Mike Pelfrey and Kelly Stinnett would join the big-league team as the September call-ups, along with already arrived Heath Bell and Royce Ring.
No Fonzie. I'm guessing Rubin didn't include Williams because it was already assumed he is coming up.
They'll have to clear two 40-man roster spots for Ledee and Stinnett. Personally, I have no idea why they are bringing Ledee back up. Here's the choices:
Matt Lindstrom
Henry Owens
Steve Schmoll
Alay Soler
Ruben Gotay
Schmoll will definitely be one. As for the second, well, it will be interesting.
I don't get why they would bring back Ledee. He's obviously not needed for the playoff roster. Why not throw the fans a bone and bring Fonzie up, give him his own day.
Great. Now David Wright is the best 3rd baseman active in the series.
Humber has really had a great return for TJ surgery. In all likelihood, he'll be ready to help the Mets sometime next season.
104 AB, 24 H (.231 AVG), 4 2B, 2 HR, 3 BB, 40 K, .264 OBP/.327 SLG
Those are pretty sick. So are these numbers:
150 AB, 37 H (.247 AVG), 8 2B, 1 HR, 6 BB, 26 K, .272 OBP/.320 SLG
That, of course, is Chad Bradford vs. righties. I love our bullpen.
Macay McBride vs. lefties...I imagine we could play this game all afternoon however because of the sample sizes.
Runs scored:
Mets 727 (2nd in the NL)
Braves 716 (3rd in the NL)
OPS:
Mets .789 (3rd in the NL)
Braves .794 (1st in the NL)
Starters ERA
Mets 4.74 (10th in the NL)
Braves 4.72 (9th in the NL)
Bullpen ERA
Mets 3.06 (1st in the NL)
Braves 4.70 (15th in the NL)
-The Braves have 20 more losses than the Mets. No, the 'pen isn't responsible for all that ails them, but still... pretty damn staggering.
Maybe for a couple games like Ray or Sosa, but certainly not for more than a week.
Since June 1st of 2005, he has been pretty awful.
5.27 ERA, 49.1 IP, 67 hits, 34 runs (29 Earned), 41 strikeouts, 16 walks, and 4 homers. (Provided by Russlan)
As bad as the Braves pen has been Bell is no better than Paronto and Ray (who have been suprisingly useful for minor league fodder). Pitchers such as Ray, Bell, Paronto, and Yates are perfectly fine to chew up low-leverage innings while making 300k a year. The Braves problem has been lacking a Sanchez and Heilman (both of whom would have been closing at some point) to complement Wickman, who has been spectacular. While not having anyone who could close for the first three plus months didn't cost the Braves the division, it probably will result in them missing the playoffs.
Shoulda gone to Clown College.
Traschel should be the Cy. he's awesome.
yay DP!
OK, memorize these funny place names: Walla Walla. Keokuk. Cucamonga. Seattle.
Shawn Green batting fifth makes me puke in my mouth a little bit.
you forgot Kalamazoo!
There is nothing funny about the boyhood home of the Jeter. Show a little respect.
Yeah, what kind of option was that?
I have to admit that I was totally wrong to this point about Green. He looks as roasted as everyone said that he was.
####.
that's sloppy d.
This has been appalling.
1L? After a couple of years its nothing..
UGA Class of '07
yeah, that's what i've heard. first classes are tommorrow, i'm up at Minnesota.
Come on and take one of my upper division classes, pal. We'll see how much nothing it is! ;-)
Worked like a charm!
rlr: no, not really. i'm aiming just for pity and attention.
Incidentally Francoeur is hitting about as poorly as you can with a middling but not terrible average and a pretty good number of homers.
An honorable objective.
That's an improper way of stating it.
"Is Michael Tucker otentially no worse that Shawn Green?" is what you want to say. Michael Tucker is terrible.
Yes. Which is not a good thing.
But if I go around saying that, people will think I'm mentally handicapped!
must be a career high!
Chipper done for the year?
