1. Walks Clog Up the Bases Posted: April 10, 2012 at 08:20 PM (#4103397)I don't know, Torres is athletic and Travis Wood's star hadn't dimmed that much... I do attend to agree though - not so much because I desperately wanted to keep Marshall, but more because teams always seem a lot more willing to do stupid things to acquire a top notch reliever, especially a lefty who can quite capably get right-handers out, too, in July than they do in the offseason.
In short, trading Marshall was fine - I just would have waited until you could really raid someone rather than getting a slightly dimmed LHP prospect and a couple young, athletic OFs. Maybe in the end, Sappelt/Wood/Torres is still the best you get, but I have a hard time believing it's the best possible deal if they wait till July... heck... they could have just waited until Madson got hurt. I guess Marshall could always get hurt, too.
