That was the longest boo I've ever heard Turner Field give anyone.
   2. Sweatpants Posted: April 13, 2012 at 07:51 PM (#4106234)
And then they boo him when all he does is make a catch! It's kind of neat to see people there into the game.
   3. Sweatpants Posted: April 13, 2012 at 07:57 PM (#4106235)
Two outs, running on the pitch, yeah, but that ball took a perfect bounce back to Hart, and Bourn still scored easily.
   4. Sweatpants Posted: April 13, 2012 at 08:05 PM (#4106241)
Oh, come on. Gonzalez spent a year-and-a-half in Atlanta swinging at garbage. Why would you throw him a strike?
   5. Sweatpants Posted: April 13, 2012 at 09:12 PM (#4106267)
Awwww, yeah, hits and runs.
   6. Brian White Posted: April 13, 2012 at 09:15 PM (#4106271)
Isn't it about time to pull Wolf? He's given up like six bullets this inning.
   7. Sweatpants Posted: April 13, 2012 at 09:27 PM (#4106279)
Yeah, there wasn't even anything fluky about that rally. The Braves were actually bashing some guy around.
   8. Sweatpants Posted: April 13, 2012 at 09:36 PM (#4106285)
I guess having a starter go five-and-a-third is too much to ask.
   9. The Ted (now serving waffles) Posted: April 13, 2012 at 09:45 PM (#4106291)
I wonder if the Braves need to look into their conditioning program for the starters.
   10. The Ted (now serving waffles) Posted: April 13, 2012 at 09:48 PM (#4106293)
Medlan gets out of the innings. Here's hoping we don't see Hernandez nor Durbin.
   11. The Ted (now serving waffles) Posted: April 13, 2012 at 10:01 PM (#4106297)
Having the day off yesterday, I guess we'llsee O'Ventbrel.
   12. Sweatpants Posted: April 13, 2012 at 10:03 PM (#4106299)
Braun as the tying run vs. a lefty? Even if it IS O'Flaherty, I'm scared.
   13. The Ted (now serving waffles) Posted: April 13, 2012 at 10:06 PM (#4106301)
That bites.
   14. Sweatpants Posted: April 13, 2012 at 10:07 PM (#4106302)
WHEW.
   15. Sweatpants Posted: April 13, 2012 at 10:08 PM (#4106303)
oops
   16. Brian White Posted: April 13, 2012 at 10:08 PM (#4106304)
Nice DP!

Ah hell, but now we're tied.
   17. The Ted (now serving waffles) Posted: April 13, 2012 at 10:08 PM (#4106305)
Its always nice to see a double play when your pitcher is struggling.
   18. Sweatpants Posted: April 13, 2012 at 10:09 PM (#4106306)
O'Flaherty has now allowed half as many earned runs this season as he did last season.
   19. Brian White Posted: April 13, 2012 at 10:09 PM (#4106307)
That said, I'm glad we've got Prado in at third in Chipper's absence. Juan Francisco probably doesn't get within five feet of that ball.
   20. The Ted (now serving waffles) Posted: April 13, 2012 at 10:10 PM (#4106309)
I wrote that too soon. O'Flaherty won't be repeating that shiny ERA from last year.
   21. Sweatpants Posted: April 13, 2012 at 10:14 PM (#4106311)
Well, he was probably more likely to post an ERA like that than Chris Hammond.

I wonder if O'Flaherty will last all season as a second setup man. His success always seemed kind of hard to explain; with Venters, there's the good slider and the insane 94-MPH sinker, so you can see how he'd be effective even against lefties.
   22. Sweatpants Posted: April 13, 2012 at 10:15 PM (#4106313)
Boy, it is nice to see Jason Heyward hitting like a star again.
   23. Sweatpants Posted: April 13, 2012 at 10:15 PM (#4106314)
(yeah I know it's been less than a week, so sue me)
   24. The Ted (now serving waffles) Posted: April 13, 2012 at 10:17 PM (#4106316)
At this point, I think I'd rather see Medlan in the role of the second set-up man. But, if our starters can't go more than 5, we need a third set-up man...
   25. The Ted (now serving waffles) Posted: April 13, 2012 at 10:19 PM (#4106318)
Another sac bunt. Ugh! And yes, it is nice seeing Heyward hitting again.
   26. Sweatpants Posted: April 13, 2012 at 10:26 PM (#4106325)
Maybe they could do the righty-lefty thing that they did with Moylan and O'Flaherty in 2010 in the seventh. Of course, you're right that a staff that can't make it through the sixth makes that tougher to pull off. But, hey, that's why you gotta have three long men in the pen!
   27. Sweatpants Posted: April 13, 2012 at 10:28 PM (#4106326)
If Alex Gonzalez of all people ends up scoring the winning run, I'm gonna be cheesed.

And they gave him a hit??? Guys who OBP .270 don't deserve the benefit of the doubt.

Finally, some pitchers just cannot field, and Jonny Venters is one of them.
   28. Sweatpants Posted: April 13, 2012 at 10:30 PM (#4106328)
Wow, that AB was total destruction.
   29. Brian White Posted: April 13, 2012 at 10:30 PM (#4106329)
Yeah, if you don't have to take a single step to get to the ball, and you still can't field it, that should be an error.
   30. Sweatpants Posted: April 13, 2012 at 10:31 PM (#4106330)
Whew.
   31. Brian White Posted: April 13, 2012 at 10:32 PM (#4106333)
Heh, Sweatpants, you're like 30 seconds ahead of MLB.tv
   32. Sweatpants Posted: April 13, 2012 at 10:33 PM (#4106334)
Sorry! I'll wait a little before posting.
   33. Sweatpants Posted: April 13, 2012 at 10:34 PM (#4106335)
OH #### HOME RUN BY PRADO
   34. Sweatpants Posted: April 13, 2012 at 10:36 PM (#4106338)
(But seriously, I'll try not to spoil anything anymore.)
   35. Brian White Posted: April 13, 2012 at 10:37 PM (#4106341)
Heh.
   36. Sweatpants Posted: April 13, 2012 at 10:37 PM (#4106342)
Do you get to choose which broadcast of the game you watch?
   37. Brian White Posted: April 13, 2012 at 10:38 PM (#4106344)
That's okay, don't worry about it.
   38. Sweatpants Posted: April 13, 2012 at 10:41 PM (#4106348)
Just missed 5-5.
   39. Brian White Posted: April 13, 2012 at 10:41 PM (#4106350)
Yeah, I'm watching the Braves' broadcast.
   40. Brian White Posted: April 13, 2012 at 10:43 PM (#4106352)
Woo, Uggla! And the drawn-in infield!
   41. Sweatpants Posted: April 13, 2012 at 10:47 PM (#4106354)
What a beautiful inning, and only 1/3 over.

I was just wondering if Chip Caray grated on you enough for you to listen to the other team's announcers.
   42. Sweatpants Posted: April 13, 2012 at 10:49 PM (#4106355)
Wait - they bring in the submarining righty to face Heyward? Do they have no lefties?
   43. Brian White Posted: April 13, 2012 at 10:49 PM (#4106356)
Not yet. But I definitely have a moment of hesitation each night before choosing the Braves' broadcast.
   44. Brian White Posted: April 13, 2012 at 10:50 PM (#4106357)
Hmm, yeah. That did seem like a bad idea from the Brewers' perspective, though Heyward just grounded out.
   45. Sweatpants Posted: April 13, 2012 at 10:51 PM (#4106358)
And it's not like you need to worry about which reliever faces ugly chipmunk Jack Wilson.
   46. Sweatpants Posted: April 13, 2012 at 11:00 PM (#4106366)
Wilson hasn't looked like much of a defensive replacement so far.
   47. Brian White Posted: April 13, 2012 at 11:01 PM (#4106369)
Jack Wilson is playing awfully bad defense for a defensive replacement.
   48. Brian White Posted: April 13, 2012 at 11:01 PM (#4106371)
Dammit, coke to you. I blame the slowness of MLB.tv
   49. Sweatpants Posted: April 13, 2012 at 11:04 PM (#4106373)
0-4 start and all, the Braves are still tied with the Phillies.
