Sac fly for Soriano, that's as useful as he gets these days.

Soriano has to have surpassed his longest string of at-bats without an extra base hit to start a season, right?

And there's Castro's first CS of the year, on a pickoff. Bummer.

Cards have won 16 straight series.

Furcal kicks one, but then starts the DP with the next pitch. No damage.

Garza gets a hit! I believe that is the first hit by a Cubs pitcher this year.

Garza gets a hit! I believe that is the first hit by a Cubs pitcher this year.

Indeed it was. In addition, his earlier sacrifice was only the third by a Cubs pitcher.

Someone here the other day said that the Cubs were really scraping the bottom of the sports celebrity barrel by having Earl Bennett do the stretch. Apparently the Cubs marketing department took that as a dare, because tonight they have the UIC men's basketball coach.

This game is actually pretty intense. Cards aren't generating much offense, Cubs getting enough hits to keep it interesting.

Great start by Garcia. Would be nice this season to see him take the next step by replicating his home performance on the road.

Hell of an AB from LaHair.

Wow. Talk about some horrible Isringhausen flashbacks.
