Unreal LaHair.

apparently this team *can* hit home runs, if it really wants to :p

That double play the Cubs turned yesterday was one of the coolest defensive plays I've seen the team make since I started following them nearly 20 years ago.

LaHair: 7 homers
Rest of team: 7 homers

2 games in May, and they've got more than half their April HR total
   7. Walks Clog Up the Bases Posted: May 03, 2012 at 03:11 PM (#4122715)
Well this sucks. This feels like a Reds walk-off.

Not sure there's a reason for opposing batters to swing against Marmol at this point.

Poor Ryan. He doesn't deserve this crap.

It's time to give up on Marmol (and not just for today). It's just dumb luck at this point when the pitch lands in the strike zone.
   11. Walks Clog Up the Bases Posted: May 03, 2012 at 03:16 PM (#4122724)
I know you have to "have faith in your closer," but Marmol is one of those guys who just doesn't have it some days and it's always obvious right away. Cub managers just seem so reluctant to get him out of there when this is the case until it's too late.
   12. SouthSideRyan Posted: May 03, 2012 at 03:17 PM (#4122725)
####### hell.
   13. Walks Clog Up the Bases Posted: May 03, 2012 at 03:18 PM (#4122726)
And not that it matters if the Cubs have a competent closer, but leaving the bases loaded earlier really looms large now.
   14. Walks Clog Up the Bases Posted: May 03, 2012 at 03:21 PM (#4122734)
The error really hurts, but good god, they probably win the game if Marmol gets pulled much sooner.
   15. SouthSideRyan Posted: May 03, 2012 at 03:24 PM (#4122739)
I think Dolis just won the closer job.
   16. Walks Clog Up the Bases Posted: May 03, 2012 at 03:25 PM (#4122745)
The worst part is that the Reds are going to get credit for some great comeback, when all they needed to do was stand in the box with a bat on their shoulder.

So is it time to discuss how big a mistake it was when Hendry didn't trade him last trading deadline?
   18. Walks Clog Up the Bases Posted: May 03, 2012 at 03:30 PM (#4122751)
I dunno. He was pretty lousy last year, too. The time to trade him was after his 2010 campaign.

Well that didn't last long.

Predictable. This team sucks, but there is no reason Marmol needs to be put in a save situation again. He's finished as an effective pitcher.

Not really. There was no comeback, the Reds suck.
