The phenom will be batting third today, which is excellent.

I find this to be quite the intriguing pitching matchup today. Over the last couple of years Kennedy has quietly turned into a very solid pitcher.

No saber-savvy kudos to D'Backs' radio analyst Tom Candiotti, who said that 'wins' was the most important pitching statistic.

Hmmm, LaRoche is out with what they're calling a "strained oblique", which with this franchise can be just about anything.
   4. Mr Dashwood Posted: May 03, 2012 at 07:15 PM (#4122956)
They just mentioned Tony Conigliaro in connection with Harper batting third. Dear Lord, please let that be the only connection.
   5. Mr Dashwood Posted: May 03, 2012 at 07:16 PM (#4122958)
Harper put the hoo-doo on Kennedy there. The boy's powers are awesome.
   6. Mr Dashwood Posted: May 03, 2012 at 07:17 PM (#4122959)
Oh, but he is careless.
   7. Esoteric Posted: May 03, 2012 at 07:20 PM (#4122961)
Man, the replay looks like he touched the bag to me.
   8. Dan Posted: May 03, 2012 at 07:20 PM (#4122962)
I didn't think Harper was this fast. You heard about the power, the arm, the batting eye, etc. but I don't ever recall hearing that he was so speedy. I dunno why they put him immediately into RF/LF after drafting him when he's this fast.

Man, the replay looks like he touched the bag to me.

He missed it. The Nationals knew it too, which is why there was no argument.

How much longer is Espinosa going to be allowed to carry on like this? I guess the club is short of infielders.
   11. Dan Posted: May 03, 2012 at 07:35 PM (#4122974)
Maybe Espinosa goes down to AAA when Zimmerman is back with Lombardozzi taking over at second base?

Pollock is no baseball modern artist with those numbers of his.

Detwiler getting one fly ball to right field after another.
   14. Joey B. is counting the days to Trea Turner Posted: May 03, 2012 at 08:30 PM (#4123021)
This umpire absolutely sucks! Ross should have have like five strikeouts now.
   15. Joey B. is counting the days to Trea Turner Posted: May 03, 2012 at 08:40 PM (#4123031)
And the phenom comes through with another big hit!
   16. Dan Posted: May 03, 2012 at 08:44 PM (#4123036)
Nice base running and hustle to take third on that groundout, even if it didn't end up mattering.
   17. Joey B. is counting the days to Trea Turner Posted: May 03, 2012 at 08:53 PM (#4123044)
Detwiler is developing into one of the better bottom of the rotation guys in baseball before our very eyes. And it's not just a hot start this year; he ended up last season really strong as well.
   18. Dan Posted: May 03, 2012 at 08:53 PM (#4123046)
And to think that this spring people were claiming Detwiler was only getting a rotation spot because he was out of options and Lannan had remaining options.
   19. Dan Posted: May 03, 2012 at 08:54 PM (#4123047)
Demoting Lannan was one of the best moves the Nats have made.
   20. Joey B. is counting the days to Trea Turner Posted: May 03, 2012 at 09:01 PM (#4123053)
And Mattheus paints the inside part of the canvas on Pollock.
   21. Esoteric Posted: May 03, 2012 at 09:07 PM (#4123058)
I kind of feel sorry for John Lannan, though. He went from a bona fide Major League starter to a AAA guy with no trade value and no real prospects.

But yeah, Ross Detwiler was the right move.
   22. Dan Posted: May 03, 2012 at 09:14 PM (#4123059)
Clippard's pretty lucky both those balls were catchable. Not really fooling anyone today.
   23. Joey B. is counting the days to Trea Turner Posted: May 03, 2012 at 09:16 PM (#4123061)
I may have to Ignite my Natitude and go to a game or two this weekend, since it's #Our Park.
   24. Dan Posted: May 03, 2012 at 09:18 PM (#4123063)
It's hard to feel sorry for a guy drawing a $5M salary. I'm sure he'll land on his feet.
   25. Dan Posted: May 03, 2012 at 09:25 PM (#4123066)
Booo Lombardozzi grounds into the double play, robbing us of a Harper AB.
   26. Jack Sommers Posted: May 03, 2012 at 09:26 PM (#4123068)
So this Harper kid might be pretty good, eh ?

Amazing to me that a 19 year old can have this much presence.

Now how about a D Backs comeback and return the favor from last night.
   27. Mr Dashwood Posted: May 03, 2012 at 09:27 PM (#4123070)
Do you mind if I shut my eyes while Rodriguez is on the mound?
   28. Jack Sommers Posted: May 03, 2012 at 09:28 PM (#4123071)
99 mph.....guy throws HARD
   29. Jack Sommers Posted: May 03, 2012 at 09:30 PM (#4123073)
9 put outs for Jason Werth, 2 shy of the record for a Rightfielder in a 9 inning game.
   30. Jack Sommers Posted: May 03, 2012 at 09:33 PM (#4123074)
Of course last out is a FB to worth.

Congrats Nats fans. You guys deserve the have a good team to root for.

   31. Mr Dashwood Posted: May 03, 2012 at 09:34 PM (#4123075)
Two in a row, but the bats weren't so good tonight. Back to start-of-season form.
   32. Joey B. is counting the days to Trea Turner Posted: May 03, 2012 at 09:34 PM (#4123076)
I'll take six blasts of the sub horn, a Curly W, and another series victory to go with my half-smoke please. Thank you very much, and goodnight everybody.
