Cubs lineup:
Mather CF

Castro SS

Rizzo 1B

Soriano LF

Baker RF

Soto C

Barney 2B

Valbuena 3B

Samardzija P

Why start Baker over Johnson? Why is Baker even on this team after the callup of Rizzo?

Also, Wells designated for assignment and Dolis recalled from Iowa.

Because the lineup has gotten pretty lefthanded and Baker's one use is supposed to be hitting lefties. The question for me is why they've decided that Baker's only acceptable role is as a substitute for LaHair, when he seems like a natural platoon fit at 3B.

But isn't Mather suppose to be the utility guy who can play 3rd against lefties?

Seems like Mather is the UT who can play CF against lefties.

Then what the hell is Reed Johnson?

Good question.

Anyone else noticed that Samardzija only has 7 quality starts out of 14? I know he's been inconsistent lately, but I was still surprised to see that his QS% was so low.

Rizzo with a soft fly to center. He obviously can't hit lefties, time for a platoon.

Geez Starlin.

Castro should've taken second on Duda's throw or Torres's throw, and didn't, and then gets picked off 1st when he isn't even trying to steal but just caught napping. That's about as bad of an inning as you can have on the bases...

Warning track power!

It looked like that one had too much topspin to get out.

Got home in time to see Rizzo's double. Two games and I am aready a little more jazzed about the Cubs future.

This is not Jeff's day.

Len and Bob are trying to figure out what's wrong with Samardzija ... but what if he's just not very good? This is his sixth straight start where his ERA is higher than it was before the game started. Lately he's been the pitcher we all thought he'd be when the team announced that he was moving to the rotation.

Samardzija was bad, but Coleman's been even worse. 16-1, christ.

My goodness, does Theo Epstein have his work cut out for him.

I didn't realize they were playing an afternoon game. About time the Mets realized this was the Cubs they were playing.

Dan Murphy with 2 home runs... and of course I have him benched on my fantasy team.

Holy crap.

I had Wright, Davis, AND Murphy playing.

Also, I'm in 8th place. BUT NOT TODAY.
