Thanks for putting up the Chatter, fra paolo!

Today's Nationals outfield doesn't fill me with confidence in terms of fielding.

'Country Tyler' Moore's Baseball America Prospect book paragraph mentioned the name of Paul Goldschmidt. That wouldn't be so bad.

I think I'm beginning to understand what the Dead-Ball Era must have been like, watching this team.

What the deuce is Espinosa doing batting third? Has Davey J been reading the 'Inside the Book' blog or something?

For a longish-time AL pitcher, Gio Gonzalez makes good contact.

Between the haircut and the eye black, Harper is just begging to have a practical joke or two played on him.

Davey Johnson bunts more often than I would have expected.

I really don't like this line-up. Nady is too high up in the order.

Wow, the Nationals got a leadoff double and didn't score? Hang on a moment while I put on my shocked face.

Can you blame him for playing for 1 run with the lineup he's got to work with? I think he knows that he's got A. a good pitching staff and B. a weak lineup, and he's adjusted his strategy accordingly.

Is Harperman from the Planet Krypton? Or some kind of Nietzschean superman from the mind of the Great Baseball Philosopher?

I think in this particular case today he is the author of his own misfortune.

Just put Harper in CF every day. Ankiel is not such a great CFer that you need to be moving Harper around.

Now up to 25 consecutive scoreless innings for Gio. What an acquisition.

Slowes and Jaegler were interviewing Mark Lerner during the last inning. He said he thought the Nationals had the best scouting and player development system in the majors. I'm not sure I'd go along with that.

On the evidence so far, Gonzalez and Jackson could make the difference between this team being a team aiming to get over .500 and this team being a genuine Wild Card contender. Of course, there are a lot of games still to go.

Don't like the way this inning is developing. Avoiding walks has been a very important part of the Nationals' success so far.

The end of April is the cruellest part of the month. At least for this year.
