Hey, Endy and Fidel are starting.
   2. I Love LA (OFF) Posted: April 14, 2007 at 04:53 PM (#2334834)
Dammit. How's this a national blackout game? I hate FOX. Does anyone know what I can do to get around this?
   3. AJMcCringleberry Posted: April 14, 2007 at 04:57 PM (#2334838)
If FOX isn't going to show any games until 4 why can't I watch this one?
   4. Old Matt Posted: April 14, 2007 at 04:57 PM (#2334839)
It's on SNY and MLB.tv. Is it not on EI?
   5. AJMcCringleberry Posted: April 14, 2007 at 04:58 PM (#2334840)
MLB.tv won't let me watch it.

You can listen on gameday audio.
   6. I Love LA (OFF) Posted: April 14, 2007 at 04:58 PM (#2334841)
The game is on MLB.tv but only international users can see it.
   7. Jersey Joe Posted: April 14, 2007 at 05:02 PM (#2334843)
I live in Pennsylvania and MLB.TV is letting me watch this game. I do not know why, but I'll take it.
   8. Sam M. Posted: April 14, 2007 at 05:06 PM (#2334847)
Does Louisville count as "international"? I'm getting the game on MLB.tv, too.
   9. Old Matt Posted: April 14, 2007 at 05:06 PM (#2334848)
What are the odds Dookie keeps this hotness going?
   10. Jersey Joe Posted: April 14, 2007 at 05:07 PM (#2334849)
And I didn't even have to watch the Right Guard ad this time.
   11. I Love LA (OFF) Posted: April 14, 2007 at 05:11 PM (#2334850)
Awesome. I guess the trick is going to mets.com and following the link there. Thank God. I love watching El Duque pitch.
   12. Old Matt Posted: April 14, 2007 at 05:17 PM (#2334855)
That was quick.
   13. AJMcCringleberry Posted: April 14, 2007 at 05:17 PM (#2334856)
I guess the trick is going to mets.com and following the link there.

Thanks!
   14. Sam M. Posted: April 14, 2007 at 05:18 PM (#2334857)
Now, that's an inning to enjoy.
   15. I Love LA (OFF) Posted: April 14, 2007 at 05:19 PM (#2334858)
So no nickname for Green, yet, huh?
   16. AJMcCringleberry Posted: April 14, 2007 at 05:21 PM (#2334859)
So no nickname for Green, yet, huh?

Is 'Total ####### Loser' too long?
   17. I Love LA (OFF) Posted: April 14, 2007 at 05:22 PM (#2334860)
Right now would be a perfect momemnt for a Delgadiiit moment.
   18. Old Matt Posted: April 14, 2007 at 05:23 PM (#2334862)
I think he was safe.
   19. AJMcCringleberry Posted: April 14, 2007 at 05:24 PM (#2334863)
He never tagged Beltran.
   20. I Love LA (OFF) Posted: April 14, 2007 at 05:24 PM (#2334864)
WTF!? I'm not used to seeing Beltran make outs on the basepaths.
   21. Old Matt Posted: April 14, 2007 at 05:27 PM (#2334866)
That ball was smacked.
   22. Sam M. Posted: April 14, 2007 at 05:27 PM (#2334867)
That was an unfortunate turn of events. Ugh.
   23. AJMcCringleberry Posted: April 14, 2007 at 05:27 PM (#2334869)
Ugh.
   24. AJMcCringleberry Posted: April 14, 2007 at 05:29 PM (#2334871)
Endy rocks.
   25. Sam M. Posted: April 14, 2007 at 05:30 PM (#2334873)
They are smoking El Duque this inning. Not looking good at all.
   26. Russlan is not Russian Posted: April 14, 2007 at 05:30 PM (#2334875)
The Nationals are smoking the ball against him this inning.
   27. Old Matt Posted: April 14, 2007 at 05:32 PM (#2334877)
####. Not that this is a huge surprise, though.
   28. AJMcCringleberry Posted: April 14, 2007 at 05:34 PM (#2334879)
I don't like this inning.
   29. AJMcCringleberry Posted: April 14, 2007 at 05:40 PM (#2334881)
23 games.
   30. Sam M. Posted: April 14, 2007 at 05:45 PM (#2334884)
Now, that's a way to respond to a rally! Even Shawn Green's putridness couldn't stop it.
   31. Russlan is not Russian Posted: April 14, 2007 at 05:45 PM (#2334885)
I firmly believe if given the chance to be an everyday player, Castro would hit 15 homers and draw 40 walks in a season.
   32. Russlan is not Russian Posted: April 14, 2007 at 05:47 PM (#2334887)
Jose Reyes coming with men on base. Good things usually happen when this occurs.
   33. Joshemy Posted: April 14, 2007 at 05:48 PM (#2334889)
I was hoping this game was on the CW11. But that seems to be tomorrow.
   34. Russlan is not Russian Posted: April 14, 2007 at 05:49 PM (#2334891)
BTW, I have to say that I like Hill's stuff.
   35. Sam M. Posted: April 14, 2007 at 05:55 PM (#2334893)
That was not a good throw.
   36. Sam M. Posted: April 14, 2007 at 05:57 PM (#2334894)
Nice clutch grounder from Zimmerman! One more, El Duque.
   37. I Love LA (OFF) Posted: April 14, 2007 at 06:00 PM (#2334897)
Bunt hit coming up. I'm calling it.
   38. I Love LA (OFF) Posted: April 14, 2007 at 06:02 PM (#2334900)
Or a triple, whatever works!
   39. The Anthony Kennedy of BBTF (Scott) Posted: April 14, 2007 at 06:02 PM (#2334901)
ENDY MAGIC!
   40. Russlan is not Russian Posted: April 14, 2007 at 06:03 PM (#2334902)
Perfectly placed for the triple there. Let's see if the Mets can get him in.
   41. Bob Koo Posted: April 14, 2007 at 06:05 PM (#2334904)
Beltran's been striking out a lot in this early season. Esp. with runners on third and less than two out!
   42. Bob Koo Posted: April 14, 2007 at 06:06 PM (#2334905)
Wow, that is really sad.
   43. I Love LA (OFF) Posted: April 14, 2007 at 06:06 PM (#2334906)
Ugh. Runner in third with Beltran and Delgado coming up. How the #### do you not score there?
   44. The Anthony Kennedy of BBTF (Scott) Posted: April 14, 2007 at 06:07 PM (#2334907)
that was terrible.
   45. Russlan is not Russian Posted: April 14, 2007 at 06:07 PM (#2334909)
Wow, that's not what I was expecting at all. Man on third, Beltran, Delgado, and Wright coming up next and they don't score him? BRUTAL.
   46. Joshemy Posted: April 14, 2007 at 06:08 PM (#2334910)
No runs after a leadoff triple? I'm shocked!
   47. Russlan is not Russian Posted: April 14, 2007 at 06:19 PM (#2334914)
What the heck was Wright doing?
   48. I Love LA (OFF) Posted: April 14, 2007 at 06:20 PM (#2334915)
WTF!??! He let the run cross? What a stupid play.
   49. Banta Posted: April 14, 2007 at 06:20 PM (#2334916)
That sounded really stupid on the radio. Was it?
   50. Banta Posted: April 14, 2007 at 06:20 PM (#2334918)
I guess so.
   51. Sam M. Posted: April 14, 2007 at 06:21 PM (#2334919)
What on Earth was Wright thinking? Making that a tag play costs a run . . . it was a routine throw to first for an out, no run scoring. Ugh.
   52. Russlan is not Russian Posted: April 14, 2007 at 06:21 PM (#2334920)
I guess he didn't think he could get Lopez out on the play.
   53. Banta Posted: April 14, 2007 at 06:21 PM (#2334921)
Sounds like Wright might have forgotten how many outs there were.
   54. Bob Koo Posted: April 14, 2007 at 06:23 PM (#2334922)
This game has been terrible so far. Beltran with a slow break off 2nd in the 1st inning, and then two straight innings with a stranded runner on 3rd with less than 2 out. And then Wright's boneheaded play...
   55. I Love LA (OFF) Posted: April 14, 2007 at 06:24 PM (#2334923)
God. Comparing our ABs to the Nats' ABs is depressing.
   56. Russlan is not Russian Posted: April 14, 2007 at 06:29 PM (#2334924)
Duque just abused Zimmerman in that AB.
   57. Bob Koo Posted: April 14, 2007 at 06:32 PM (#2334925)
A big fly or two would be nice.
   58. Russlan is not Russian Posted: April 14, 2007 at 06:34 PM (#2334926)
This game has been terrible so far. Beltran with a slow break off 2nd in the 1st inning, and then two straight innings with a stranded runner on 3rd with less than 2 out. And then Wright's boneheaded play...

To be fair, the pitcher was up with one out the first time the Mets came up with a man on third.
   59. I Love LA (OFF) Posted: April 14, 2007 at 06:35 PM (#2334927)
Real scores! If we win today, we'll be in first (pending on what Barca and Sevilla do tomorrow).
   60. I Love LA (OFF) Posted: April 14, 2007 at 06:38 PM (#2334930)
Eight straight! Are you kidding me? This is Shawn Hill, right?
   61. Banta Posted: April 14, 2007 at 06:38 PM (#2334932)
Yup, Endy hasn't lost any of his magic.
   62. Bob Koo Posted: April 14, 2007 at 06:40 PM (#2334935)
Beltran's shown some vulnerability to that pitch on the inside corner.
   63. Banta Posted: April 14, 2007 at 06:41 PM (#2334936)
Beltran, it seems, has lost plenty of his magic.
   64. I Love LA (OFF) Posted: April 14, 2007 at 06:41 PM (#2334937)
Beltran really pisses me off sometimes. He takes the 2-0 fastball down the middle, then he swings at an unhittable pitch before taking strike three.
   65. Banta Posted: April 14, 2007 at 06:44 PM (#2334939)
Ugh... seriously, ugh.
   66. Banta Posted: April 14, 2007 at 06:47 PM (#2334940)
Well, this one is over.
   67. Russlan is not Russian Posted: April 14, 2007 at 06:47 PM (#2334941)
So much for my sweep prediction.
   68. Old Matt Posted: April 14, 2007 at 06:48 PM (#2334943)
####### ass #####.
   69. Banta Posted: April 14, 2007 at 06:49 PM (#2334944)
Just as well that El Duque's ejected, but that seems pretty crappy. I highly doubt he was trying to. He just lost it.
   70. Russlan is not Russian Posted: April 14, 2007 at 06:53 PM (#2334945)
You know, even if the Mets lose this game, they are lucky to have the record they do. They've only hit 6 home runs in 10+ games and are giving up more than 1 walk every two innings.
   71. Banta Posted: April 14, 2007 at 06:56 PM (#2334947)
You know, even if the Mets lose this game, they are lucky to have the record they do.

Yeah, but the only way of looking at that is they have the second best runs scored and the best runs allowed in the league. Seems sorta unlucky.
   72. Banta Posted: April 14, 2007 at 06:58 PM (#2334948)
Good work by Burgos, anyway.
   73. Russlan is not Russian Posted: April 14, 2007 at 07:00 PM (#2334949)
Yeah, but the only way of looking at that is they have the second best runs scored and the best runs allowed in the league. Seems sorta unlucky.

True, but what I'm saying is that the Mets are lucky to have allowed as few runs as they have, and to have scored as many as they considering their "peripherals". For example, after today's start, their starters have a 3.18 ERA with a 6.04 FIPS.
   74. Banta Posted: April 14, 2007 at 07:03 PM (#2334951)
I knew what you were saying, Russlan... in my mind, the two things sorta counteract each other.

I agree with you more about the pitching, but shouldn't you be looking at more than just homeruns when it comes to the offense? The Mets have been getting a lot of baserunners on.
   75. Old Matt Posted: April 14, 2007 at 07:04 PM (#2334954)
The comeback begins.
   76. Banta Posted: April 14, 2007 at 07:05 PM (#2334955)
The wheels seem to be coming off. Let's hop all over this!
   77. Bob Koo Posted: April 14, 2007 at 07:07 PM (#2334956)
What Banta said.. If you look at the offense's obp/slg (.358/.392) vs. what the pitching and defense is giving up (.315/.326), there's a big disparity. The Mets haven't been hitting for power much, but they're giving up even less. Of course, the power has to pick up since there's no way the pitching will stay this good.
   78. Banta Posted: April 14, 2007 at 07:07 PM (#2334957)
Well, so much for that.
   79. Russlan is not Russian Posted: April 14, 2007 at 07:08 PM (#2334959)
Man, that was a nasty strike three pitch to Valentin by Hill. If this Hill stays healthy, he is going to have himself a nice season.
   80. Russlan is not Russian Posted: April 14, 2007 at 07:10 PM (#2334963)
The Mets haven't been hitting for power much, but they're giving up even less

That's because the defense has been excellent and the Mets have been lucky. The opponent's BABIP is in the low .200's right now.
   81. Banta Posted: April 14, 2007 at 07:15 PM (#2334964)
Everyone please rise for David Newhan.
   82. Joshemy Posted: April 14, 2007 at 07:17 PM (#2334965)
Dear David Newhan,

Go away.

With much hate,
Jeremy
   83. Sam M. Posted: April 14, 2007 at 07:18 PM (#2334967)
Aha!!!! They corrected last night's mistake -- but who the hell knew about the other four??? At least we got Robinson and Aaron, and debunked Snider.
   84. I Love LA (OFF) Posted: April 14, 2007 at 07:18 PM (#2334968)
Why is Newhan on the team? What exactly does he do well?
   85. Banta Posted: April 14, 2007 at 07:20 PM (#2334969)
What's the full answer, Sam?

Jeez, that's a pretty terrible bungling. I don't know if I can trust them anymore.
   86. Russlan is not Russian Posted: April 14, 2007 at 07:23 PM (#2334972)
Even if Snelling doesn't pan out, that trade was a great one for the Nationals. Saved them a ton of money.
   87. Devin has a deep burning passion for fuzzy socks Posted: April 14, 2007 at 07:24 PM (#2334973)
Sam, I'm not watching, but if you check yesterday's thread, I found one (Ed Bailey) this morning. Who were the rest?
   88. Russlan is not Russian Posted: April 14, 2007 at 07:26 PM (#2334975)
Ken Boyer, Wes Covington, I wanna say Felix Mantilla? as three of them.
   89. Banta Posted: April 14, 2007 at 07:26 PM (#2334976)
Oh Flores.
   90. Banta Posted: April 14, 2007 at 07:27 PM (#2334977)
Showuswrong has now thrown 5.1 scoreless innings.
   91. I Love LA (OFF) Posted: April 14, 2007 at 07:29 PM (#2334978)
Dammmit! Higuain is such a waste.
   92. Banta Posted: April 14, 2007 at 07:32 PM (#2334981)
Alrighty, here we go!

LET'S GO DAVID!!
   93. Russlan is not Russian Posted: April 14, 2007 at 07:32 PM (#2334982)
It appears that the Mets are very happy to see that Hill is no longer in the game.
   94. Russlan is not Russian Posted: April 14, 2007 at 07:35 PM (#2334984)
Wow, that just missed being a home run.
   95. Sam M. Posted: April 14, 2007 at 07:35 PM (#2334985)
Oh, he JUST missed that. A month from now, a bit warmer, that goes out. Damn.
   96. Banta Posted: April 14, 2007 at 07:38 PM (#2334986)
Shawn Green... blah, blah, blah.

This one is over now.
   97. Joshemy Posted: April 14, 2007 at 07:38 PM (#2334987)
Shawn Green is killing me.
   98. Sam M. Posted: April 14, 2007 at 07:38 PM (#2334988)
I've got your nickname for Green. He's inexplicibly hung around way longer than any rational human being wants him here, right? He provides no entertainment value, right? There can be only one thing to call him:

Sanjaya™
   99. I Love LA (OFF) Posted: April 14, 2007 at 07:40 PM (#2334990)
This team is the anti-clutch.
   100. Russlan is not Russian Posted: April 14, 2007 at 07:40 PM (#2334991)
You knew when Wright just missed that homer, the Mets weren't going to win today.
