I'll be at this game tonight, wearing my Nats visor for the sake of being contrarian.

Maine needs a really good start to have a chance at the postseason rotation.
   3. AJMcCringleberry Posted: September 22, 2006 at 11:11 PM (#2185485)
El Duque is pitching? I thought it was Maine.
   4. Chris in Wicker Park Posted: September 22, 2006 at 11:22 PM (#2185491)
Green sucks.
   5. AJMcCringleberry Posted: September 22, 2006 at 11:22 PM (#2185492)
Green sucks.

Nice job Duque.
   7. Orange & Blue Velvet Posted: September 22, 2006 at 11:33 PM (#2185500)
Is there any chance of Green sucking sufficiently enough that Chavez starts? I sure do hope.
   8. I Love LA (OFF) Posted: September 22, 2006 at 11:35 PM (#2185503)
God, Floyd has been such a dissapointment this year.
   9. Banta Posted: September 23, 2006 at 12:00 AM (#2185521)
Is Maine done starting for the year? Is he in the bullpen now?
   10. Banta Posted: September 23, 2006 at 12:08 AM (#2185531)
It's amazing how much this lineup sucks without Beltran.
   11. Rob Base Posted: September 23, 2006 at 12:08 AM (#2185532)
Attention Washington broadcasters: A "factoid" is a falsehood that is repeated so often that it becomes commonly believed. "Factoid" is not synonymous with "trivia."

Thank you, and I hope this helps.

Can Wright even lift the ball anymore?
   13. Banta Posted: September 23, 2006 at 12:39 AM (#2185553)
Endy is so obviously our second best outfielder, it's sickening.
   14. Raskolnikov Posted: September 23, 2006 at 12:46 AM (#2185562)
Endy Chavez has won a starting OF position for the playoffs. There really should be little doubt.
   15. Rob Base Posted: September 23, 2006 at 12:46 AM (#2185563)
I am troubled by Wright too, Emad. I hope he's just tired. Or does he turn into Lyle Overbay? Pat Tabler?
   16. Rob Base Posted: September 23, 2006 at 12:52 AM (#2185568)
Nats announcers just decided to insult DElgado's defense, so they said he was mostly a DH in the American League. That is not even close to true. He had 1168 games as a 1B and 180 as a DH in Toronto.
   17. Banta Posted: September 23, 2006 at 12:59 AM (#2185575)
Wright's post All-Star break slugging percentage is down to .440.
   18. Orange & Blue Velvet Posted: September 23, 2006 at 01:03 AM (#2185577)
If Shawn Green is starting in the playoffs, I won't watch. Yes. It's gotten to THAT point.
   19. Raskolnikov Posted: September 23, 2006 at 01:05 AM (#2185578)
I'm sure there a psychological and self-induced pressure component to Wright's prolonged slump, but I would still diagnose this as simply a slump right now. It's not unusual for even the best players to perform markedly under their true level for a half to an entire season.

Oh come on.
   21. Banta Posted: September 23, 2006 at 01:10 AM (#2185580)
their true level

Well, at the end of this season, barring a crazy last ten games, Wright's gonna finish for the third year in a row with a slugging percentage right around .525. It's looking less likely that he's gonna be the kind of player who can put up a .600 slugging percentage consistently, with that probably being his peak, which means that he'll be a 950 OPS guy in his prime, maybe hitting 1000 OPS as his max.

That's still great, of course, but the first half of this season definitely makes that sort of production look as a bit of a disappointment.
   22. Rob Base Posted: September 23, 2006 at 01:10 AM (#2185581)
Stop talking #### about Mr. Met, Nats announcers. Your mascot is named after the ######### from Saved by the Bell.

Anyway, I think we can all agree that the Philly Phanatic is the worst mascot in the universe.
   23. Rob Base Posted: September 23, 2006 at 01:13 AM (#2185585)
This performance against Astacio is apalling.
   24. Spencer Benedict Posted: September 23, 2006 at 01:16 AM (#2185586)
Or does he turn into Lyle Overbay? Pat Tabler?

Oh, Rob.

A "factoid" is a falsehood that is repeated so often that it becomes commonly believed. "Factoid" is not synonymous with "trivia."

You're forgetting that they are in Washington, where factoids are often more real than reality.

Endy is so obviously our second best outfielder, it's sickening.

He would have been one of the top two OF's in 2000 as well.
   25. Banta Posted: September 23, 2006 at 01:17 AM (#2185587)
Well, Ricky Ledee was bound to do something for the Mets eventually.
   26. Banta Posted: September 23, 2006 at 01:23 AM (#2185593)
Well, here's your chance to shine, David.
   27. Banta Posted: September 23, 2006 at 01:26 AM (#2185595)
Well, it's official, David Wright sucks!
   28. Banta Posted: September 23, 2006 at 01:40 AM (#2185603)
That was a poor effort by the Nationals there.
   29. Spencer Benedict Posted: September 23, 2006 at 02:02 AM (#2185616)
uninspired
   30. Banta Posted: September 23, 2006 at 02:03 AM (#2185617)
Another fine game. I'm wondering if I should even bother watching any more regular season games.
