The Mets are catching a break in this series. They'll miss Sheets, who is on the DL, and Capuano who will pitch on Monday. Doesn't Lima have an awesome record against the Brewers?
   2. Russlan thinks deGrom is da bomb Posted: May 12, 2006 at 07:09 PM (#2016826)
Lima, in his career against the Brewers, is 10-0 with a 1.92 ERA. Of course, most of this was compliled when he was actually a good pitcher and the Brewers were the worst team in baseball.
   3. Eric in Madison Posted: May 12, 2006 at 07:12 PM (#2016831)
Going to the game tonight. Nice that the one game I can get to this series is Lima Time!
   4. The usual palaver and twaddle (Met Fan Charlie) Posted: May 12, 2006 at 07:31 PM (#2016861)
Lima hasn't face the Brewers since 2001.
   5. Devin has a deep burning passion for fuzzy socks Posted: May 12, 2006 at 07:36 PM (#2016868)
I got an e-mail from a friend saying that a Mets fan in his office was complaining that Willie should have stretched out the 4th innning more, with pitching changes or something, so that the rain would come before the game was official. (My buddy asked what could he do that was better than having Trax on the mound?) Is anybody else blaming Willie for this, or have I actually found something even BTF Mets fans won't hang on Willie's shoulders?

I don't blame Willie. Like any other rational Met fan, I blame God.

Lima's been a Brewers-killer since the day he was born. Lima has faced the Brewers since 2001. He pitched a dominant 1.1 innings against them in May of 2004. For his efforts he was rewarded with the win. Doesn't matter the year, the league, as a reliever or starter, an All-Star or on his way to setting the league record for worst ERA ... Lima beats the Brewers. It's just what he does.
   8. AJMcCringleberry Posted: May 12, 2006 at 11:02 PM (#2017072)
Stupid 8 PM games. I was all ready to watch the game now.
   9. Banta Posted: May 12, 2006 at 11:39 PM (#2017142)
I predict Lima throws a no-hitter tonight.

Hey, if I'm right, I made the prediction of the year. If I'm wrong, obviously I was being sarcastic.
   10. Old Matt Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:05 AM (#2017176)
Es Lima Tiempo!
   11. AJMcCringleberry Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:08 AM (#2017183)
Reyes really crushed that one.
   12. Joshemy Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:08 AM (#2017184)
Yay infield hit.
   13. Old Matt Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:08 AM (#2017186)
Hell yeah Jose.
   14. AJMcCringleberry Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:10 AM (#2017191)
Steal!
   15. Old Matt Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:10 AM (#2017192)
Reyes!
   16. Joshemy Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:10 AM (#2017194)
Reyes!
   17. Joshemy Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:11 AM (#2017197)
This is looking like a Reyes-created run is about to happen.
   18. Old Matt Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:11 AM (#2017200)
Brewers color guy just called Lo Duca the best number two hitter in the league.

Muting TV...now.
   19. PreservedFish Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:13 AM (#2017204)
Was it Bob Ueker?
   20. Joshemy Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:14 AM (#2017205)
Yay productive out!
   21. AJMcCringleberry Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:14 AM (#2017207)
Boom!
   22. Banta Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:14 AM (#2017208)
Jesus, Delgado is insane!
   23. Joshemy Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:14 AM (#2017210)
DELGADIT!!!
   24. Old Matt Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:15 AM (#2017211)
No, Ueker doesn't do TV. It was Bill Schroeder.

DELGADO!
   25. PreservedFish Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:15 AM (#2017212)
Oh man, Carlos Delgado is really a phenomenon. We haven't seen a hitter this good since ... Piazza 2001?
   26. Old Matt Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:16 AM (#2017216)
How many batters until Lima surrenders a two-run lead?
   27. Russlan thinks deGrom is da bomb Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:18 AM (#2017221)
I honestly think Delgado is going to break the Mets single season record for homers.
   28. Foghorn Leghorn Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:18 AM (#2017226)
Beltran is hitting a ton this season too.
   29. AJMcCringleberry Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:18 AM (#2017227)
How many batters until Lima surrenders a two-run lead?

2.
   30. Russlan thinks deGrom is da bomb Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:19 AM (#2017229)
Cole Hamels has a no-hitter going against Cincy through 4. 5 strikeouts and 5 walks. 74 pitches, 38 strikes.
   31. Old Matt Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:19 AM (#2017230)
Hamels with a no-hitter through four. Five walks, four strikeouts.
   32. Foghorn Leghorn Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:20 AM (#2017231)
But 10-0 with a 1.82 ERA?

I like our chances.
   33. NTNgod Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:20 AM (#2017233)
Weeks just popped up on a 87 MPH fastball? /shakes head
   34. Old Matt Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:20 AM (#2017234)
Color analyst now says he likes Lima's hair.

Why haven't I muted it yet?
   35. Joshemy Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:22 AM (#2017236)
Well, at least he got one guy out before a baserunner.
   36. NTNgod Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:22 AM (#2017238)
Color analyst now says he likes Lima's hair.

You learn to tune out Schroeder and just listen to Sutton.
   37. PreservedFish Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:22 AM (#2017239)
WFAN is also talking about Lima's hair
   38. Old Matt Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:23 AM (#2017241)
A 1-2-3 INNING HOLY ############# #### THE END IS HERE EVERYONE DUCK AND COVER!
   39. Joshemy Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:23 AM (#2017242)
DP!
   40. AJMcCringleberry Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:23 AM (#2017244)
DP!
   41. Russlan thinks deGrom is da bomb Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:23 AM (#2017245)
That was a slow double play. Jenkins wasn't running very hard, was he?
   42. Old Matt Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:24 AM (#2017246)
Of course, it really wasn't a 1-2-3 inning, but it's the closest Lima will ever get.
   43. Foghorn Leghorn Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:24 AM (#2017247)
I predict Hamels does not throw a no-hitter.
   44. Old Matt Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:25 AM (#2017252)
If Ned Yost had any Bobby Cox in him, he'd bench Jenkins after that effort.
   45. Russlan thinks deGrom is da bomb Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:25 AM (#2017255)
If Hamels does throw a no-no, he's going to need a new arm. He'll need 150+ pitches.
   46. Old Matt Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:26 AM (#2017259)
Good to see the worst average in the lineup get a four-pitch walk to lead off an inning.
   47. Foghorn Leghorn Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:26 AM (#2017261)
So when do I pick up Floyd oin Fantasy baseball?

Those line drives he hit last week? Is it time to think he's going to hit 320 here on out?
   48. PreservedFish Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:27 AM (#2017263)
Didn't AJ Burnett throw a no-no with 8 or 9 walks?
   49. Foghorn Leghorn Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:28 AM (#2017266)
Is Jenkins nursing a sore leg/ankle/hammy?
   50. NTNgod Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:28 AM (#2017268)
Hmm... Bush usually doesn't have a problem throwing strikes; his problem is usually throwing TOO many strikes.
   51. AJMcCringleberry Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:29 AM (#2017273)
Yes, 9 walks.
   52. Old Matt Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:30 AM (#2017276)
Wow. Endichiro! is back.
   53. Banta Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:31 AM (#2017277)
I love Endy.
   54. Joshemy Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:31 AM (#2017278)
And Endy keeps on going!
   55. AJMcCringleberry Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:31 AM (#2017279)
Endy!
   56. PreservedFish Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:31 AM (#2017281)
So when do I pick up Chavez oin Fantasy baseball?
   57. Russlan thinks deGrom is da bomb Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:32 AM (#2017282)
Seriously, I'm a little surprised to see Chavez in the lineup.
   58. Foghorn Leghorn Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:32 AM (#2017284)
9 walks. And it was today in history.
   59. Old Matt Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:32 AM (#2017285)
Not Lima Time at the plate.
   60. Foghorn Leghorn Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:33 AM (#2017286)
Come on, Jose!
   61. Old Matt Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:33 AM (#2017287)
Felipe Lopez breaks up Hamels' no-no with two outs in the fifth.
   62. Foghorn Leghorn Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:34 AM (#2017288)
This is one awful announcer.
   63. NTNgod Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:34 AM (#2017293)
JENKINS!
   64. Old Matt Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:34 AM (#2017294)
Geoff Jenkins ####### kills us.
   65. Joshemy Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:35 AM (#2017295)
A little too much uppercut in that swing.
   66. Foghorn Leghorn Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:35 AM (#2017297)
Dang it. Would have liked that to drop in.
   67. AJMcCringleberry Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:35 AM (#2017298)
Damn.
   68. Foghorn Leghorn Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:37 AM (#2017302)
Aren't IF popups supposed to be a pitcher skill?
   69. Old Matt Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:39 AM (#2017306)
Matsui has looked superb defensively. One error and only a few misplays. Can't ask for much more.
   70. Foghorn Leghorn Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:39 AM (#2017307)
"Another hit taken away"

Well, sure, if there were no fielders out there...
   71. Foghorn Leghorn Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:40 AM (#2017309)
Matsui has looked okay. He's making a good number of plays, but he's not been stellar.
   72. Old Matt Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:41 AM (#2017315)
0-2 and he walks him. #### face.
   73. Foghorn Leghorn Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:41 AM (#2017317)
Lima could stand to do better with an 0-2 count.
   74. NTNgod Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:41 AM (#2017321)
That was a routine grounder by Prince, but Fielder hit some absolute lasers in SD and came up empty.

Wednesday's game was probably the loudest O-fer you could imagine. He was destroying the ball.
   75. Banta Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:42 AM (#2017322)
Five outs without a hit? That's basically a no-hitter.
   76. Foghorn Leghorn Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:42 AM (#2017324)
Brady Clark chokes up like Bonds.
   77. Foghorn Leghorn Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:44 AM (#2017330)
How is Bush as a hitter?
   78. Joshemy Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:44 AM (#2017331)
K!
   79. Old Matt Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:44 AM (#2017332)
LIMA TIME!
   80. NTNgod Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:45 AM (#2017333)
Clark keeps chasing like that, and Gross is going to get some more PT... or some more Bill Hall CF starts.
   81. Foghorn Leghorn Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:45 AM (#2017336)
Smart pitch. threw a low one that wouldn't matter if he took it.
   82. Old Matt Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:46 AM (#2017340)
Okay, I'm going out. I mean, it is Friday.
   83. AJMcCringleberry Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:47 AM (#2017341)
2 scoreless innings! He's exceeded my expectations.
   84. Foghorn Leghorn Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:47 AM (#2017343)
It's not even 9 pm, Matt. I guess you are one of the dorks rather than one of the partiers.
   85. Foghorn Leghorn Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:48 AM (#2017346)
LoDuca lollygagged or he could have had a triple.
   86. Foghorn Leghorn Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:49 AM (#2017351)
A couple of GBs to first, and we got another run.
   87. CrosbyBird Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:49 AM (#2017352)
Cole Hamels has a no-hitter going against Cincy through 4. 5 strikeouts and 5 walks. 74 pitches, 38 strikes.

Yahoo blows. I wanted to add Hamels to my team for tonight's start and he wasn't available on the player list.
   88. PreservedFish Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:50 AM (#2017353)
"LoDuca" and "lollygag" are not compatible. I feel dirty just using them in the same sentence. Surely you've made a mistake.
   89. Foghorn Leghorn Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:51 AM (#2017357)
I love Beltran walking.
   90. AJMcCringleberry Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:51 AM (#2017358)
I like this Beltran better than last year Beltran.
   91. Russlan thinks deGrom is da bomb Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:52 AM (#2017361)
Beltran looks so much better at the plate.
   92. Joshemy Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:52 AM (#2017363)
Bases loaded for Wright.
   93. AJMcCringleberry Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:53 AM (#2017366)
Bags loaded for Wright.
   94. Foghorn Leghorn Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:54 AM (#2017371)
Great throw, Jenkins...
   95. Joshemy Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:54 AM (#2017373)
Yay productive out again!
   96. PreservedFish Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:55 AM (#2017376)
That was acceptable
   97. Russlan thinks deGrom is da bomb Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:55 AM (#2017377)
That's a dumb play by Jenkins. Does he really think he's going to prevent Beltran from advancing?
   98. AJMcCringleberry Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:55 AM (#2017379)
Come on Cliff!
   99. NTNgod Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:56 AM (#2017382)
That's better.
   100. CrosbyBird Posted: May 13, 2006 at 12:56 AM (#2017383)
Floyd, you have to swing at that if you ever want to break out of this slump.
