I guess everyone is at work.

It'll be interesting to see how Bannister does because he is facing the Nationals for the second time.
   2. Rob Base Posted: April 11, 2006 at 04:44 PM (#1955201)
Stupid job. I should be at the park.
   3. Free Rob Base Posted: April 11, 2006 at 04:55 PM (#1955219)
I am going to tomorrow night's game to see Pedro live for the first time. Very exciting. I expect some fireworks this series -- especially tomorrow night. I am sure Pedro's first pitch to Guillen will be high and tight. I almost guarantee it.
   4. covelli chris p Posted: April 11, 2006 at 05:09 PM (#1955247)
i really don't understand why the mets didn't try to trade for graffanino.
   5. Rob Base Posted: April 11, 2006 at 05:09 PM (#1955249)
I saw Pedro pitch at RFK last year. The crow was chanting "who's your daddy." I was like, umm, the Yankees?
   6. I Love LA (OFF) Posted: April 11, 2006 at 05:12 PM (#1955255)
Bad luck in the first. Reyes had a good AB and hit the ball hard. And Beltran couldn't have hit that one any harder.
   7. Free Rob Base Posted: April 11, 2006 at 05:13 PM (#1955258)
That Nats crowd is very strange. I guess its because they have not had baseball for so many years that they don't know how to act.
   8. Russlan thinks deGrom is da bomb Posted: April 11, 2006 at 05:15 PM (#1955264)
i really don't understand why the mets didn't try to trade for graffanino.

It's pretty simple. The Mets think they have enough offense and A-Hern will play enough defense to justify his spot in the lineup.
   9. Rob Base Posted: April 11, 2006 at 05:16 PM (#1955270)
That Nats crowd is very strange. I guess its because they have not had baseball for so many years that they don't know how to act.

True. And whoever is in charge of the PA/audio is an imbecile. Do we have to hear Day-O every single day? And why does every moron in the crowd have to respond to Belefonte? Is that fun?
   10. Anabolix Posted: April 11, 2006 at 05:19 PM (#1955282)
Did Beltran hit the ball hard in the 1st?
   11. Free Rob Base Posted: April 11, 2006 at 05:21 PM (#1955285)
Last year's Mets games that I went to at RFK were at least 25% Mets fans. Or at least it seemed that way. I hope it is the same again this year. I hope we can enojoy the same type of "home-field" advantage at RFK that the Yanks get at Camden, where it always seems there are more Yanmkee's fans than O's fans. They are certainly louder.
   12. Anabolix Posted: April 11, 2006 at 05:21 PM (#1955286)
Theres this funny little remixed version of "Jump on it" they keep playing at Braves games...annoyingly catchy.
   13. Anabolix Posted: April 11, 2006 at 05:22 PM (#1955290)
Beltran would probably get booed less if the crowd was mostly Nats fans.
   14. I Love LA (OFF) Posted: April 11, 2006 at 05:25 PM (#1955302)
Ah, Floyd swings at ball four.
   15. I Love LA (OFF) Posted: April 11, 2006 at 05:30 PM (#1955324)
I love Ipor taking charge on pop outs.
   16. Rob Base Posted: April 11, 2006 at 05:32 PM (#1955332)
Bannister continues to have control problems.
   17. I Love LA (OFF) Posted: April 11, 2006 at 05:36 PM (#1955344)
I can't believe Nick Johnson stole a base.
   18. Rob Base Posted: April 11, 2006 at 05:37 PM (#1955350)
Ball hit him.
   19. Russlan thinks deGrom is da bomb Posted: April 11, 2006 at 05:37 PM (#1955352)
Bannister continues to have control problems.

I don't know if it is control issues or if he's afraid that if he throws strikes he's going to get hit. He can't be falling 3-0 half the hitters he is facing.
   20. Rob Base Posted: April 11, 2006 at 05:41 PM (#1955368)
Goot cut, Brian!
   21. I Love LA (OFF) Posted: April 11, 2006 at 05:43 PM (#1955373)
Bannister: 1
Rest of the Met lineup: 0
   22. Old Matt Posted: April 11, 2006 at 05:47 PM (#1955384)
Can he throw some ####### strikes?
   23. Old Matt Posted: April 11, 2006 at 05:48 PM (#1955391)
Dick Cheney might have better control than Bannister.
   24. I Love LA (OFF) Posted: April 11, 2006 at 05:50 PM (#1955395)
Okay. Enough is enough. Lets get some runs.
   25. Old Matt Posted: April 11, 2006 at 05:51 PM (#1955396)
Ooo, Willie live from the dugout!
   26. Old Matt Posted: April 11, 2006 at 05:51 PM (#1955399)
I think Willie just called Gary "Keith."
   27. tribefan Posted: April 11, 2006 at 05:54 PM (#1955407)
Anyone think Bannister would be worth a pickup in a deep 5x5 league?
   28. I Love LA (OFF) Posted: April 11, 2006 at 05:54 PM (#1955408)
Beltran looks good today. Good for him. I was about to say he should give up switch-hitting.
   29. I Love LA (OFF) Posted: April 11, 2006 at 05:56 PM (#1955415)
You have to go to third there!
   30. Old Matt Posted: April 11, 2006 at 05:56 PM (#1955419)
DAVID WRIGHT IS GOD, ALL HAIL HIM!
   31. I Love LA (OFF) Posted: April 11, 2006 at 05:57 PM (#1955423)
He's so good.
   32. Rob Base Posted: April 11, 2006 at 05:57 PM (#1955425)
I think Wright might hit .500 this year.
   33. Russlan thinks deGrom is da bomb Posted: April 11, 2006 at 05:57 PM (#1955426)
Wright is certainly trying to post that 170 OPS+ for Sam.
   34. I Love LA (OFF) Posted: April 11, 2006 at 06:02 PM (#1955441)
Nice situational hitting by Floyd.
   35. Russlan thinks deGrom is da bomb Posted: April 11, 2006 at 06:04 PM (#1955449)
That was a break for the Mets. Floyd should have been rung up on a slider.
   36. I Love LA (OFF) Posted: April 11, 2006 at 06:07 PM (#1955468)
Boy, I thought that was gone. Vidro looks good.
   37. I Love LA (OFF) Posted: April 11, 2006 at 06:13 PM (#1955483)
How about some extra-cushion?
   38. I Love LA (OFF) Posted: April 11, 2006 at 06:15 PM (#1955490)
Hernandez with the butcher boy. Atta boy, Ipor.

Okay, Jose, don't give up this AB.
   39. Russlan thinks deGrom is da bomb Posted: April 11, 2006 at 06:16 PM (#1955493)
Our pitchers are really doing a great job at the plate so far.
   40. Old Matt Posted: April 11, 2006 at 06:16 PM (#1955494)
That's right Guillen, eat ####. Shitty throw.

Mets playing small ball now.
   41. Old Matt Posted: April 11, 2006 at 06:17 PM (#1955495)
Haha, Soriano sucks at life too.
   42. I Love LA (OFF) Posted: April 11, 2006 at 06:17 PM (#1955498)
That;s what I'm talking about! Paulie!
   43. Benji Posted: April 11, 2006 at 06:18 PM (#1955500)
I love this offense!
   44. Lance Broadway Howie Rose (Gian-Angelo Gallace) Posted: April 11, 2006 at 06:20 PM (#1955508)
Man, do they look great.
   45. I Love LA (OFF) Posted: April 11, 2006 at 06:20 PM (#1955509)
Beltran is walking a lot in front of Delgado. I'm guessing that's going to be a very good thing.
   46. billyshears Posted: April 11, 2006 at 06:21 PM (#1955513)
I'm starting to really enjoy this team.
   47. The usual palaver and twaddle (Met Fan Charlie) Posted: April 11, 2006 at 06:26 PM (#1955539)
OK, I haven't been in a game chatter since October, so...

What is the Anderson Hernandez - IPOR connection?
   48. Old Matt Posted: April 11, 2006 at 06:29 PM (#1955561)
This is so much fun.

I am having fun watching Mets baseball.

This rocks.
   49. Benji Posted: April 11, 2006 at 06:32 PM (#1955573)
I never bet on baseball, but I'll tout you 4 automatic wins. Bet the Yankees whenever Mays, Moyer, Zito or Colon starts. You're welcome.
   50. Free Rob Base Posted: April 11, 2006 at 06:32 PM (#1955574)
I know its not a politically correct stat -- but what's the over/under Wright's RBI this year? With the amount of guys that have been getting on base ahead of him, I don't think 120 is unreasonable.
   51. Lance Broadway Howie Rose (Gian-Angelo Gallace) Posted: April 11, 2006 at 06:35 PM (#1955589)
the more interesting question is: does IPOR rhyme with "Igor" or like "eye-sore"
   52. The usual palaver and twaddle (Met Fan Charlie) Posted: April 11, 2006 at 06:36 PM (#1955592)
What does it stand for?
   53. I Love LA (OFF) Posted: April 11, 2006 at 06:37 PM (#1955596)
Nice outing for Bannister. Do you let him go out there for the 7th or do you PH for him?
   54. I Love LA (OFF) Posted: April 11, 2006 at 06:38 PM (#1955598)
Oops. Its only the fifth. Nevermind.

IPOR stands for In-play, out(s) recorded.
   55. zack Posted: April 11, 2006 at 06:38 PM (#1955599)
Just realized the game was already on, IPOR got a hit left handed! Amazing.

Also, 5 hits in 11 innings against Bannister, sheesh.

I'll be at the game tomorrow as well.
   56. David Wrightwing obstructionist Posted: April 11, 2006 at 06:38 PM (#1955600)
I'm loving the squad so far, but I'm trying not to get over excited, we are after all beating up on the Nats and Marlins
   57. Russlan thinks deGrom is da bomb Posted: April 11, 2006 at 06:41 PM (#1955621)
I never bet on baseball, but I'll tout you 4 automatic wins. Bet the Yankees whenever Mays, Moyer, Zito or Colon starts. You're welcome.

The Royals have actually tied the game.
   58. The usual palaver and twaddle (Met Fan Charlie) Posted: April 11, 2006 at 06:41 PM (#1955622)

"And those are the teams you have to beat..."

   59. I Love LA (OFF) Posted: April 11, 2006 at 06:43 PM (#1955636)
the more interesting question is: does IPOR rhyme with "Igor" or like "eye-sore"

I think it rhymes with Igor. That's how I pronounce it, anyway.
   60. Russlan thinks deGrom is da bomb Posted: April 11, 2006 at 06:44 PM (#1955639)
<i>I'm loving the squad so far, but I'm trying not to get over excited, we are after all beating up on the Nats and Marlins <i>

True, but they've only played six games and have faced Hernandez, Patterson, and Willis.
   61. David Wrightwing obstructionist Posted: April 11, 2006 at 06:44 PM (#1955640)
Charlie,

I do agree, it is nice to see us not playing down to the other teams level like in years past, we are dominating them to this point...great to see
   62. Benji Posted: April 11, 2006 at 06:44 PM (#1955641)
I've been staying out of the chatters because of all the Hernandez bashing. I think he'll hit enough to justify playing and his defense gives us a great up-the-middle asset instead of the weakness Matsui or Keppinger would have provided.
   63. Dr. Vaux Posted: April 11, 2006 at 06:45 PM (#1955645)
Yeah, the Yankees pitching SUCKS. But they'll slug their way to the top, of course, especially since the pitching on Boston and Toronto is pretty okay...
   64. David Wrightwing obstructionist Posted: April 11, 2006 at 06:47 PM (#1955660)
I think we have to waive Valetin and keep Ahern up for a late inning defensive replacement, if we can play him everyday till Kaz gets back, I don't see why we can't keep him around to fill in at SS and 2B
   65. Benji Posted: April 11, 2006 at 06:47 PM (#1955662)
The Royals got 4 runs? My God the Yankees are gonna struggle with that pitching and that horrible, horrible defense. Not that it bothers me much.
   66. Russlan thinks deGrom is da bomb Posted: April 11, 2006 at 06:48 PM (#1955668)
I'd leave Bannister in for the seventh.
   67. The usual palaver and twaddle (Met Fan Charlie) Posted: April 11, 2006 at 06:49 PM (#1955673)
As Bannister lowers his ERA to a deuce & a quarter...

Great game!
   68. zack Posted: April 11, 2006 at 06:49 PM (#1955674)
I think I let Bannister bat here, but have someone warm by the time he goes back out.
   69. I Love LA (OFF) Posted: April 11, 2006 at 06:50 PM (#1955682)
I think they should have Hernandez and Matsui split time with IPOR finishing every game.
   70. Old Matt Posted: April 11, 2006 at 06:50 PM (#1955684)
I would too Russlan, and Willie will.
   71. Old Matt Posted: April 11, 2006 at 06:52 PM (#1955697)
Double for Bannister!
   72. The usual palaver and twaddle (Met Fan Charlie) Posted: April 11, 2006 at 06:52 PM (#1955701)
And so he shall...
   73. I Love LA (OFF) Posted: April 11, 2006 at 06:53 PM (#1955702)
Bannister!
   74. zack Posted: April 11, 2006 at 06:53 PM (#1955705)
Fortunately I'm a super-genius.
   75. David Wrightwing obstructionist Posted: April 11, 2006 at 06:53 PM (#1955710)
I think its time we drop Ahern to 9 with the way our pitchers have hit so far
   76. The usual palaver and twaddle (Met Fan Charlie) Posted: April 11, 2006 at 06:54 PM (#1955712)
Brian Bannister for President!
   77. Benji Posted: April 11, 2006 at 06:56 PM (#1955727)
Wish they'd get a SS that draws walks.
   78. I Love LA (OFF) Posted: April 11, 2006 at 06:56 PM (#1955728)
What a great AB for Jose.
   79. Old Matt Posted: April 11, 2006 at 06:56 PM (#1955730)
REYES!
   80. Russlan thinks deGrom is da bomb Posted: April 11, 2006 at 06:56 PM (#1955733)
This game is over. BTW, Met pitchers are hitting .500/.500/.667 this season.
   81. David Wrightwing obstructionist Posted: April 11, 2006 at 06:57 PM (#1955739)
Jose's breakout year is upon us!
   82. The usual palaver and twaddle (Met Fan Charlie) Posted: April 11, 2006 at 06:58 PM (#1955746)
R E Y E SSSSSSSSSSSSSS!
   83. I Love LA (OFF) Posted: April 11, 2006 at 06:58 PM (#1955751)
####### BELTRAN! UGH.
   84. Old Matt Posted: April 11, 2006 at 06:58 PM (#1955753)
An intentional walk to get to Wright!
   85. Free Rob Base Posted: April 11, 2006 at 06:59 PM (#1955761)
questionable strategy.
   86. zack Posted: April 11, 2006 at 06:59 PM (#1955764)
Ah, so this is what people are complaining about when they say "stuck posts".
   87. The usual palaver and twaddle (Met Fan Charlie) Posted: April 11, 2006 at 07:00 PM (#1955769)
They did WHAT, now?

Walked Delgado to pitch to Wright??????????

Is that wise, Mr. Robinson?
   88. The usual palaver and twaddle (Met Fan Charlie) Posted: April 11, 2006 at 07:01 PM (#1955774)
Seriously. What is up with this site today?
   89. Free Rob Base Posted: April 11, 2006 at 07:01 PM (#1955777)
Really wish the Mets coulda snuck that run across. Never know if you might need it.
   90. I Love LA (OFF) Posted: April 11, 2006 at 07:03 PM (#1955784)
That sucked.
   91. Old Matt Posted: April 11, 2006 at 07:03 PM (#1955786)
Yankees losing now...sweet.
   92. Old Matt Posted: April 11, 2006 at 07:05 PM (#1955792)
Well, I must say...I'm impressed by Bannister.
   93. manchestermets Posted: April 11, 2006 at 07:07 PM (#1955806)
What's the fewest Ks ever in a 9 inning game? There's only been one here. Has there ever been a game with none?
   94. zack Posted: April 11, 2006 at 07:08 PM (#1955815)
whoops.
   95. CrosbyBird Posted: April 11, 2006 at 07:09 PM (#1955816)
Throwing the same fat pitch to Soriano twice in a row is a mistake.
   96. The usual palaver and twaddle (Met Fan Charlie) Posted: April 11, 2006 at 07:09 PM (#1955818)
Damn!
   97. Free Rob Base Posted: April 11, 2006 at 07:10 PM (#1955826)
Looks like Bannister is going to have problems with the gopher ball.
   98. I Love LA (OFF) Posted: April 11, 2006 at 07:10 PM (#1955827)
Damn. That should be it for Bannister.
   99. The usual palaver and twaddle (Met Fan Charlie) Posted: April 11, 2006 at 07:11 PM (#1955831)
So the ol' ERA is back up to 2.77
   100. The usual palaver and twaddle (Met Fan Charlie) Posted: April 11, 2006 at 07:16 PM (#1955864)
So I'm thinking B. Bannister is the real goods, no?
