See, Lidle thought if the Phils swept the Mets, there'd be too much pressure on Hamels to keep the streak alive in his debut start. And he didn't want Floyd to be forced to lose the next game, because Floyd needs to gain confidence. So Lidle took it upon himself to end the streak for the sake of our young pitchers.

Floyd will now be permitted to dominate.

But Floyd sucks, right. Or am I thinking of someone else?
   3. villainx Posted: May 11, 2006 at 05:06 PM (#2014675)
I hope Cincy ain't going to make luncheon meat out of Hamels.
   4. Crispix Attacksel Rios Posted: May 11, 2006 at 05:24 PM (#2014705)
Floyd has sucked, that is true, but he does not have the heart of a sucker.
   5. Rob Base Posted: May 11, 2006 at 08:44 PM (#2015012)
Looks like a rainout tonight, huh?
   6. Free Rob Base Posted: May 11, 2006 at 08:48 PM (#2015019)
Pedro and Glavine and three days of . . .
   7. Harris Posted: May 11, 2006 at 08:50 PM (#2015023)
But Floyd sucks, right. Or am I thinking of someone else?
Cliff Floyd, I presume?
   8. Sam M. Posted: May 11, 2006 at 08:58 PM (#2015036)
Looks like a rainout tonight, huh?

Rainouts are good. The Mets, however, determined to keep Lima on his normal rest, will probably choose to skip Trachsel . . . . ;-)
   9. Joshemy Posted: May 11, 2006 at 09:45 PM (#2015098)
Yeah, the weather doesn't seem to be looking too good. Boo.

Yeah, the weather doesn't seem to be looking too good. Boo.

Whaddya mean, "Boo"??? Rainouts are GOOD. Rainouts immediately after Pedro and Glavine have just pitched are really good. They mean fewer outings for the Sub-Journeyman Brigade, more make-up dates to be staffed after we've brought up Soler, or Pelfrey, or Bannister is back. Remember our mantra: Rainouts are good.
   12. Шĥy Posted: May 11, 2006 at 10:42 PM (#2015185)
Cliff Floyd is batting second tonight. I guess that's better than Matsui hitting second but Floyd sucks right now.
   13. Шĥy Posted: May 11, 2006 at 10:46 PM (#2015193)
BTW, Mets back up to 84% chance to make the playoffs.
   14. Joshemy Posted: May 11, 2006 at 10:48 PM (#2015201)
Fair enough Sam. Guess I just like watching my team play everyday.
   15. Russlan thinks deGrom is da bomb Posted: May 11, 2006 at 11:15 PM (#2015274)
Did they say when this game is going to get started?
   16. AJMcCringleberry Posted: May 11, 2006 at 11:17 PM (#2015284)
Trax slowing down the game even when he's not on the mound.
   17. Zeba Zeba Eata Posted: May 11, 2006 at 11:19 PM (#2015291)
This is really stupid. Now we're going to end up wasting Trax.
   18. Russlan thinks deGrom is da bomb Posted: May 11, 2006 at 11:22 PM (#2015302)
What's up with Trachs? Are you guys afraid that the game won't make it through 5?
   19. AJMcCringleberry Posted: May 11, 2006 at 11:23 PM (#2015307)
Beltran with the steal. Good to see.
   20. AJMcCringleberry Posted: May 11, 2006 at 11:27 PM (#2015318)
So close.
   21. Zeba Zeba Eata Posted: May 11, 2006 at 11:27 PM (#2015319)
It's been raining hard (not as bad now), and it's supposed to rain harder.

Wright crushed that one.
   22. Chris Dial Posted: May 11, 2006 at 11:28 PM (#2015321)
But Nady will swing at and pop up hte first pitch.
   23. Zeba Zeba Eata Posted: May 11, 2006 at 11:28 PM (#2015322)
Walks, walks, walks
   24. Russlan thinks deGrom is da bomb Posted: May 11, 2006 at 11:28 PM (#2015325)
Gavin Floyd may be worse than Lima and Gonzalez.
   25. Harris Posted: May 11, 2006 at 11:28 PM (#2015327)
while floyd's command isn't great tonight, the strike zone looks hellasmall.
   26. Zeba Zeba Eata Posted: May 11, 2006 at 11:30 PM (#2015333)
Wow.
   27. AJMcCringleberry Posted: May 11, 2006 at 11:30 PM (#2015336)
#### Rowand.
   28. Chris Dial Posted: May 11, 2006 at 11:30 PM (#2015337)
Wow. Now you know why I have been saying what a great CF that guy is.
   29. Harris Posted: May 11, 2006 at 11:31 PM (#2015340)
Gavin Floyd owes Aaron Rowand a new car.
   30. Chris Dial Posted: May 11, 2006 at 11:31 PM (#2015342)
Bloodied face for his efforts.
   31. Russlan thinks deGrom is da bomb Posted: May 11, 2006 at 11:31 PM (#2015343)
Rowand robs Nady of 3 RBI.
   32. Zeba Zeba Eata Posted: May 11, 2006 at 11:31 PM (#2015344)
GREAT catch, but it doesn't look so good for his face.
   33. Harris Posted: May 11, 2006 at 11:32 PM (#2015346)
correction.....Gavin Floyd owes Aaron Rowand a new nose.
   34. Chris Dial Posted: May 11, 2006 at 11:32 PM (#2015348)
Dr. Ferdie Pacheco was running out there, he should be back for Round 2.
   35. Harris Posted: May 11, 2006 at 11:33 PM (#2015354)
If Rowand were a hockey player, he'd bat this inning.
   36. Chris Dial Posted: May 11, 2006 at 11:33 PM (#2015356)
No-hitter is still intact.
   37. Harris Posted: May 11, 2006 at 11:34 PM (#2015362)

No-hitter is still intact.

for traschel as well.
   38. Chris Dial Posted: May 11, 2006 at 11:35 PM (#2015364)
Looks like Rowand answered teh waffle-iron.
   39. Harris Posted: May 11, 2006 at 11:37 PM (#2015375)
I'll repeat the Floyd's control is crap tonight, but I'll be angry if the Phils come out free swinging since the K-zone appears to be small tonight.
   40. Chris Dial Posted: May 11, 2006 at 11:38 PM (#2015379)
Is there a better second baseman than Utley? I know there wasn't last year.
   41. AJMcCringleberry Posted: May 11, 2006 at 11:39 PM (#2015384)
Ah ####.
   42. Harris Posted: May 11, 2006 at 11:39 PM (#2015386)
Utley is following the common sense approach that Rollins couldn't.
   43. alkeiper Posted: May 11, 2006 at 11:39 PM (#2015387)
So much for Trachsel's no-no.
   44. Chris Dial Posted: May 11, 2006 at 11:39 PM (#2015391)
And he homers.

That makes 7022 consecutive regular season games for the Mets.
   45. Harris Posted: May 11, 2006 at 11:41 PM (#2015395)
Burrell will likely be (too) patient as well.
   46. Russlan thinks deGrom is da bomb Posted: May 11, 2006 at 11:41 PM (#2015396)
Only 26 outs away from the non-no. Oh so close.
   47. Chris Dial Posted: May 11, 2006 at 11:42 PM (#2015405)
We got a soda on this one, Harris?
   48. Harris Posted: May 11, 2006 at 11:42 PM (#2015409)
okie dokie - time to go get supper ready.
steaks, sweet potatoes, fried zucchini and onions.
   49. Chris Dial Posted: May 11, 2006 at 11:43 PM (#2015413)
No cabbage?
   50. Russlan thinks deGrom is da bomb Posted: May 11, 2006 at 11:44 PM (#2015415)
Dial, Petunia is obviously better than Utley.
   51. AJMcCringleberry Posted: May 11, 2006 at 11:46 PM (#2015427)
Castro rules.
   52. Russlan thinks deGrom is da bomb Posted: May 11, 2006 at 11:46 PM (#2015428)
Matsui has a 6-game hit streak. He's hitting .222 during that streak. Willis is getting killed by Atlanta. 3-0 in the third.
   53. Chris Dial Posted: May 11, 2006 at 11:46 PM (#2015429)
Nice 2B past Burrell by Castro.

Trx, help yourself out.
   54. Chris Dial Posted: May 11, 2006 at 11:48 PM (#2015440)
I didn't think either of those were strikes.
   55. AJMcCringleberry Posted: May 11, 2006 at 11:49 PM (#2015447)
I didn't either.
   56. Russlan thinks deGrom is da bomb Posted: May 11, 2006 at 11:54 PM (#2015468)
Phillies' broadcast just made the obvious offical, Rowand broke his nose.
   57. Eric in Madison Posted: May 11, 2006 at 11:56 PM (#2015478)
Nady just has no idea what he's doing out there.
   58. Joshemy Posted: May 11, 2006 at 11:56 PM (#2015480)
Um, what the hell was that half-jump Nady?
   59. Russlan thinks deGrom is da bomb Posted: May 11, 2006 at 11:56 PM (#2015483)
6-0 Atlanta. I wonder if throwing 236.2 innings last year is affecting Willis or if this is just some bad luck.
   60. AJMcCringleberry Posted: May 11, 2006 at 11:57 PM (#2015486)
Nady sucks.
   61. Russlan thinks deGrom is da bomb Posted: May 11, 2006 at 11:58 PM (#2015494)
7-0 Braves.
   62. Chris Dial Posted: May 11, 2006 at 11:58 PM (#2015495)
I'd walk Fasano here.
   63. AJMcCringleberry Posted: May 12, 2006 at 12:00 AM (#2015504)
Fasano looks like the big ugly Yankee in Major League.
   64. Chris Dial Posted: May 12, 2006 at 12:02 AM (#2015513)
Nady sucks.

See also, my preview. Well, no, my preview doesn't suck, but I say that Nady sucks in the preview.
   65. Joshemy Posted: May 12, 2006 at 12:03 AM (#2015516)
Nice job Trax.
   66. Chris Dial Posted: May 12, 2006 at 12:04 AM (#2015521)
Trx did a good job there.

Now, why would I walk Fasano there, but not the otehr day?

Anyone? Anyone?
   67. Russlan thinks deGrom is da bomb Posted: May 12, 2006 at 12:05 AM (#2015528)
Final line on Willis. 2.2 ip, 10 hits, 7 ER, 0 k, 2 BB.
   68. Rob Base Posted: May 12, 2006 at 12:05 AM (#2015529)
I just explained baseball standings to my fiance. "Games back" doesn't make sense to girls.
   69. Chris Dial Posted: May 12, 2006 at 12:05 AM (#2015530)
If you recall, I said something like "not in the second inning, but yes in the 6th."

Because in the 2nd you have time to come back - in the sixth not much - plus you'd have to face a bullpen.
   70. Rob Base Posted: May 12, 2006 at 12:06 AM (#2015534)
Final line on Willis. 2.2 ip, 10 hits, 7 ER, 0 k, 2 BB.

   71. Chris Dial Posted: May 12, 2006 at 12:06 AM (#2015536)
Bell has played some really strong defense this series.
   72. AJMcCringleberry Posted: May 12, 2006 at 12:07 AM (#2015537)
He was safe.
   73. Rob Base Posted: May 12, 2006 at 12:07 AM (#2015539)
Floyd in the 2-hole is interesting.
   74. Russlan thinks deGrom is da bomb Posted: May 12, 2006 at 12:08 AM (#2015540)
Floyd was safe. Too close to call, though.
   75. Chris Dial Posted: May 12, 2006 at 12:08 AM (#2015543)
This dialogue from Cohen with Darling and Hernandez is AWESOME
   76. Rob Base Posted: May 12, 2006 at 12:10 AM (#2015550)
Agree, Dial.
   77. Chris Dial Posted: May 12, 2006 at 12:10 AM (#2015552)
Great discussion on steroids.

Cohen is really roasting the players for complaining about it now when they didn't say anything 15 years ago.
   78. Joshemy Posted: May 12, 2006 at 12:13 AM (#2015565)
Nice cutoff by Floyd there.
   79. Rob Base Posted: May 12, 2006 at 12:13 AM (#2015566)
Flash that UZR, Cliff!
   80. AJMcCringleberry Posted: May 12, 2006 at 12:13 AM (#2015567)
Nice job by Floyd.
   81. Chris Dial Posted: May 12, 2006 at 12:15 AM (#2015576)
Nady didn't consider Rollins would be running.
   82. Rob Base Posted: May 12, 2006 at 12:15 AM (#2015579)
At this moment, I am so happy that Fran Healy and whichever other nincompoop (Kiner, Seaver, Robinson) are not in the booth.
   83. Russlan thinks deGrom is da bomb Posted: May 12, 2006 at 12:15 AM (#2015582)
What Floyd takes away, Nady gives back.
   84. Joshemy Posted: May 12, 2006 at 12:16 AM (#2015584)
Odd route from Nady, of course.
   85. AJMcCringleberry Posted: May 12, 2006 at 12:16 AM (#2015585)
Nady sucks.
   86. AJMcCringleberry Posted: May 12, 2006 at 12:17 AM (#2015588)
Hernandez just called Nady "adequate" in right. Is he drunk again?
   87. Rob Base Posted: May 12, 2006 at 12:17 AM (#2015589)
Get the batter out, Steve.
   88. Russlan thinks deGrom is da bomb Posted: May 12, 2006 at 12:18 AM (#2015591)
Nice play by Beltran. Is Nady really better than Diaz out there?
   89. Rob Base Posted: May 12, 2006 at 12:18 AM (#2015593)
Hernandez just called Nady "adequate" in right. Is he drunk again?

That was Darling. I think he was just being nice.
   90. Joshemy Posted: May 12, 2006 at 12:24 AM (#2015606)
Matsui!!
   91. Rob Base Posted: May 12, 2006 at 12:25 AM (#2015609)
Yeah, good job smashing your face on that bar, Aaron.
   92. Rob Base Posted: May 12, 2006 at 12:27 AM (#2015615)
Aaahrgh, Bell.
   93. Joshemy Posted: May 12, 2006 at 12:27 AM (#2015617)
Damn you David Bell.
   94. AJMcCringleberry Posted: May 12, 2006 at 12:27 AM (#2015618)
####!
   95. Russlan thinks deGrom is da bomb Posted: May 12, 2006 at 12:27 AM (#2015619)
The Philllies are playing excellent D today.
   96. Harris Posted: May 12, 2006 at 12:28 AM (#2015624)
ok - back from supper....pretty good, but one of the sweet potatoes had a big rotten spot on the inside...
regardless. the one comment that I was going to make, and I'm a phillies fan in NC, so I'm not real connected with the philly media and local fans, but Aaron Rowand's play is exactly why Abreu is poorly received by the fans. Abreu would have pulled off that ball reasonably early, satisfied to give up a 3-run double in the first inning. Rowand took the shot. I hate that he got hurt, but the Rocky-esque display of the ball after going down signifies the effort and achievement that Abreu is not willing to give in the outfield, despite the fact that he is capable.
   97. Joshemy Posted: May 12, 2006 at 12:33 AM (#2015642)
Victorino is kinda fast, huh?
   98. AJMcCringleberry Posted: May 12, 2006 at 12:33 AM (#2015644)
Victorino is fast, huh?
   99. Harris Posted: May 12, 2006 at 12:34 AM (#2015648)
Woo Shane Victorino. Abreu wouldn't have done that either ;)
   100. Russlan thinks deGrom is da bomb Posted: May 12, 2006 at 12:36 AM (#2015658)
Looks like it's raining much harder.
