First pitch has been pushed back to 7:30.
   2. Gamingboy Posted: April 09, 2012 at 02:28 PM (#4101276)
Southampton is abuzz about tomorrow's launch of the RMS Titanic...
   3. Jose is an Absurd Sultan Posted: April 09, 2012 at 06:29 PM (#4101688)
Not quite but this feels like the first real chatter of 2012. I look forward to Phil being ###### sideways, Dan and Darren to scream for roboumps and me to just generally freak out.
   4. Dan Posted: April 09, 2012 at 06:40 PM (#4101699)
Why was first pitch delayed?
   5. Dan Posted: April 09, 2012 at 06:42 PM (#4101701)
And are we actually going to chatter here?

Also, from what I have seen so far this year, umpires have been doing a bit better with the strike zone.
   6. Gamingboy Posted: April 09, 2012 at 06:42 PM (#4101702)
Why was first pitch delayed?

It's opening day for Toronto, so I'm guessing some sort of pre-game ceremony.
   7. Dan Posted: April 09, 2012 at 06:53 PM (#4101717)
You'd think they'd have accounted for that in the original start time. Whatever. I just want to see some baseball!
   8. Jose is an Absurd Sultan Posted: April 09, 2012 at 06:58 PM (#4101721)
This works for me, can catch up a bit on my DVR!
   9. Nolan Giesbrecht Posted: April 09, 2012 at 06:58 PM (#4101722)
Apparently the game sold out two hours after going on sale - nice to see this excitement for the Jays. Even here in Winnipeg, people have been asking me about the Jays. Very different.
   10. Jose is an Absurd Sultan Posted: April 09, 2012 at 07:04 PM (#4101731)
As a aseball fan I love the excitement around Toronto, as a Red Sox fan I wish they'd go 66-96.

According to PeteAbe no Morales or Padilla tonight.
   11. Nolan Giesbrecht Posted: April 09, 2012 at 07:07 PM (#4101734)
Heh, well I can't say that I don't cheer against the Sox.
   12. Benji Gil Gamesh VII - The Opt-Out Awakens Posted: April 09, 2012 at 07:09 PM (#4101738)
I'd like a win just so people stop freaking the #### out.
   13. Dale Sams Posted: April 09, 2012 at 07:12 PM (#4101743)
I want to see the Sox and Yanks miss the playoffs just to see five more playoff spots added.
   14. Dale Sams Posted: April 09, 2012 at 07:13 PM (#4101747)
What's funny is, had the Sox won yesterday...you'd have seen a ton of posts saying "See! They'll be fine! Everyone stfu."

...just like last September when they managed to win 1 out of 3!
   15. Nolan Giesbrecht Posted: April 09, 2012 at 07:22 PM (#4101764)
Not sure if the Sox feed has this, but apparently signs were handed to the fans in one section to form an American flag during the national anthem.
   16. Dale Sams Posted: April 09, 2012 at 07:23 PM (#4101765)
Did they arrange it so the flag was upside down?
   17. Gamingboy Posted: April 09, 2012 at 07:24 PM (#4101767)
I want to see the Blue Jays make the playoffs only because it'll mean that FOX and TBS will hire a mercenary army to try and annex Canada in order to make their viewers count in the Nielsen ratings.
   18. Benji Gil Gamesh VII - The Opt-Out Awakens Posted: April 09, 2012 at 07:28 PM (#4101778)
So am I supposed to have MLB.tv without paying for it at the moment?
   19. Jose is an Absurd Sultan Posted: April 09, 2012 at 07:29 PM (#4101779)
Never trust someone with two last names.
   20. Nolan Giesbrecht Posted: April 09, 2012 at 07:30 PM (#4101780)
Did they arrange it so the flag was upside down?

Well remembered.
   21. Fancy Pants Handle struck out swinging Posted: April 09, 2012 at 07:31 PM (#4101782)
A chatter? What is this strange and mysterious place?
   22. Nolan Giesbrecht Posted: April 09, 2012 at 07:32 PM (#4101784)
I think Alvarez is going to be a star - love the movement on his fastball.
   23. Dale Sams Posted: April 09, 2012 at 07:32 PM (#4101786)
Alvarez gets it up there in a hurry and has decent movement
   24. Dan Posted: April 09, 2012 at 07:33 PM (#4101787)
Alvarez is bringing the heat early.
   25. Chip Posted: April 09, 2012 at 07:33 PM (#4101789)
Love the 2-pitch AB from our lead off man facing a guy pretty much no one in this lineup has seen before.
   26. Nolan Giesbrecht Posted: April 09, 2012 at 07:34 PM (#4101796)
I don't remember his stats, but he got a ton of groundballs last year.
   27. Dan Posted: April 09, 2012 at 07:37 PM (#4101799)
Wieters just launched one off of Nova that might have gone into orbit.
   28. Hombre Brotani Posted: April 09, 2012 at 07:37 PM (#4101800)
Why isn't Gonzalez's nickname The Great Gonzo? It needs to be.
   29. Jose is an Absurd Sultan Posted: April 09, 2012 at 07:38 PM (#4101801)
He's got a nice live fastball. Good movement and if he can stay mid to hi 90s thats going to be tough.
   30. Dale Sams Posted: April 09, 2012 at 07:40 PM (#4101805)
grrrr
   31. Jose is an Absurd Sultan Posted: April 09, 2012 at 07:40 PM (#4101806)
Just want to say I love Doubront.
   32. Dale Sams Posted: April 09, 2012 at 07:41 PM (#4101807)
...and we're all counting on you.
   33. Phil Coorey. Posted: April 09, 2012 at 07:42 PM (#4101810)
Morning all
   34. Jose is an Absurd Sultan Posted: April 09, 2012 at 07:43 PM (#4101813)
Jenny Dell is a huge visual downgrade from Heidi Watney.
   35. The Piehole of David Wells Posted: April 09, 2012 at 07:43 PM (#4101815)
Jenny Dell is a huge visual downgrade from Heidi Watney.

Wrong.
   36. Jose is an Absurd Sultan Posted: April 09, 2012 at 07:44 PM (#4101816)
How's it going Phil?
   37. The Piehole of David Wells Posted: April 09, 2012 at 07:44 PM (#4101817)
Ells with a nice play.
   38. Nolan Giesbrecht Posted: April 09, 2012 at 07:44 PM (#4101818)
An out, but a terrific at-bat.
   39. Dale Sams Posted: April 09, 2012 at 07:44 PM (#4101819)
I'll take Amalie over all of them...is she still around?
   40. Chip Posted: April 09, 2012 at 07:44 PM (#4101820)
The 9-pitch lead off AB Ellsbury should have had.
   41. Jay Seaver Posted: April 09, 2012 at 07:45 PM (#4101822)
Heh... They're only having The Three Stooges "present" the opposing team's defense.

34 - Jenny's quite pretty, but her voice seems weird to me.
   42. Jose is an Absurd Sultan Posted: April 09, 2012 at 07:45 PM (#4101823)
Saw her in Ft. Myers, still looking' good.
   43. Dan Posted: April 09, 2012 at 07:46 PM (#4101826)
Jenny Dell is the most attractive sideline chick they've had yet.
   44. Phil Coorey. Posted: April 09, 2012 at 07:47 PM (#4101828)
How's it going Phil?

Not bad, had a very busy Easter and just trying to get in some baseball today while I have a few hours to myself - pretty much dreading watching the Sox at the moment, looking forward to when they get into some sort of a groove...
   45. The Piehole of David Wells Posted: April 09, 2012 at 07:47 PM (#4101829)
Well, Doubront is going to get to 100 pitches in 2 innings, I think.
   46. Nolan Giesbrecht Posted: April 09, 2012 at 07:47 PM (#4101830)
Nice walk...or bad, depending on the viewpoint.
   47. Chip Posted: April 09, 2012 at 07:48 PM (#4101831)
Doubront isn't going deep in this game pitching like this. So far no close out pitche when he gets to two strikes. Like a lefty Clay Buchholz.
   48. Dan Posted: April 09, 2012 at 07:48 PM (#4101833)
Bautista against Doubront kinda terrifies me.
   49. Jose is an Absurd Sultan Posted: April 09, 2012 at 07:48 PM (#4101835)
Thatll do pig, that'll do.
   50. Phil Coorey. Posted: April 09, 2012 at 07:48 PM (#4101837)
How you been by the way?

   51. Dan Posted: April 09, 2012 at 07:49 PM (#4101838)
Apparently I have a latent fear of double play balls? Never knew.
   52. Chip Posted: April 09, 2012 at 07:49 PM (#4101839)
Thst's the ticket - get Batista to swing _early_ in the count!
   53. Jose is an Absurd Sultan Posted: April 09, 2012 at 07:50 PM (#4101841)
I was doing fine until Thursday afternoon. Between the Sox and my little league team losses are everywhere!
   54. Phil Coorey. Posted: April 09, 2012 at 07:51 PM (#4101842)
Never trust someone with two last names.

I recognize that quote from Justified - Holy ####### mother of god I love that show!
   55. Chip Posted: April 09, 2012 at 07:51 PM (#4101843)
Never seen the guy before, so ... HACK!
   56. Chip Posted: April 09, 2012 at 07:53 PM (#4101845)
We love Oppo Papi.
   57. The Piehole of David Wells Posted: April 09, 2012 at 07:53 PM (#4101846)
If this is the new Papi, I like it.
   58. Nolan Giesbrecht Posted: April 09, 2012 at 07:54 PM (#4101848)
Wow
   59. Dan Posted: April 09, 2012 at 07:55 PM (#4101853)
Of course the one hard hit ball so far is a double play grounder.
   60. Dan Posted: April 09, 2012 at 07:57 PM (#4101857)
Girardi just ran his team into a strike 'em out, throw 'em out DP with 2 runners on. He's overmanaging trying to make things happen.

Hopefully Valentine can resist the same lure.
   61. Chip Posted: April 09, 2012 at 07:58 PM (#4101862)
Another 3-2 count.
   62. Jose is an Absurd Sultan Posted: April 09, 2012 at 07:59 PM (#4101864)
Yeah, this is not a path to success.
   63. Jose is an Absurd Sultan Posted: April 09, 2012 at 08:00 PM (#4101869)
Hmmmm may have gotten a bit of a gift there.
   64. Chip Posted: April 09, 2012 at 08:01 PM (#4101870)
Finally (barely) gets the swing and miss when way ahead in the count.
   65. Phil Coorey. Posted: April 09, 2012 at 08:03 PM (#4101873)
At least he works reasonably quickly...
   66. Jose is an Absurd Sultan Posted: April 09, 2012 at 08:05 PM (#4101878)
What's the point of such a huge lead if you have to lean back to the bag?
   67. Darren Posted: April 09, 2012 at 08:05 PM (#4101879)
Doubront is tough to watch. He needs to throw more strikes but those are getting hammered.

Hi, everybody.
   68. Jose is an Absurd Sultan Posted: April 09, 2012 at 08:06 PM (#4101881)
Gonzalez should have gotten there.
   69. Dan Posted: April 09, 2012 at 08:06 PM (#4101882)
Well I'm sure not catching that won't backfire at all...
   70. Jose is an Absurd Sultan Posted: April 09, 2012 at 08:06 PM (#4101883)
What's up Darren?
   71. Jose is an Absurd Sultan Posted: April 09, 2012 at 08:07 PM (#4101885)
This commercial is kinda cool but they need five or six of them, it's going to be old quick.
   72. Darren Posted: April 09, 2012 at 08:07 PM (#4101886)
I've had my criticisms of the Red Sox broadcasts in the past, but I have to say, a tour of the Blue Jays locker room? Mea culpa.
   73. Jose is an Absurd Sultan Posted: April 09, 2012 at 08:08 PM (#4101888)
Between NESN and MLBN what else do you need?
   74. Dan Posted: April 09, 2012 at 08:09 PM (#4101889)
I didn't get to see the locker room tour with MLB.tv :(((
   75. Jose is an Absurd Sultan Posted: April 09, 2012 at 08:10 PM (#4101891)
I missed it too!
   76. Darren Posted: April 09, 2012 at 08:10 PM (#4101894)
They haven't done it yet. Only hyped it. They hyped it. The tour of the locker room. Hyped.
   77. Benji Gil Gamesh VII - The Opt-Out Awakens Posted: April 09, 2012 at 08:12 PM (#4101896)
I don't get to see Jenny Dell with MLB.tv either.

No one answered my question: does MLB.tv have a free preview going or something?
   78. Darren Posted: April 09, 2012 at 08:12 PM (#4101897)
When things are going badly....
   79. Nolan Giesbrecht Posted: April 09, 2012 at 08:12 PM (#4101898)
Nice catch
   80. Jose is an Absurd Sultan Posted: April 09, 2012 at 08:13 PM (#4101899)
Benji - not that I've seen. Loos like Cubs Brewers is a freebie but that's the only game.
   81. Darren Posted: April 09, 2012 at 08:14 PM (#4101900)
Don't worry, they put off the tour. Find NESN if you possibly can.

And it was nice of them to throw up that great tweet by Mike Aviles.

Well, this team looks ready to lose.
   82. Nolan Giesbrecht Posted: April 09, 2012 at 08:14 PM (#4101902)
That was a wicked change - definitely his strikeout pitch.
   83. Random Transaction Generator Posted: April 09, 2012 at 08:17 PM (#4101906)
That was a nice catch by Rasmus, but (in my best old man voice) get a damn haircut!
   84. Darren Posted: April 09, 2012 at 08:17 PM (#4101907)
NESN's challenge: How bad can we make a broadcast before we completely ruin the game for baseball fans.
   85. Darren Posted: April 09, 2012 at 08:17 PM (#4101908)
4 pitch ab!
   86. Jose is an Absurd Sultan Posted: April 09, 2012 at 08:17 PM (#4101909)
Here it is!!!
   87. Darren Posted: April 09, 2012 at 08:18 PM (#4101914)
You know, that tour doesn't tell us much about the game, but it does give Don and Jerry a chance to do their killer schtick.
   88. Dan Posted: April 09, 2012 at 08:19 PM (#4101915)
They seriously went to the effort to put a ####### fruit platter out before filming the clubhouse?
   89. Jose is an Absurd Sultan Posted: April 09, 2012 at 08:19 PM (#4101916)
####### turf.
   90. Jose is an Absurd Sultan Posted: April 09, 2012 at 08:19 PM (#4101917)
I actually thought the tour was kinda neat.
   91. Nolan Giesbrecht Posted: April 09, 2012 at 08:19 PM (#4101918)
That was a nice catch by Rasmus, but (in my best old man voice) get a damn haircut!

I love it...pretty much my exact hair cut. Wow. Plus it gives him wings; nice to see him hit it hard and motor to third.
   92. Darren Posted: April 09, 2012 at 08:19 PM (#4101919)
0-2 and that. Yikes.
   93. Random Transaction Generator Posted: April 09, 2012 at 08:20 PM (#4101920)
I take back the haircut request, after watching his lovely locks flow while rounding 2nd base.
I'll assume it's some sort of Samson-esque requirement, so he can keep it.
   94. Dan Posted: April 09, 2012 at 08:21 PM (#4101921)
Yankees will get their first win tonight. Then again, they got to face Brian Matusz.
   95. Darren Posted: April 09, 2012 at 08:21 PM (#4101922)

I actually thought the tour was kinda neat.

Then you are dead to me.
   96. Benji Gil Gamesh VII - The Opt-Out Awakens Posted: April 09, 2012 at 08:23 PM (#4101927)
Benji - not that I've seen. Loos like Cubs Brewers is a freebie but that's the only game.
Hmmm. Wonder HTF I have it then.
   97. Gamingboy Posted: April 09, 2012 at 08:23 PM (#4101928)
Yankees will get their first win tonight. Then again, they got to face Brian Matusz.

You are doubting Matt Wieters, and, by extension, America.
   98. Jose is an Absurd Sultan Posted: April 09, 2012 at 08:23 PM (#4101929)
Oh I thought he had him there!
   99. Darren Posted: April 09, 2012 at 08:24 PM (#4101931)
out.
   100. Dan Posted: April 09, 2012 at 08:24 PM (#4101932)
This feels like September in that every break goes against the Sox in addition to unimpressive play.
