Anderson is on the team as a pinch hitter. I like him a lot better than the other options.
Is Doumit playing right?
In general, yes. It's more of a case that I've seen these guy going up through the minors. I sometimes say that I root for the Twins players and the Orioles' laundry. And, of course, anybody playing the Yankees.
FWIW, my son's neurosurgeon said one of the reasons why he always told parents it was better to operate sooner rather than later is that the older one gets, the less "elastic" the brain is in recovering from a major surgery, and so the recovery was much longer just to get back basic things like balance, coordination, etc. My son was mostly back to normal within 6 months of his surgery (aside from eye issues that are correctable with prism lenses/glasses), but he was 3 1/2 when he had his; I can't even imagine what it would be like coming back from major brain surgery at 19-20 y.o.
It's great that he's gotten this far--I really hope to see him in Fenway some day, but the fact he's OK at all is pretty close to a miracle in and of itself.
Our savior? (I might make this into a schtick, like Larry M and his "Can't wait to see him play for the Yankees.")
Big pitch on 3-2 to Morneau.
I don't like him so much as like that he's not Remy.
phredbird is taking me and Mrs Piehole to a Dodgers game on Saturday.
Hey, at least Ortiz is going to have a monster year. When he starts this well, it can only be good.
I like him insofar as he's NOT Remy.
I thought it was for "Pitches Like a Jerk When You Least Expect It."
Yaz was likable, too. That's about it.
What about Youks? Like a rhino doing a washing machine.... It's such a likable image....
And John Lackey is the active career leader in WTFs.
And he's ugly.
I was unaware that self-absorption was the problem here. How do you calculate that?
Yes, it's getting a tiny bit predictable (and thus old).
Good morning, Phil.
He uses the CFBSAS.
Here we go! \"#### me sideways" is the Sox Therapy equivalent of the rally cap.
Blind, irrational rage.
I smell urine...
Looks like Matsuzaka settled down.
Hey, a Yankee fan did me a solid last year. It was the day of the final game, and this guy comes walking up the street in his Yankees hat. I'm thinking he's going to razz me about the Sox. So I try to head him off at the pass and tell him how pathetic it is, how disgusted I am at the Sox, how much they suck, blah blah blah. He just shook his head at me and said, "Hey, it's all for fun." It was the greatest thing anyone has ever said to me about baseball. It's all for fun. I say it all the time now whenever I want to scream or yell at the TV (or computer as it may be).
Not true.
I bet it was Larry.
I'm not even watching the game - saw the score and thought I'd be my predictable self. It's OK - I'm exiting now - take care.
Also, I've tried to pay much more attention to the pitchers this year. How they're throwing, where the ball is ending up. Trying to identify pitches. It's looking for the small victories that makes the game fun. I liked baseball much more when I was a kid, looking at the back of bubblegum cards, at the numbers. When I'm screaming, it's just not fun. And there is no reason to watch when it's not fun. That's for me, at least.
Both the Sox and Twins looked good on that play. Ortiz hit it well, just right into the shift.
A: Duh, until he walks in a run, stupid.
