This Magic# will be 28 or 29 by the end of the day...it will be!

Hey it worked yesterday.

This series gets me a little excited because I have tickets to the Aug 29th game at Coors, 6th row between the plate and 3rd base dugout probably the best seats I've had there yet, can't wait!
   2. Old Matt Posted: August 18, 2006 at 10:52 PM (#2146693)
Tucker, Woody and Endy all in the lineup.

They're wearing 1986 throwbacks tomorrow night. Can't wait for that.
   3. David Wrightwing obstructionist Posted: August 18, 2006 at 10:56 PM (#2146699)
Awesome, I am also gonna get the game on my FOX station tonight, Chargers play an hour later, a quality sports entertainment evening.
   4. Banta Posted: August 18, 2006 at 11:00 PM (#2146701)
Can someone give me ANY reason for why Tucker plays so much?
   5. Old Matt Posted: August 18, 2006 at 11:03 PM (#2146704)
I don't know. Milledge should be playing these games. Hell, even ####### Ledee should get some time.
   6. Free Rob Base Posted: August 18, 2006 at 11:05 PM (#2146707)
I think Tucker (and maybe woodward who had been playing alot) have been getting a post-season audition.
   7. Banta Posted: August 18, 2006 at 11:08 PM (#2146708)
If Willie wanted to play Woodward too, why not give Wright a day off instead? He's dying out there!
   8. AJMcCringleberry Posted: August 18, 2006 at 11:11 PM (#2146711)
Milledge should be playing these games.

Especially if they're not sure if they want him on the postseason roster.
   9. Old Matt Posted: August 18, 2006 at 11:11 PM (#2146712)
Valentin is hurt. That's why Woody is playing.
   10. Old Matt Posted: August 18, 2006 at 11:12 PM (#2146714)
Tucker is the worst ############# player in the majors.

Jamey Carroll's pact with the devil continues...
   11. Banta Posted: August 18, 2006 at 11:12 PM (#2146716)
Oh yeah, I forgot about Valentin. I didn't watch the game yesterday, but I remember reading that.
   12. Bob Koo Posted: August 18, 2006 at 11:13 PM (#2146715)
Valentin's hurt, that's why Woodward's playing. Wright doesn't need a day off. He'll be fine.
   13. Old Matt Posted: August 18, 2006 at 11:13 PM (#2146717)
Clint Ninja Hurdle!
   14. Bob Koo Posted: August 18, 2006 at 11:14 PM (#2146719)
I really don't get why Milledge doesn't play everyday. The Mets know that no games from here on out are must-wins; that's why they rest Pedro liberally and anyone else who has a minor injury. That same line of thinking should lead to Milledege playing everyday- let the kid "earn his stripes," as Willie loves to put it.
   15. AJMcCringleberry Posted: August 18, 2006 at 11:14 PM (#2146720)
I love when the other team bunts in the first.
   16. Old Matt Posted: August 18, 2006 at 11:15 PM (#2146721)
I don't think Valentin will be back until middle of next week. Why they won't DL him, I'm not sure why.
   17. Bob Koo Posted: August 18, 2006 at 11:15 PM (#2146722)
Free outs? Sweet!
   18. AJMcCringleberry Posted: August 18, 2006 at 11:16 PM (#2146723)
Hmm, my comment on the crappiness of Tucker didn't go through. Is his mother screening my posts?
   19. Banta Posted: August 18, 2006 at 11:16 PM (#2146724)
That was nice, Trachsel.
   20. Old Matt Posted: August 18, 2006 at 11:17 PM (#2146726)
Matt Holliday: Product of Coors or actually good?
   21. Banta Posted: August 18, 2006 at 11:17 PM (#2146727)
Gotta love those first inning bunts!
   22. AJMcCringleberry Posted: August 18, 2006 at 11:17 PM (#2146728)
Nice inning, Trax.
   23. Old Matt Posted: August 18, 2006 at 11:18 PM (#2146730)
Cy is at it again!

Okay, so if the playoffs were to start today, who do the Mets use as starters?
   24. Banta Posted: August 18, 2006 at 11:20 PM (#2146731)
Pedro, Glavine, Maine, and... I have no idea. Trachsel and El Duque are just about a wash. I guess I go with Trachsel and put El Duque in the pen.
   25. AJMcCringleberry Posted: August 18, 2006 at 11:20 PM (#2146732)
Matt Holliday: Product of Coors or actually good?

Considering Coors isn't Coors! this year, I'll say actually good.
   26. Banta Posted: August 18, 2006 at 11:21 PM (#2146734)
Endy's batting behind Tucker and Woodward, what a slap in the face.
   27. Old Matt Posted: August 18, 2006 at 11:21 PM (#2146735)
Nice. Father Time is the backup middle infielder tonight. I almost want to see Woody get hurt just to have Franco play 2B.
   28. AJMcCringleberry Posted: August 18, 2006 at 11:22 PM (#2146736)
Franco is the backup second baseman tonight? Haha, I hope we get to see that.
   29. Old Matt Posted: August 18, 2006 at 11:22 PM (#2146739)
HE BRINGS THE FUNK!
   30. Old Matt Posted: August 18, 2006 at 11:23 PM (#2146741)
Apodaca! A key figure on the 1999 team.
   31. AJMcCringleberry Posted: August 18, 2006 at 11:24 PM (#2146742)
Didn't Kim used to be more of a submariner?
   32. Old Matt Posted: August 18, 2006 at 11:28 PM (#2146746)
In advance: Do you think someone will put the pre-game ceremony online? It appears as if the EI schedule says coverage starts at 7:00, which would be great. The game doesn't begin until 7:35.
   33. Bob Koo Posted: August 18, 2006 at 11:30 PM (#2146747)
Matt, Mets.com is showing the ceremony live.
   34. AJMcCringleberry Posted: August 18, 2006 at 11:40 PM (#2146754)
I hope it's on EI, the website says it is, but my TV says it isn't.
   35. Free Rob Base Posted: August 18, 2006 at 11:41 PM (#2146756)
Woodward was playing alot before the Valentin injury. The announcers were saying Willie was trying to get him hot. I thought they were testing him to see if they needed to try and upgrade the utility man for the post season.
   36. I Love LA (OFF) Posted: August 18, 2006 at 11:41 PM (#2146757)
I love Endy Chavez.

Too bad I have to work tonight :(
   37. Banta Posted: August 18, 2006 at 11:42 PM (#2146758)
Tucker's effect on the lineup is tangible.
   38. Old Matt Posted: August 18, 2006 at 11:46 PM (#2146761)
Haha, Nails is a character. I can't wait to see all those guys tomorrow.
   39. Orange & Blue Velvet Posted: August 18, 2006 at 11:47 PM (#2146763)
A Kill Bill reference; although Kim is Korean, NOT Japanese. Stupid Americans.
   40. Old Matt Posted: August 18, 2006 at 11:49 PM (#2146764)
CY YOUNG #######!
   41. Banta Posted: August 18, 2006 at 11:49 PM (#2146765)
It really looks like Trachsel finally recovered his command. He might just be a decent pitcher again.
   42. cynic Posted: August 18, 2006 at 11:49 PM (#2146766)
2 K's and a popup in a 1-2-3 inning? When did Steve Trachsel turn into Pedro Martinez?
   43. AJMcCringleberry Posted: August 18, 2006 at 11:50 PM (#2146768)
Trax is good now?
   44. Old Matt Posted: August 18, 2006 at 11:51 PM (#2146769)
By the way, that 1986 DVD set they sell on the Mets website is amazing. I highly recommend it. All seven games of the World Series in their entirety. Plus game six of the NLCS. It's really cool.
   45. I Love LA (OFF) Posted: August 18, 2006 at 11:51 PM (#2146771)
Unless Oliver Perez is pitching, I'm not sure I'll be watching live tomorrow.
   46. Old Matt Posted: August 18, 2006 at 11:52 PM (#2146772)
I won't be either, but I should be around for the first hour or so. I want to see the ceremonies.
   47. Old Matt Posted: August 18, 2006 at 11:56 PM (#2146776)
Come on David. Break out.
   48. AJMcCringleberry Posted: August 18, 2006 at 11:57 PM (#2146777)
Carloses!

Time to break the slump, David!
   49. Joshemy Posted: August 18, 2006 at 11:57 PM (#2146780)
D-Wright!!
   50. Banta Posted: August 18, 2006 at 11:58 PM (#2146781)
All right, Wright!
   51. AJMcCringleberry Posted: August 18, 2006 at 11:59 PM (#2146782)
Wright!
   52. cynic Posted: August 19, 2006 at 12:00 AM (#2146784)
Oof...Tucker-Woodward-Chavez-pitcher is a pretty brutal bottom of the order.
   53. I Love LA (OFF) Posted: August 19, 2006 at 12:01 AM (#2146785)
Any word on who's starting tomorrow?
   54. cynic Posted: August 19, 2006 at 12:05 AM (#2146787)
If current trends continue, I expect Jose Lima, Gerald Williams, Brian Daubach, and Mo Vaughn all to see action.
   55. AJMcCringleberry Posted: August 19, 2006 at 12:07 AM (#2146788)
####.
   56. I Love LA (OFF) Posted: August 19, 2006 at 12:09 AM (#2146792)
Ah yes. The two run homerun, Steve Trachsel's specialty.
   57. Banta Posted: August 19, 2006 at 12:13 AM (#2146797)
Just when I was starting to get comfortable with Trachsel...
   58. AJMcCringleberry Posted: August 19, 2006 at 12:16 AM (#2146802)
Good job by Delgado. He knew Lo Duca wasn't going to be able to make the play.
   59. Banta Posted: August 19, 2006 at 12:16 AM (#2146803)
It's good that Delgado cut off that ball, we all know that LoDuca wouldn't have caught it.
   60. Old Matt Posted: August 19, 2006 at 12:17 AM (#2146806)
ENDY MAGIC!

With that, I leave.
   61. Banta Posted: August 19, 2006 at 12:17 AM (#2146809)
Endy! Magic! There's your starting right fielder for the playoffs!
   62. cynic Posted: August 19, 2006 at 12:17 AM (#2146810)
*speechless*
   63. Joshemy Posted: August 19, 2006 at 12:18 AM (#2146811)
Endy ####### magic #######!
   64. I Love LA (OFF) Posted: August 19, 2006 at 12:18 AM (#2146814)
Endy magic!

We need a nickname for this guy.
   65. Old Matt Posted: August 19, 2006 at 12:19 AM (#2146815)
Well there's the new nickname for Endy.

Willie's Favorite Player™
   66. AJMcCringleberry Posted: August 19, 2006 at 12:19 AM (#2146816)
Endy Magic!
   67. Old Matt Posted: August 19, 2006 at 12:20 AM (#2146818)
Haha, OFF, that was weird.
   68. Banta Posted: August 19, 2006 at 12:20 AM (#2146820)
I owe you a Coke, AJM. That's incredible.
   69. CrosbyBird Posted: August 19, 2006 at 12:21 AM (#2146821)
Well there's the new nickname for Endy.

I was always partial to Endichiro! but it didn't really catch fire.
   70. I Love LA (OFF) Posted: August 19, 2006 at 12:21 AM (#2146823)
How funny is that we have a Cuban player named Castro and a Venezuelan player named Chavez?
   71. AJMcCringleberry Posted: August 19, 2006 at 12:22 AM (#2146826)
Nice play by Barmes.
   72. Banta Posted: August 19, 2006 at 12:31 AM (#2146834)
When Ralph said "Like someone I know well, he might not always be right, but he's never wrong", who do you think he was talking about? McCarver?
   73. AJMcCringleberry Posted: August 19, 2006 at 12:36 AM (#2146844)
First and second for Wright again.
   74. Joshemy Posted: August 19, 2006 at 12:38 AM (#2146851)
D-Wright again! Slump breaking!
   75. AJMcCringleberry Posted: August 19, 2006 at 12:38 AM (#2146852)
Wright again!
   76. Orange & Blue Velvet Posted: August 19, 2006 at 12:38 AM (#2146853)
THAT'S MY SUGAR PANTS!!!
   77. Banta Posted: August 19, 2006 at 12:38 AM (#2146854)
This game better get Wright cooking.
   78. Chris Dial Posted: August 19, 2006 at 12:39 AM (#2146856)
Okay! get it going DWright!
   79. Banta Posted: August 19, 2006 at 12:43 AM (#2146862)
I have to say, that was a real nice at bat by Tucker.
   80. AJMcCringleberry Posted: August 19, 2006 at 12:45 AM (#2146866)
Tucker bloop!
   81. manchestermets Posted: August 19, 2006 at 12:46 AM (#2146868)
This is based on fairly limited observation, but are the Mets quite conservative on sending runners from third? I seem to have seen a lot of runners not scoring from first on doubles this year, and I'd have thought Wright would have scored on the Tucker double to right.
   82. Banta Posted: August 19, 2006 at 12:50 AM (#2146877)
I think the Mets have been more conservative lately, earlier in the season they seemed to send runners home more. But maybe after Acta almost got Jose killed during the Red Sox series, he's decided to take it easy.
   83. Banta Posted: August 19, 2006 at 12:53 AM (#2146885)
Kiner isn't so senile that he can't do more games than he does right now. As a third guy in the booth, he's fine. And everytime when they send him off after two innings, it looks like he doesn't want to go. Really, he sounds a lot better now than a couple years ago, when he was just recovering from his stroke.
   84. CrosbyBird Posted: August 19, 2006 at 01:04 AM (#2146902)
I hate this Unified commercial.
   85. CrosbyBird Posted: August 19, 2006 at 01:10 AM (#2146913)
Beltran is a monster tonight.
   86. AJMcCringleberry Posted: August 19, 2006 at 01:10 AM (#2146917)
MVP!
   87. Bob Koo Posted: August 19, 2006 at 01:14 AM (#2146923)
It's a beautiful thing when our 3-4-5 hitters are clicking.
   88. AJMcCringleberry Posted: August 19, 2006 at 01:20 AM (#2146934)
Jose Mesa is still alive?
   89. Banta Posted: August 19, 2006 at 01:25 AM (#2146941)
Good outing from Trachsel tonight. A couple more of these and I'll be fairly confident in him.
   90. Chris Dial Posted: August 19, 2006 at 01:26 AM (#2146944)
Great 7 IP from Trax!
   91. AJMcCringleberry Posted: August 19, 2006 at 01:26 AM (#2146946)
Nice game from Trachsel.
   92. AJMcCringleberry Posted: August 19, 2006 at 01:53 AM (#2146987)
Wagner's bringing the heat.
   93. AJMcCringleberry Posted: August 19, 2006 at 01:55 AM (#2146991)
That's the game.
   94. Banta Posted: August 19, 2006 at 01:56 AM (#2146992)
So, Trachsel has a chance to lead the league in wins this season. Just think about that for a minute.
