So I guess the auditions begin today.
   2. Bob Koo Posted: August 20, 2006 at 04:37 PM (#2148595)
Milledge batting second today. I like that move.
   3. Rob Base Posted: August 20, 2006 at 04:45 PM (#2148598)
Oh god, was I drunk at the game yesterday.
   4. Old Matt Posted: August 20, 2006 at 05:12 PM (#2148614)
House Money lineup today.

Let's just say it would be nice to see a good Dookie start today to quell the uprising.
   5. Old Matt Posted: August 20, 2006 at 05:14 PM (#2148615)
####### A. This game isn't on TV.

Oh god, was I drunk at the game yesterday.

If that's a question, I'm going to say the answer is "yes."

That bottom of the sixth inning yesterday was one of the worst displays of baseball I have ever seen in person. The Rockies were horrible. It was weird, too, because they played quite crisply otherwise. Ryn Spilbourgh played a terrible game.
   7. rLr Is King Of The Romans And Above Grammar Posted: August 20, 2006 at 05:16 PM (#2148618)
It's on Channel 11, Matthew. That probably doesn't help you much.
   8. Old Matt Posted: August 20, 2006 at 05:19 PM (#2148622)
Yeah. Extra Innings isn't carrying the game.

Oh well, this is the last time I will be physically unable to watch the Mets this season. Leaving for SU tomorrow, where every game is televised.
   9. rLr Is King Of The Romans And Above Grammar Posted: August 20, 2006 at 05:20 PM (#2148623)
That's a lot of pitches thrown in an inning when the opposition didn't really threaten.
   10. Old Matt Posted: August 20, 2006 at 05:26 PM (#2148627)
Seven-pitch at-bat. Nothing to sneeze at.
   11. Bob Koo Posted: August 20, 2006 at 05:31 PM (#2148629)
These racing stripe unis rule. (I missed last night's game.)
   12. Old Matt Posted: August 20, 2006 at 05:33 PM (#2148632)
They do. I want them to wear them regularly next season.
   13. Rob Base Posted: August 20, 2006 at 05:33 PM (#2148634)
(I missed last night's game.)

So did I. And I was there.
   14. Bob Koo Posted: August 20, 2006 at 05:42 PM (#2148642)
DELGADIT!
   15. Joshemy Posted: August 20, 2006 at 05:42 PM (#2148643)
DELGADIT!
   16. RB in NYC (Now Semi-Retired from BBTF) Posted: August 20, 2006 at 05:50 PM (#2148650)
Seriously, why did they ever stop wearing the racing stripe uniforms?
   17. I Love LA (OFF) Posted: August 20, 2006 at 05:52 PM (#2148654)
How many dominant starts does Ollie need to become an October option?
   18. Bob Koo Posted: August 20, 2006 at 05:56 PM (#2148659)
How many dominant starts does Ollie need to become an October option?

In AAA or the majors? He'd have to be consistent for at least 3-4 starts in the majors, IMO.

But seriously, let's wait for the news on Glavine.
   19. Bob Koo Posted: August 20, 2006 at 05:58 PM (#2148662)
El Duque might be a better hitter than Difelice.
   20. Bob Koo Posted: August 20, 2006 at 06:00 PM (#2148663)
Well, that was a poor at-bat for Jose.
   21. AJMcCringleberry Posted: August 20, 2006 at 06:03 PM (#2148665)
Milledge batting second, cool.
   22. I Love LA (OFF) Posted: August 20, 2006 at 06:04 PM (#2148669)
Milledge is going to be a star.
   23. Joshemy Posted: August 20, 2006 at 06:06 PM (#2148674)
Lastings!

Great baserunning there too. Too bad Beltran couldn't get them in.
   24. Bob Koo Posted: August 20, 2006 at 06:08 PM (#2148677)
How is Matt Holliday having such a good year? Every time I see him hit, I am very unimpressed.
   25. Joshemy Posted: August 20, 2006 at 06:11 PM (#2148679)
El Duque looking good today.
   26. AJMcCringleberry Posted: August 20, 2006 at 06:16 PM (#2148681)
El Duque doing well today, he doesn't want Trax to get too far ahead in the battle for 4th starter.
   27. Bob Koo Posted: August 20, 2006 at 06:25 PM (#2148689)
Wright really has poor range down the line.
   28. AJMcCringleberry Posted: August 20, 2006 at 06:26 PM (#2148690)
Glavine has shoulder trouble? That could explain the recent suckiness. I guess Bannister gets the call next.
   29. Bob Koo Posted: August 20, 2006 at 06:27 PM (#2148691)
Wow, that was a terrifying at-bat by Barmes.
   30. Joshemy Posted: August 20, 2006 at 06:27 PM (#2148693)
That was a horrific swing by Barmes.
   31. Bob Koo Posted: August 20, 2006 at 06:30 PM (#2148695)
Jennings complained about that called strike three? Really?
   32. Bob Koo Posted: August 20, 2006 at 06:32 PM (#2148698)
Haha, that 0-2 curveball was more of a strike than the 0-1.
   33. Joshemy Posted: August 20, 2006 at 06:35 PM (#2148699)
3 Ks!

Yeah Duque!
   34. AJMcCringleberry Posted: August 20, 2006 at 06:35 PM (#2148700)
El Duque!
   35. Benji Posted: August 20, 2006 at 06:36 PM (#2148703)
I'm growing to love El Duque!
   36. Old Matt Posted: August 20, 2006 at 06:36 PM (#2148704)
DOOKIE!
   37. I Love LA (OFF) Posted: August 20, 2006 at 06:38 PM (#2148705)
When he's on, El Duque is fun to watch. Three straight Ks to strand the runners. Beautiful.
   38. AJMcCringleberry Posted: August 20, 2006 at 06:38 PM (#2148706)
Rockies showing off their great D once again.
   39. Joshemy Posted: August 20, 2006 at 06:39 PM (#2148708)
That was a pretty decent bunt by Duque.

And a terrible rushed throw by Torreabla. Who could have also let it roll foul.
   40. I Love LA (OFF) Posted: August 20, 2006 at 06:39 PM (#2148709)
I love El Duque.
   41. I Love LA (OFF) Posted: August 20, 2006 at 06:44 PM (#2148712)
EL DUQUE!!!!!
   42. Bob Koo Posted: August 20, 2006 at 06:45 PM (#2148713)
What the hell is Lastings doing there? Trying to get hit by a borderline strike? That's bush league.
   43. Joshemy Posted: August 20, 2006 at 06:45 PM (#2148715)
El Duque stolen base!

Damn. Was hoping Milledge could get him in there.
   44. AJMcCringleberry Posted: August 20, 2006 at 06:56 PM (#2148724)
K!
   45. AJMcCringleberry Posted: August 20, 2006 at 06:58 PM (#2148728)
MVP! MVP! MVP!
   46. Joshemy Posted: August 20, 2006 at 06:58 PM (#2148729)
CARLOS BELTRAN!
   47. Bob Koo Posted: August 20, 2006 at 07:00 PM (#2148732)
Beltran! 7 more to catch Hundley!
   48. Bob Koo Posted: August 20, 2006 at 07:10 PM (#2148740)
Bradford was an excellent signing by Omar. His price tag should go up in the offseason, but hopefully the Mets can hang on to him for a couple more seasons.
   49. Bob Koo Posted: August 20, 2006 at 07:11 PM (#2148743)
Just after I write that, Bradford issues his first walk after the all-star break.
   50. Bob Koo Posted: August 20, 2006 at 07:12 PM (#2148746)
Yup, Bradford's money.
   51. Joshemy Posted: August 20, 2006 at 07:13 PM (#2148747)
DP!

Yeah ChadBrad!
   52. Orange & Blue Velvet Posted: August 20, 2006 at 07:13 PM (#2148749)
Just after I write that, Bradford issues his first walk after the all-star break.
Fortunately, Bradford's GB tendencies are among the best in baseball.
   53. Bob Koo Posted: August 20, 2006 at 07:16 PM (#2148752)
1 HR allowed in 46 innings of work, along with just 6 unintentional walks. That's just awesome.
   54. Bob Koo Posted: August 20, 2006 at 07:25 PM (#2148760)
Nice job by Reyes on that pop-up. I thought only Jeter could make that kind of play.
   55. Joshemy Posted: August 20, 2006 at 07:29 PM (#2148764)
Yeah Aaron! Two Ks!
   56. AJMcCringleberry Posted: August 20, 2006 at 07:31 PM (#2148765)
Heilman!
   57. Bob Koo Posted: August 20, 2006 at 07:37 PM (#2148776)
Enter Sandman for the fourth straight day, eh?
   58. AJMcCringleberry Posted: August 20, 2006 at 07:44 PM (#2148782)
Ballgame!
   59. Joshemy Posted: August 20, 2006 at 07:44 PM (#2148783)
Wags!

Sweep! Woo!
   60. Bob Koo Posted: August 20, 2006 at 07:45 PM (#2148785)
Sweep!
   61. Sam M. Posted: August 20, 2006 at 08:58 PM (#2148862)
It's funny. The Mets' starting pitching seems to go in cycles, where either the front end or the back end of the rotation is encouraging -- but not both at the same time. When Pedro came back from the DL and was dealing, and then Glavine seemed to be recovering his good location, it was thumbs up there for a moment -- but then Trachsel seemed to be not so great (although never awful) and El Duque had a blow-up start. Now, Trachsel has been showing well and El Duque has this magnificent outing, and all of a sudden both Glavine and Pedro are back to being injury question marks. Meanwhile, Maine seems to be the only real constant.

Somehow, we have to hope that it all comes up right (and healthy) at the right time, and that Minaya, Randolph and Peterson make the right choices in October. Cross your fingers.
